what's in your fridge?
Fruits and veggies mostly. Eggs, cheese, jam, Brita pitcher.... no one here drinks, so no booze. Lots of leftovers- some good, many scary. It doesn't get cleaned out all that often.

can you make a GIF / animation in photoshop 7?
I have photoshop elements which is almost identical to the proffessional photoshops but with a couple of tools missing, and I can make basic animations with it... just nothing complicated. What you have to do is use the layer function. When you go to save, each layer is one frame. Save as a gif, and there should be a little box you can check that says save layers as frames. Click save, and it should bring up a toolbox for setting up the gif options. I have yet to figure out if it can be used for capturing video in any way, but it can make things like rotating banners.

i'm a newbie guitar player and...
Um... there are two big things my guitar teacher mentioned that begginers have trouble with. The big mistake I was making had to do with how hard you press down on the strings. Be gentle. Acoustic guitars you do have to press slightly harder than electric ones, but in general, you should only press down on the strings just barely hard enough to get the proper note. Try it- just barely touch one of the strings on the fret you want, and start plucking the string, pressing slightly harder each time until the note changes. That's how hard you should need to press and no harder. It takes a bit of getting used to, but it should increase your speed and will help prevent nasty stuff like tendonitis (which I almost got ). Also, the closer to the bottom of the fret that you put your finger, the easier it will be to get a good sounding note, and the lighter you will have to press down. The second big thing is that it is better to play correctly than fast. In fact, play slower than you feel like you can play well. It doesn't matter if it doesn't even sound like the song it's so slow, as long as you are playing it right. What will happen is like everyone said, you'll build up the speed as you practice without even realising it, so that playing faster will feel very natural. Oh, one last thing, keep even the fingers you aren't using close to the fretboard. That way they'll be there faster for your next chord. Some people like to stick the fingers that they aren't using way up in the air, which does work, but it will slow them down in the long run.

New Coldplay Album Almost Complete??!
Even if it is true, it probably still has to go through final mixing, and manufacturing, and the whole marketing campaign, and all that other stuff that can take months and months. Debs just said in the q&a that it wouldn't be out till 2008. *shrug* I'm still hoping that the South American tour is where they're planning to fine tune the songs before they do the final recording. I think it might add something interesting to the songs to have them played live like that first. But who knows...

Radiohead
That's great! Does anyone have a copy of that remix? I could never figure out how to save any of them when they were up on the website. :(

Radiohead
One thing I've noticed about Thom in interviews and such, is that he has this amazing ability to project whatever he's feeling onto everyone around him. When he's doing an interview with someone he likes; when he's at a good point mentally, I actually go away feeling really... I dunno... uplifted. The interviews he was doing for the Eraser were fantastic for that- he was so excited in so many of them, and he seemed really proud of what he had done, and happy about people's response to it. When he's in not such a great mood, and he's worried about everything that's wrong with the world, and this and that and the other thing... yeah, those can be downers. Worse because alot of the time it's stuff I worry about anyway, even if I have some very different views sometimes. I guess the way I look at those moments, is that yes, the world is messed up, and there are things happening to make it worse, but there is also beauty and mystery and wonder, even in the brokenness, just waiting to be noticed. Which is sort of a quality I've always gotten out of the music too... some of it was written from the pov of some real, deep depression, and can remind me of when I went through some real depression of my own, but with the way that they work even someting that ugly becomes something so beautiful. I think I started rambling in there a bit... but I hope it makes sense.

Why, if I like being asleep so much, do I have so much trouble just stopping everything and going to bed? It just doesn't make sense to me.

Howling Bells
^Yeah, I hate country so I was kinda weirded out at first... but if country sounded like what they seem to think it does, I would loooove country music. Can understand if other people wouldn't , though. I wish I could see them live... I wish I could see almost anyone like that live. Alas, they never make it past Montreal.

 Loreena McKennit works best for me, but hey, whatever works, go for it.

What are you thinking right now?
Anything that will get me out of my mental headspace. They don't have to be big, although sometimes the big ones can help. If it's warm and sunny I might take a walk and go in a direction I haven't in awhile, or at least somewhere with trees, or I suppose if I was really desperate I would catch a bus to the park I can see the ocean from. I might head downtown and poke around in the little boutiques looking at keepsakes. If it's raining, I might sort through my books for an old favorite I haven't read in a long time that got me into an interesting headspace, or I might bake cookies, or dig out some old photo albums, listen to an old cd that I haven't in a long time... I still play with playdough (yes even at my age) making neat little sculpures. Anything that will change what I'm thinking about, or the mood that I'm in.

Why is Thom Yorke so popular?
Not sure I know what you meant there... But Coldplay is my sentimental favorite. I love them because they always sound beautiful and make me happy, no matter how bad a mood I'm in. Radiohead is my mental favorite- there's always something new and interesting and different, something that makes me go "wow I wish I had thought of that". It reminds me of when I was in art school. It's possible to love both equally.

What are you thinking right now?
When I'm in desperate need of creativity, I like to go on adventures... but I don't know if that would work for everyone.

Why is Thom Yorke so popular?
Meh. Pretty common viewpoint. Don't agree with it myself, though I agree that some fans think they like it because they're afraid to admit that they don't get it. I don't get pulk/pull off of Amnesiac, but it still makes my ears tickle like nothing else i've ever heard. :nice:

Why is Thom Yorke so popular?
I like him because I have a thing for redheads, and mainly just because I like him. Doesn't mean it's a valid argument. Doesn't mean anyone has a valid argument. Also doesn't mean you win.
