Good race. Yay Kimi! Glad to see that McLaren is back in top shape. And Hamilton has just earned himself a new fan here.

What Was Your Favorite TV Show When You Were A Kid?
She-ra princess of power and He-man when I was little (I still have the little wooden She-ra sword my mom made me  ), followed by an extreme obsession with Teenage Mutant Ninga Turtles. When I was older it was Freakazoid, Animaniacs, and Pinky and the Brain. I also watched enough of my Dad's favorite show "The Prisoner" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061287/plotsummary to warp me for life. Seriously, I've spent the rest of my life looking for something that well written, but the best I've found is some of Christopher Nolan's stuff and Lost in it's first season.

how did your taste in music change?
Well, I was raised on classical music. All modern music was bad and scary and evil (although my mom always had a thing for Nana Mouskouri) so I wasn't allowed to listen to it. When I was about 9 or 10, I saw these women singing on tv in a strange language, and it was by far the most beautiful thing I had ever heard. The women were part of The Rankin Family. They're from Cape Breton Nova Scotia, and they sing mostly traditional Scottish music, very often in Gaelic. That was the point my musical life changed for the first time. I really learned to love music because of them, and I started to listen to all sorts of Celtic music, from the Chieftans, to the Barra McNeils, to later on Loreena McKennit, to eventually many years later yes, even Riverdance. Many, many years later it was Great Big Sea with their mix of Traditional and Rock music that sort of helped me transition into poppier stuff. Some people wonder why I never went against my parents rules about music. The truth is, I never had to. Anything that I ever heard being played on the radio or at friends' houses was never as beautiful as the stuff I listened to. I had my Celtic music, and I listened to alot of soundtracks and that was enough for me. I have always had a thing for dance music type stuff, but I always felt guilty about it so I never listened. Not to mention that I was in high school just when grunge was winding down and the really cheesy pop stuff was getting popular. Most class of 2000-ish kids were in a really weird gap that way- too young to get Nirvana and too old to take the Backstreet Boys all that seriously. Well I was happy with the status quo, but my younger siblings weren't. My sister got into all the really nasty pop stuff, and my brother started listening to stuff like OLP, Moby, Linkin Park, Filter, Massive Attack, and especially The Chemical Brothers. My brother and my dad started fighting alot and well... let's just say he went through a weird phase until my parents eventually just gave up. I was sort of absorbing all this stuff but I didn't really know what to make of it and I couldn't find anything I really liked. When you've grown up listening to stuff based on pure melody, cheesy pop stuff sounds really fake, and my brother's stuff was all weird and scary and no one else had heard of most of it. It took me years before I realised just how cool alot of it was. My second big change came the day I heard Clocks in a store. It was beautiful. And it had melody and stuff. I had to find out what it was. Turned out it was by this band a friend of mine liked called Coldplay. I was instantly obsessed. When I came here, I found out about all sorts of great bands from the music section. When I heard some of Coldplay’s really early stuff (eg. Bigger Stronger), I blindly stumbled into the indie world to try to find something else that sounded like that. Working backwards got me into Britpop, which then got me into stuff like (surprise surprise) the Chemical Brothers. (Yay for full circles.) When new wave made a comeback, I found another genre I really liked. Eventually I found my footing and started to figure out what was what, and the rest is history. And wow… that’s was really long.

the craziest thing you've ever done
Ah, it's not so bad... except on the days the scar itches...

the craziest thing you've ever done
I did that once... it was air powered, but I pumped it up too hard and it jammed, then went off right into my finger. Don't ask- I still don't know how that worked. I still don't have any feeling around the spot where they cut it out. Never touched a bb gun since.

Religious Beliefs
Apparently, there are plenty of people who call themselves jedi on national censuses. The problem is that being a jedi involves the ability to use the force. The force doesn't actually exist. But then, there are people who could and would use that argument against almost any religion.

Arcade Fire
Nice reviews guys. But a 3? yeowch. Guess they really are a love them or hate them band. Those and the No Cars Go criticisms that have been coming from several reviews I've read I disagree with completly. Not only is the depth still there (although much harder to find this time- it took me a long time) but No Cars Go is the lynchpin of it all that holds the whole concept together, much like Wake Up and Rebellion did on Funeral, and it works specifically because it's a reprise. (And yes, it is my favorite track on the album) I'll explain it better in a bit, but I just bought the ep today (yeah I was putting it off) and it sort of figures in my idea, so I want to listen to it first. Simply put, musically, Neon Bible is at it's best (and a fantastic best it is) when analised in isolation. Lyrically however, I think it's Funeral's equal, and I'm saying this as a person who has been paying thousands of dollars basically to study poetry.

Religious Beliefs
Oh, and can we all stay open minded in here? Everyone has the right to their own beliefs. Oh, and no, Jedi isn't a religious belief. Sorry, but those two statements together really made me laugh.

SINGLES BOXSET: PRESALES NOW ON
I thought about getting the messanger bag... it looks nice. But then it occured to me: it's made out of white cotton. I am a klutz. There would be grape juice stains or grass stains or something horrible all over it within about 5 minutes of it coming out of the box. :laugh3:

Male/Female Friends: Which Do You Prefer
Guys. They aren't clingy, they don't get in cat fights or stab you in the back over silly gossip, they aren't interested in the latest shoes, and they don't look at you like you have three heads when they find out you're a fantasy geek. In fact, most of my guy friends are bigger geeks than I am.

Iran condemns Hollywood war epic
Well, in alot of ways, it is. It lived, it died, and in the centuries between then and now, empires have risen and fallen, cultures have changed radically, and people groups have moved around. Yes, they left behind a massive footprint, but that's what it is- a footprint not a foot. Claiming it as your heritage is one thing- there's nothing wrong with that. Taking offence on it's behalf? It's kind of silly, if you ask me. From what I understand, not even modern day Greeks are actually quite as related to the ancient ones as they would like to believe. Not to mention that much of what even scholars know about the Persians comes to us from the POV of the ancient Greeks because so much of our society is based on things the ancient greeks left behind. Seeing how much time Greece spent at war with Persia, it's inevitable that most of the good Greek war stories would involve the persians, and that there might be an ingrained bias there.

Ode to mooseheadsfan and Briggins
Heh... I've been trying to think of something to change my name to for ages. It isn't Erin, and I picked Erin as a private joke back when I didn't intend to post here ever. I'm still coming up blank, though.

Iran condemns Hollywood war epic
Considering most people's general knowlege of history and geography, I wonder how many people who went to see it actually had a clue that Ancient Persia has beans to do with modern-day Iran. Probably not many.
