[Daily Mail] Are Coldplay the worst thing that's happened to rock?(ADD YOUR COMMENT!)
I saw this comment on the site as well, and completely agree with it! It's very well thought out! Also, it's funny that this 'journalist' is implying that all Coldplay fans are 'sheep when he is actually the only one demonstrating any of the traits of a sheep. He changes his opinion at the drop of a hat when his wife gives him a dirty look? He publishes a Coldplay-bashing article along the lines of pretty much all of his 'respected' peers (please note the quotes ;) )....this writer is demonstrating the characteristics of 'sheep' more than any Coldplay fan ever has or will. At least we can comfortably enjoy what we like without being pushed around by other people.

the guy is obviously jealous of the fact that everyone in the band is supremely better looking than him

Exclusive Chris Martin interview
great read!! Always nice to read something positive about Coldplay

coldplay live on radio 2 this afternoon, Front Row R4 this evening
the interviewer calling Chris a sexist was completely unnecessary. You'd think with Coldplay being in the spotlight all the time, he would have caught on to Chris' sense of humor. You could tell that he really shut down after being accused of making a sexist remark, and then the interviewer follows up with a blatant 'so, you guys are really morbid' COMPLETELY missing the point of the album. While I agree that I think Chris should have stuck around, I'm not surprised if he thought the guy was trying to attack him. There's definitely a tone of complete disinterest coming form the interviewer.

All the world music media is against Coldplay
maybe a better title for the topic would be "Most Critics are unfairly biased about Coldplay's music". Also, I know the negativity is getting to a lot of us, but, even the most biased critics are giving the album 3/5 stars. That's not bad at all. In fact, anything 3 stars or over could be considered to be a positive review. Even they can't deny the fact that the new album is something special.

VLV up to No. 2 in US! lil wayne 1...
You forgot to mention completely right!

Rolling Stone: 3.5/5 Stars
I can't believe that Lil Wayne got a higher rating than Viva La Vida. Rolling Stone has officially lost all my respect as a credible source for music reviews...Lil Wayne is garbage...I can freestyle better than he can (and I'm white!). My friends and I put on his album as a JOKE. It was honestly the worst 'music' I've heard in my life. Someone who raps at the beginning of his song in a robot voice "I am not like you/I am a martian" is considered a lyrical genius and Coldplay is bashed? WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO?? THE APOCALYPSE IS NIGH!!

Will Lil Wayne Steal Coldplay's Thunder? Yes, Say Experts
Lil Wayne is an insult to the music industry. 'Nuff said.

My argument for us, the fans
well said, clockpolitiks...one of the most encouraging things I've read. It's nice to see some well thought out arguments as opposed to the ridiculous Coldplay accusations we've been reading lately. Also...Coldplay has more in common with the Beatles than they do with Radiohead. And, when we look at it that way, hasn't every band ripped off the Beatles ever since they revolutionized the industry? Why is it that when Radiohead's influence from other bands is obvious, it's 'inspired', (or other critically 'acclaimed' bands for that matter) but Coldplay is a 'rip off' of everything? It's pure bullshit. All the music we hear today is influenced by something from the past now-a-days...even the brilliant Radiohead. EDIT: P.S. 100TH POST!!...oh...and that wasn't an attempt to bash Radiohead because I love them in ADDITION to Coldplay. *GASP* What's the deal with that??

I had never heard of George OR The Hour before watching this, but the guy is really great. This was a fantastic interview! Great fun to watch.

3/5 reviews for VLV from both The Independent & The Guardian
42 is horrible?? Who said that? BURN THEM AT THE STAKE!!! :P But personally, I think that's one of the best songs on the album. It's pretty epic.

I'm having difficulty listening to X & Y
haha...agreed! Ever since I heard Violet Hill and started revisiting Coldplay's music, I've been skipping over X&Y. With the exception of Fix You, Talk, and Twisted Logic, I haven't really been listening to it. Now that I've heard VLVODAAHF, I KNOW I won't be able to go back and revisit those songs for a while.

The Critics' Template.
The Mirror's review really showcases that critic's capability to decide what exactly constitutes a song to have 'empty lyrics'. He would obviously know best. After all, he wrote the emptiest review I have yet to read on the album, so by now he should be an expert on the subject.

3/5 reviews for VLV from both The Independent & The Guardian
Exactly!! Even the Beatles had a sound...despite their constantly changing musical experiments. (Hell, I have a friend who can't tell the difference between Sgt. Pepper's Beatles and A Hard Day's Night Beatles...it's all the same to him...in his ignorance, of course ;) ) I listen to Coldplay because I want to listen to them...they're the only band who can give me their unique spin on music.

3/5 reviews for VLV from both The Independent & The Guardian
what is with all the hate??? Seriously! The only reasons critics have turned their backs on Coldplay is because they think it'll give them more credibility. Ever since X&Y, it's become a common trade to unfairly bash them without ANY substance. For instance...this Mirror review?? Utter garbage. Absolutely nothing is said. They didn't even do their research..."I've become so tired of this loneliness" is a line from Violet Hill? Come on! This album shows a real determination to grow, but, unlike some bands, it DOESN'T alienate its fan base by completely abandoning its old sound. If one of my best friends, an avid Coldplay hater, has decided to give the band a chance after hearing their newest songs and enjoying them, then they must be doing SOMETHING right. (actually, a couple of my friends who have not been Coldplay fans have expressed a strong interest in the album as a result of 'Violet Hill' and 'Viva La Vida') The album is fantastic. 'Nuff said.

any magazine that gives X&Y a greater rating than this...clearly has issues...

~It's Such A Perfect Day~ - Leak Day Experiences 4/6/08
My experience of listening to the album all the way through for the first time may be the greatest ever!! I logged on here to discover that the album had leaked. I spent the next few hours attempting to gather all the songs in an mp3 format, so I could finally listen in all its glory. Meanwhile, there's a terrible thunderstorm outside, and apparently a tornado warning that I was not aware of until later in the day. None of that mattered! I FINALLY had the album to listen to!!! I listened to practically the whole thing and was completely blown away. I went over to my friend's house and told him he had to hear it. So we got in his car and drove off. As soon as we began driving, we noticed that the clouds were incredibly dark. Another storm was coming. Cemeteries of London had begun to play...it fit perfectly. The rain started and it was awful. We drove all the way to a parking garage at our destination, getting through 'Lost!' and '42' in the process. We stopped in the parking garage and watched the rain as 'Lovers in Japan/Reign of Love' echoed through the structure. One of our friends called us and asked us to meet her back in our hometown. The rain had died down just a bit, so we decided to do so. We got through 'Yes!/Chinese Sleep Chant', and I skipped Viva La Vida and Violet Hill as we were almost home and he had heard both those songs before. Then we got to Strawberry Swing...and that's where the magic began. About 1/3 of the way through the song, when they started singing "it's such a perfect day", we looked to our left, and in the midst of all this darkness and rain, the sun had come out. It was beautiful...I couldn't believe how perfectly it fit the song. Then 'Death and All His Friends' came on...we were nearly home and the sun had come out on the left side of the world, but we were still in the storm. In the midst of the song we turned to our right and the most amazing rainbow I have ever seen appeared. It was a FULL rainbow...I'd never seen anything like that for the longest time. The sun was over our area and the rain had let up a bit. We got back to his house...and the album was over. It was amazing. I couldn't believe how incredible that experience was.
