  1. I noticed something like this today on MTV when they premiered the Violet Hill video. The album title was simply 'Viva La Vida'. Maybe they decided the 'DAAHF' part was too much for simple marketing purposes...OR...all these rumors about the B-Sides are true! Oh well, eFlat is right....we'll have to wait until Wednesday to find out!!
  2. ahhh just had a dream that the VLVODAAHF was released early and I got a copy! But! I didn't want to listen to it for some reason, because...uh..it hadn't been OFFICIALLY released yet? ....pretty straightforward...
  3. ahhh! This is great!! Thank you!!! I may have to watch the interview again, because I found myself spending more energy trying to hear the song than listening to what they were saying at times!!
  4. haha, that was FANTASTIC!! Definitely one of their best videos. Loved the headbanging.
  5. Coldplay is exploring new musical territory as all good artists do, and it's really refreshing. I'm a big fan of the direction they're taking.
  6. I know I haven't posted on these boards a lot, but ever since a Rush of Blood to the Head changed my life in 2003, I have been in love with Coldplay. I think your description is perfect...whenever a new album is released, it's like running into an old friend. I feel like no matter what happens or what new bands I discover and fall in love with, Coldplay will always return every few years to bring me joy and comfort in a way that no other band can. ...was that corny?? Absolutely! But I meant every word of it!!
  7. haha amen to that.....it's very difficult with such easy access to the video! I almost gave in, but ended up hitting play, clicking in the middle....seeing them play...and then I clicked out!! I want to hear it all for the first time when the album comes out!!
  8. I hope he does!! So far, he's one of the best things that has happened to the band (along with Markus!) !! I hope he at least continues to collaborate with them as well as inspire them!
  9. Hey Ricardo! The Coldplay site seems to be running a bit slow for me too due to heavy traffic. But, basically, the more people that enter the contest, the more content we will unlock on the site! Right now, the UK is winning the battle as we Americans are...well...pretty lazy, haha. But, did that answer your question?
  10. I'm not looking either...I'm waiting for the content to be OFFICIALLY unlocked. It's more fun that way and gives me something to look forward to while I wait for May 21!!
  11. I knooow...what's even worse is that it's so tempting to look at it all!!!!
  12. this is why they're the best band EVER!!! I honestly can't think of another band in this day and age that has been so popular and yet STILL has such respect and generosity towards their fans. They just keep dishing out the free stuff for us to enjoy!! There has NEVER been a better time to be a Coldplay fan!!
  13. why does mine say there's only 2% complete?? WHY IS THIS HAPPENING??? p.s. thanks for the daily updates on the extras!
  14. Absolutely...that would be EPIC! I hope this happens.
  15. submitted mine today....accidentally got TWO e-mails but I only submitted once, so hopefully I'll be okay!!
  16. Can't agree with you more. That statement is perfect. Radiohead is an AMAZING band, and Kid A was a huge departure from their other stuff. However, in retrospect, I think it was a change for the best, as I find it to be their best album (OK Computer, The Bends, and Kid A are all pretty much tied for first, but I think Kid A takes the cake for me). Coldplay have taken a courageous step that they could have easily avoided and still maintained their popularity. However, they knew that they needed to change, because they are fantastic ARTISTS. Changing and experimenting comes with the territory. Personally, I think the change has paid off so far. The new songs are denser, darker, and more complex, and I can't wait to hear the whole album!!! Also, this is only the 4th album in a long career for Coldplay. Haters of the new stuff will have plenty of time to let the album grow on them. There has never been a more exciting time to be a fan of Coldplay, and yet there are STILL so called 'fans' complaining about EVERYTHING!!
  17. It's not about getting fans on our side...it's just saying that the songs are good enough that people who haven't liked Coldplay in the past are enjoying them now. Coldplay are changing to not only find new fans, but because they want to. They were tired of being labeled as a certain type of band and they wanted to break free of past restraints to show that they too could do new things and grow musically. Come on, yo, I'm just trying to be optimistic and keep everyone's hopes up! If someone who hated Coldplay in the past is becoming a fan as a result of their music and it allows them to go back and see their older stuff in a new light, then I consider that a VERY good thing! EDIT: As a side note, if Bob Dylan hadn't changed it up, then we would have never received Highway 61 Revisited or Blonde on Blonde, which are widely considered to be his best albums. The Beatles could have kept doing the same 'lovey-dovey' stuff their whole careers, but they wanted to get BETTER. This resulted in Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt. Pepper's, etc. Growing and changing your sound is part of being a musical artist, and it shows the signs of a GOOD band.
  18. Well said!! I think one of my good friends put it best when he said 'each new Coldplay album is a celebration in my life'. I would go so far as to say each Coldplay album is a celebration of life in general! This is why they will always be one of my top favorites of all time!!
  19. One of my best friends, let's call him Johnny-boy, is an avid hater of anything Coldplay. I don't know what it is that he hates about them, but he claims that Yellow annoyed him to death. His hatred for Coldplay only grew over the years. He didn't like Clocks or the Scientist, or any of their other hits. I tried to open him up to their music a couple of times, trying to get him to listen to the other lesser-known songs, but he would just refuse, proclaiming that Coldplay was the worst band EVER!!! It's kind of odd...his extreme dislike for them. After all, he's a musician and he should be more open minded towards music! PLUS!! While he has overall good taste in music, he really loves some awful stuff (of the emo variety...yuck!) What's even stranger is that he LOVES all these Coldplay-inspired/rip-off bands out there: The Fray, Aqualung, Keane, etc....anyway, on to the point. So, finally, we come to the year 2008. Violet Hill has just been released. It's not ENTIRELY different from their other stuff, but it's definitely signaling a new direction for Coldplay...one that includes new experimentation not present in their previous work. So, I decided to test out a theory. Would this new song be able to convert one of the greatest Coldplay haters in the whole world? I got in contact with Johnny-boy via instant messaging, and asked him to give it a try. He did. He liked it! I couldn't believe it!! His actual response was, "If the rest of their new album is along these lines, I may become a fan." I was ecstatic! This was a great sign! Coldplay's new song won over one of the strongest haters of their music!! Little did I know Round Two was soon to come... Viva La Vida came out of nowhere, but I found it to be even BETTER than Violet Hill (in my opinion)! I sent it to Johnny-boy to see what he thought. I was afraid he might not like it, as it really was a completely different song from VH. Once again, I was pleasantly surprised!! His response was as follows: "Dammit!!! I like this!! I guess this means I like Coldplay now..." So, ladies and gentlemen, VLVODAAHF has the power to convert even the most avid haters of Coldplay! You may be thinking, 'wow, this post was very long and completely unecessary...what's your problem?' Well...the truth is...it might be unecessary, but I figured after all the negative posts about how Coldplay is 'coming to an end' and how their new songs are awful or 'not different enough' it was about damn time we got some more positive feedback!! Also...I figured any other stories of this variety would be fun to read!! So, if you have any stories about recently converted Coldplay haters...post 'em here!! .....and I'm sorry this post is so long.....OH, and also, just in case anyone took me mentioning Aqualung, Keane, and the Fray as insulting them, I would like to state that I am a fan of all three. But, let's face it, it's obvious where they got their 'inspiration' ;)
  20. no problem!! I agree! Coldplay have said that the album is something you have to listen to all the way through...it's designed that way, like a film. I can't wait to hear the 'story'!
  21. Hey! This has been discussed already, but I will bring you up to date!! Essentially, what I think...and what I'm sure a few others think as well, is that, because Viva La Vida is the track before Violet Hill, the end is supposed to go on for longer and will run into Violet Hill making it a natural transition from one track to the other. The single edit is probably just for our listening pleasure while we wait for the complete album!
  22. haha, yes!!! Congratulations to you my friend!! The prize is...uh....our unwavering respect?
  23. None whatsoever...I guees...?
  24. Shawndorman replied to Jpw48's topic in Coldplay
I know!! Some people can be really ignorant!! After all, I'm completely in agreement with Chris! The first time I heard OK Computer, I didn't like it that much at all. That was about three years ago. Now, I think it's one of the most amazing albums I've ever heard and Radiohead are one of my top favorites!!
  25. It says the download link is undefined??? Nooo!! EDIT: Oooh...it's working now!! There we go!! Chris on his piano...just what I've always wanted!!!!
