  1. I have a water pillow. Love it. :nice:
  2. ^Haha that helps. :laugh3: Many would have been tempted to whip out their player too just to mix a few extras in once everything was in full gear... :sneaky: I have to admit a wedding was the only place I've ever really appreciated the Black Eyed Peas- they got almost everyone dancing... :uhoh2:
  3. So, who's been an ipod elitist before? What drives you? *raises hand* I think I've been guilty a couple of times. :embarassed: You know the sort- you're at a party and the host doesn't have anything good on. So someone says you have to all hear this song- and puts on something obscure and fussy that no one else 'gets'. Bang. Dead party. And worst of all the person doesn't even realize it, they're so self-satisfied with their own superior choice. Or even worse, two people with opposite taste get in a war over the sound system and ignore everyone else. There was a really interesting article in Maclean's Magazine about how portable digital media lets anyone hijack the playlist at a party thinking they're the ultimate amateur dj, and how it isn't always a good thing. Click here for the article. A slightly embarrassing read, I have to say. I really try not to be snobby about what I like. I'm not sure anyone who cares about what they're listening to can totally avoid becoming *that person*. (And sometimes it's called for.) My biggest weakness is when everyone starts picking out songs and they're all totally different from what I like to listen to. So I throw mine into the pile and everyone is just like :blank: and then I get paranoid. p.s. My very first poll! :uhoh: Anywhere ever. Am I going to turn into one of those crazy poll spamming types now? :worried:
  4. How does one hold a grudge for more than 10 seconds? I don't think they're fun. Grudges take so much energy, and unless you're really mean and obvious about it (in which case you look like a jerk not them) they don't even know you're stewing at them. Sound like them winning to me... :snobby:
  5. ^Yeah, I was thinking it should take about an hour (if live) preferably at a time when the most people would be on. I could get all the results posts typed up ahead of time so we can post them as they're announced, then play clips live and have most of the time taken up between announcements with questions and discussion and things from the board. Would be worlds better than the 12 hours or so it all took me last year, but it would need a lot of prep work to work. Heh... hooray for looking awkward on camera. :uhoh:

I have never heard that before... I like. How about some Royksopp next? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmcPeuf5aXo]YouTube- Röyksopp 'Happy Up Here'[/ame] This is such an odd thread... random dance party in the Coldplay section?...
  7. ^Ok, guess I'm a little ahead of you there, then. The big thing presentation wise I'm worried about would be to able to keep live conversation going so there wouldn't be too much dead air while we worked on tactical stuff. If we were going to do it, it would probably have to be on Saturday the 13th or Sunday the 14th, so would you be free then? And I don't have a webcam, so it would have to be at your place if that was ok...
  8. OI! Briggins! Webcast- thoughts?
  9. Thanks- that was the one thing I wanted to know. Where does the Death Cab song show up? Credits? And good grief you lot! :P You've gone and given it the third biggest opening weekend ever! :stunned:
  10. Well the thing is that lots of newbs are going to come in all the time, and if there isn't a clear, established Apparatjik thread there's going to be dozens of new ones. Plus there's lots of people here who might not be willing to wander off to a new site for news but might still drop into a thread. Which isn't to say that any of you have to do anything (hey, I'll post stuff when I think of it), just that I'm confused why this is even a debate because this thread is here already... And thanks, yay!
  11. Wow I've been out of the loop... :stunned: Excited now, though. Nice site you lot have set up.... but we really do still need this thread here at least for stuff.
  12. ^^Good luck with that, Chuck. Basically the way I see it, people suck. When money or power is involved, people suck a lot. Even nice, good, honest people will eventually begin to suck sooner or later once in a position where power and money is available. Systems are all about trying to make them suck less so that people can at least live on the same planet. The trick is to do it while not totally screwing over everyone involved. Which is impossible. True communism is actually a wonderful idea. The problem is the moment people get involved they screw it up. Monarchies have proved over the centuries to be one of the simplest and most effective means of rule. The problem is you then have a human king or queen. More often than not, they suck. In the name of giving power to the people, we have democracy. It's an imperfect system to start with. Everyone gets their second choice between bad and worse, but at least they have a choice. The problem is that the people then get to show just how much they suck en masse. AND you then have all sorts of elected officials. Most of whom seriously suck. And then there's the beloved anarchy...where all the aggressive jerks who suck get their way all the time. And don't think religion escapes this. I know it's been a trend lately to talk about how religion screws everything up and is responcible for all the world's woes, but in my experience it's the only surefire way to overcome some small modicum of personal suckage. Unfortunately it's still looked after by humans who would use it as a shield for their own selfish agendas, or who just plain find a way to suck. So really, it doesn't matter what it is, people will still screw it up. Hooray for us. :(

^I have an old spare virtual couch you can have. It doesn't have legs for some reason, but it's very comfortable.
  14. So where do you sign up for surrealism? I want a giraffe! :cheesy: ...And a harmonica! :nice: Water Buffalo in every garage!
  15. No, space invader for starting this whole mess. And I couldn't actually hate anyone if I wanted to. I was kidding. :P
  16. Bwahahaha! :laugh3: I love Edward Norton. He's awesome. You know in Kingdom of Heaven where he plays the leper king, he never shows his face or any skin at all and yet as I remember he wouldn't let them use a stand in- he still wanted to be there playing the part at all times. Now that's an actor. :nice:
  17. Wow. There would be times while I was living in the states or was visiting where everyone would say the pledge of allegiance and I would be all :uhoh: because I didn't know it (and had issues with the brainlessness of it) and some of them would get upset at me. That's usually where I'd just be like "hi. I'm from Canada." Countries need people who can think and care. I don't think the mindless obedient sheep thing does anyone much good. (Neither does apathy, but that's another story...)
  18. I have a sliding tile game I used to like to play a lot. But I started having lots of dreams where I slid things around all night like in the game. So I avoid it now. I can see how this would have a similar effect. :dizzy:
  19. ^ I consciously left by level 5 or 6... that thing is freaking hard!
  20. Gah! I hate you. :inquisitive:
  21. Hardly unmasked. :dozey: She still has enormous fake blond hair and fake eyelashes on. She was actually really beautiful once... :shocked2: Back when she sounded more like Norah Jones... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NM51qOpwcIM]YouTube- Vintage Lady Gaga Live at NYU - Captivated & Electric Kiss[/ame]
  22. 2 Weeks left! We has Banners! :D
  23. ^Now I remember why I didn't put this in the other section... :p ;)
  24. Imogen Heap - Ellipse! (Sorry, I'm awful. :laugh3: But it is in my top 3 for sure and I can't believe she isn't getting more love.) Honestly, I always find with this poll that the most useful technique when I can't make up my mind is to make 3 big categories- top, middle, bottom- and then ask myself which albums in each category need the points most, because it may make the difference between an unloved favorite making the top 50 or not.
