  1. They're a bit like the people you described. It would probably be a good idea to leave early but everyone always stays out till at least 1 and I'd feel a bit rude to be the first to leave. It can be quite fun to go out with them once in a while but it kinda sucks if you're only going out like twice a month.
  2. Like once a month or every other month. We often end up going to places I don't like and many of them are the type of girls who dress to get attention from men. They will talk to pretty much any guy who approaches them and I sometimes feel a bit awkward. Don't get me wrong, some of them are lovely people, it's just how they behave as a group.
  3. Julia the shirt looks lovely, I'd say go for it. :nice: Edit I can't really see the boots but it looks like a nice outfit.
  4. Clearly! :P I've just realised that this sounds pretty bad, I don't mean it like that. It's just that I'm very busy with uni and work and I haven't got enough time for my boyfriend and my closest friends, yet I feel guilty for not going to work nights out etc. I haven't got much in common with the the people at one of my workplaces, we barely talk when I'm at work and they probably wouldn't even notice if I didn't go.
  5. I've made a new year's resolutions. -Be more thankful -Stop spending time with people I don't really get on with because I feel like I should - Cut down on stress and possibly work less hours
  6. Yeah looks like I'll be fine. It was a nightmare before Christmas, they cancelled my train to Manc Airport and I nearly missed my flight.
  7. Nope, we went to a smaller town. My mum couldn't be brothered to drive to St. Gallen because it was snowing.
  8. Congrats! I'll finish uni in May. :uhoh2:
  9. Some small town in Switzerland, didn't find anything. I'm planning to go to the Trafford Centre tomorrow though!
  10. I went shopping. I'm doing some research for my dissertation now and I need to pack later.
  11. I wouldn't mind having him back at Liverpool, he'd probably do a better job than Roy Hodgson.
  12. I know what you mean. it can be very difficult to make friends. I didn't make a lot of friends until I went to college in a different city. I thought I made some great friends there but we haven't really kept in touch.
  13. Yeah I quite liked going to work because I fancied one of my workmates. I started hating the job as soon as he left. It wasn't just about his looks though, the job got very boring when he was no longer there to entertain me. :embarrassed:
  14. I grew up in Switzerland but I didn't like it very much. :embarrassed: It's nice and quiet and all that but it is also very boring.
  15. You have to learn at least one language that is spoken in the country. If you do A Levels [which only about 5% of the Swiss population do] you will have to learn an additional language. Most schools give you the choice between Italian or French [depending on where you live], Spanish or Latin. Everyone has to learn German as far as I know. Road signs are usually in one language but pretty much everything else [labels, information signs etc] are in three languages. It can be quite strange when you go to a different part of the country. I usually speak English when I go to a different part of the country because my French isn't very good so they think I'm a tourist.
  16. I don't like snow. The only thing I like about it is that it sometimes stops you from getting to work.
  17. I grew up in Switzerland and English wasn't a compulsory subject for us. We didn't start learning English until we were 15. I went to Sixth Form College though, so I had been learning English for six years when I moved to the UK. I don't really understand what you're trying to say. Did you do an apprenticeship? It's only spoken in one county and most young people don't learn it anymore these days. I don't think a lot of people outside Switzerland know it. I'm pretty impressed that you knew the other three languages, no one ever does. People usually think that Swiss people speak Swedish. A lot of people also ask me whether English is spoken in Switzerland.
  18. I went to see Coldplay in Zurich a couple of years ago. I think it was in 2005 or 2006.
  19. Or Raeto-romanic. Swiss people didn't have to learn English at school until quite recently.
  20. Or to get worse. According to the weather forecast, they're supposed to get more snow in the North East tomorrow. :(
  21. that Liverpool City Council hasn't learned from last year's snow disaster
  22. Looks like this might be the first Christmas without my family. I'm supposed to fly on the 23 December and the weather conditions are very, very bad. I hope that I'll be able to spend it with my boyfriend if I'm going to stay in the UK but he lives in different city and I can't leave till the 22nd because I'm working and I'm worried that I'm gonna be stuck here. :embarrassed:
  23. I was thinking the same. Thankfully my shift got cancelled because the match was called off. Did it snow when you went out? Loads of people from my work went out last night because it was someone's birthday and some of them apparently ended up staying in a hotel in town. Anyway hope you'll feel better soon!
  24. I had to take a taxi to get home from work last night. I waited for ages and it cost me like £10. I really hope they'll cancel my shift today. I've got a cold and I don't fancy walking all the way home in the snow.
  25. I used to tell my maths teacher that I didn't understand my homework and I got away with it every time. :embarrassed:
