  1. Heh... yet another cover story for Macleans to crow that it beat Time to by several months... You can read their version of the same thing here if you're interested
  2. 3000 posts. Just over 4 months. Well how do you like that. I stand corrected.   YAAAA! :D
  3. Had a huge Parachutes moment in the car yesterday, listening to it for the first time in a long time. When I got to the bridge in Shiver that always kills me "and it's you that I see, but you don't see me..." I was literally shivering all up and down my spine. It was so great. :nice: Also realizing that Parachutes and AROBTTH sound better in the car than most albums I listen to. Something about the way they were mixed keeps the engine from muddying up the sound. It's cool. Write it! Write it! Most stories start out like that... it will change as you get it down on paper and go through other drafts. The worst thing is to abandon a good idea before you even start.

Goodness, you just celebrated 3000 yesterday and you're almost at 3100 already. :stunned: No wonder you got there so fast. 2 to go for me to 3000... :nice:
  5. Because you know, Chris and the guys never change their minds about anything... And even if the site got the list from the distributor, the distributor may have just taken it from Rolling Stone...
  6. Yep, know exactly what you mean. I think it's universal. Unless you never listen to music at all... but even then it can be something someone says or a poem or something.
  7. ALL OF THEM! :nice: Why not? Unless you're the sort of person who has to get heavy-duty into one band at a time, it works. When I finally started finding music I liked I was working through 3 or 4 a day sometimes. But then I also have a very short attention span... so I need to switch around between things constantly... Get Blur's 'best of' for sure. I got it last summer and listen to it all the time. Editors have the shortest discography, so you can figure them out and move on the fastest. Travis make a lot of funny videos- that's how I got into them-youtube. U2 and REM I'd say take it one album at a time- you'll appreciate them more that way than if you try to rush right through everything.

:shocked2: :laugh3::laugh3::laugh3: That made my day. Wow. Brilliant. Totally messed up, but brilliant. (and I thought waiting over two years for someone to ask me my name was waiting too long for a joke...)
  9. Well you have to admit, what with all the things going on in the world it would be an amusing year for it to finally come out... Not that I'd ever listen or anything...
  10. Milk makes good hot chocolate. :nice:
  11. :laugh3::laugh3::laugh3: I love you guys. This thread has gone nuts. I needed a good laugh. Though I don't know if I've ever actually had a crumpet before....

Vinyl, please! :D But I'll still want a cd- the most multi-useful thing. Good for the car, the stereo system (lossless, you know) and of course, ripping. ...Providing EMI have scrapped that horrid infuriating copy protection on their cds.
  13. Kept me sane. Sent words shimmering into the great dark abyss of silence. I'm greatful. It's all good. Can't help wonder if they're still fighting over the tracklisting, though.... :sneaky::laugh3:
  14. Well I missed you and I'm glad you're around again. :nice: Don't see how anyone could forget you. Those sound like good ideas...
  15. ^Yep, one full month so that they can catch up on the time they lost with the strike. Not bad considering some shows have been missing for months and months now. I have one. WHAT DO THEY FREAKING HAVE AGAINST US GEEKS, ANYWAY? :bigcry: First it was the hobbit, and now that Delenn is gone they've taken away the resident Minbari too.
  16. :laugh3: Anyone heard the new Moby song "Disco Lies"? (watch out though... the video is kind of disturbing in a funny sort of a way... :o) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwyPI-zKqRs
  17. Goodness, for a second I thought Nettie was back too... lots of random bumped threads around here tonight... And yeah, when something sounds too good to be true it usually is. Especially with a thousand dollar (pound?) membership fee.
  18. Albie! :stunned: Me, I'm all by my lonesome and liking it that way.
  19. Everything goes mental. Noobs show up, oldies complain that it wasn't like it was in the old days, whatever new group the new sound/marketing campaign attracted take up residence, while a few regulars who either don't like the new sound or don't like the crowding on the board disappear. The Coldplay section gets really noisy for a few months, and the regulars hunker down in the lounge where business continues as usual. Eventually everything slows down and then peters off into next to nothing when the tour ends. The girly girls fade away or grow up and some of the refugees slowly come back. Regulars who were whining about the crowding and noobs start once again whining that nothing ever happens and there's nothing to talk about just like they always used to. Eventually new album details start to leak out and the whole thing starts over again. :dozey: Wash, rinse, repeat. I'm sort of looking forward to the craziness... last summer was so slow I didn't even post for weeks at a time. I like fun summers.
  20. Finally saw it!!!! :D  :dead:  :nice: Twice in two days at that. Hopefully I can fit in at least one more time before it has to go back... I have so many things I want to say, and honestly no idea how to say them...
  21. "Doctor Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb" See, classic stuff have titles like that. Maybe it's an omen that it really will be their best album.
  22. Yes, exactly! :D (Why didn't I think of that one...?)
  23. Has no one around here EVER HEARD OF A SUBTITLE BEFORE!? :bomb: You know, those old (and new) books where you have one title, and then a second smaller title that enhances, expands, or changes the meaning of the first title? Sometimes adds a humorous contradiction or, like in this case, a counter theme that makes both titles far more rich and complicated than either could ever be on their own. Mary Shelly's book "Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus" is a good example. I bet you didn't even know that it had a second title, did you? Or in a musical example, Sufjan Steven's song "Decatur, or, Round of Applause for Your Step Mother!" Most people just call that "Decatur" because the "or" part is a subtitle. Sorry for yelling, but this whining is really getting on my nerves. It is a brilliant title dripping with meaning, and it gave me chills when I first saw it. Death in life and life in death. A theme that runs far back into mythology. It makes me think of that Mexican holiday- the day of the dead- where everything is so colourful and happy looking, but they're celebrating death- throwing a party for the dead, but it's all so alive. I wonder if they meant it to refer to that, since there's already a Mexican theme to the title...
  24. Wooo 42. Hope it's great. Big news 3 days in a row. I'm going crazy with teh happiness and excitement and everything. I messed up a bunch of stuff already today and I'm still having a good day- now that's excited.
