Up & Up is a great song ruined by its production. What's troubling is that its one of the better songs on a very poor album. I'm very sad at this point listening to it. Amazing Day is so clichéd and sounds like a horrible Christmas song, I feel like I've heard Everglow 100 times before. Fun is underwhelming with terrible production,i could go on and on.

Such a disappointing album there's really nothing coherent or great about it. XMTS is really, really bad what was Chris thinking? Highlights are Up and Up and A Head Full of Dreams but there's nothing much else about the album. Very sad. 2out of 5.

Perhaps they weren't the most original band back when they first started but I remember listening to them and thinking "this sounds different and interesting". The songs were multi faceted and had interesting key changes and melodies. I listen now and it's so formulaic, every song is almost cut and paste modern Coldplay, poppy production, woahs and a MOR melody. It's just (for the most part) boring, lazy music. Chris has to strip back and find his great, great talent as a songwriter again as he's seems to be distracted by taking influences from modern day pop which are hitting his songwriting.

Not at all, more the fact that Chris' creativity seems to been really going. He's just doesn't seem to be writing very well at the moment.

Goldplayers are the ultimate Coldplay fan. They LOVE everything Coldplay does.

I don't think Coldplay are good at reinventing themselves. I think they've been successful in doing so once, X&Y then into VLV. That was a massive success. Since then they seem to have been lost and I think Chris is trying too hard to find a new direction and a new sound and ultimately losing his way creatively. If you want an artist who truely reinvents himself with ease then you have to look at Bowie and to some extent U2. At the moment it saddens me to see the seemingly downward creative spiral Coldplay are on that all the live gimmicks, fancy CGI videos, star guests on the album and multi coloured costumes can't hide.

No, really no. Warning Sign is 100x better. Everglow goes nowhere and is a "nothing" song.

The production is horrible and Gwenyths parts are cringe worthy. The song itself is very, very average.

Not afraid of any kind of pop. There have been really great pop songs. The problem with a lot of pop is you hear it on the radio or in a store and have no want or need to listen to it again,its throwaway music which has no depth. I listen to AOAL and I feel like that, it's ok to listen to on the radio a few times but I have no want or need to listen to it over and over again. From what I've heard so far, AD sounds pretty bland and AHFOD whilst being better again doesn't have much depth or true originality. Up & Up so far I've enjoyed the most but it's not by any means a classic. The album may be great in the long term but so far from what I've heard and unlike VLV I'll want to listen to it over and over again and find interest in different parts to the songs perhaps I've just grown out of Coldplay?

True but I feel they lack depth now and are much more "bubblegum".

I don't think they're bridging genres, I think they're heading head long into mainstream throwaway pop.

I've been to 8 U2 concerts since the 90s and they're by far the best band in the world live. Last night was good but it was definitely flatter compared to the others I've been at, they seemed tired in comparison last night. Brilliant still though. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Oasis "experimenting" with Britpop stuff?! When did that happen? Oasis lost their way artistically but they never experimented with silly Britpop stuff. Silly Britpop stuff would be rubbish like Shed 7 and the Bluetones. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Just because a song is "pop" doesn't mean to say it's not good. A pop song can be wonderfully catchy and we'll written. Sadly, AOAL is not well written or even very catchy, it's bland and totally forgettable. Ultimately it's just not very good. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Chris really needs to go solo now. It's horrible to see what is happening to the band. Amazing Day is just so average and now the new single is bland pop. Time to go solo and get back to what he does best, writing pure simple emotional melodies.
