Clerks 2
I couldn't stand Clerks 2... but then again, not much Kevin Smith stuff is enjoyed by me. I didn't like Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Jersey Girl, Chasing Amy, or Mallrats. The original Clerks was okay, but is over-rated by many people. Clerks 2 was horrific. Dogma, however, is a diamond in the rough I tell you.

Miami Vice
I didn't like this movie in the slightest. I thought Collateral was bad... and then I saw Miami Vice. Michael Mann just doesn't do it for me. The acting was horrible with the exception of that guy who was in Take the Lead. Actually, there was no acting. A bunch of blank facial expressions from Colin and Jamie the whole movie is considered acting nowadays. The plot was cliche and overdone. Two renegade cops that give no sh*t what authority has to say get involved with some drug dealers and things go bad. The end. I absolutely couldn't stand it. And as if the plot and acting weren't bad enough, you throw in Mann's ridiculous camera work. I guess he was trying for original or something with the documentary-style camera work with a grainy filter shtick... but I couldn't stand it.

So I made a short film...
You can watch it and leave me some critiques on it. It's very dry humor... we were inspired by the Office. Honestly, I don't know what to make of it. It only took us like 6 hours to make or something like that. Sometimes it makes me laugh, sometimes it only gets a chuckle or two. IT HAS NO PLOT. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

End of another tour.... now we wait
Saw them three times on this tour, and I really really really hope I get to see them again with my friends before we all head off to college in a year and a half.

Bush vetos stem cell reasearch bill
Meh. I'm sort of split on stem-cell research. If they want to use stem cells from the umbilical (sp?) cord, then I'm 100% for it. But not from fetuses.

I just returned from Costa Rica...
I'm working on the link right now... I'm trying to get in touch with my missions trip leader to see if he has the link to a website or something. Costa Ricans live in conditions that just astounded me. Every house has a set of outer bars (like a fence), then bars covering all the windows and doors because crime is so bad. The streets are quite impressive to drive on... they are torn apart and have potholes and dips and sometimes the roads just switch from pavement to broken up gravel to pavement again. The houses were all very dirty. It was so sad to walk inside one house and see a baby crawling around on the floor playing with her dirty toys. Then we went to one particular village in Costa Rica... and it was unbelievable. It was the kind of third-world villages you see where all the "huts" are built out of nothing but tin sheets, nails, and trash. We passed out food there, and people just flocked out. They were so greatful for three sandwiches and a juice pack... something that I'm sure all of us take for granted. And the sad part about it is that Costa Rica is such a beautiful country. You will never see another sunset like you do in Costa Rica, I can guarantee you that much. The one beach we went to had white sand and the ocean looked amazing. I just wish it wasn't such a poor country.

I just returned from Costa Rica...
I just returned from a missions trip with my school to Costa Rica, and it was shocking to say the least. I'm not one who cries a lot, but sitting here and looking at all the pictures we took at the orphanage is causing me to just weep. I feel for these kids, and just thought I'd share my trip story with everyone here. These charities aren't for show - the situations these people live in are real and they need our help now more than ever. My friend Charlie and I with the kids. My friend Heather saying goodbye. My friend Josh playing with one of the younger boys, Josel. My friend Jonathan (yes, he's older) swinging one of the kids around. That's me in the background with the Ronaldinho jersey. Walking the streets of San Jose. I don't know - maybe those pictures didn't do a lot for you. But these kids are so full of joy and life despite their situations. If anyone here wants information on how to get in contact with the orphanage I can help. I guess all I'm really asking for is an open ear. If Costa Rica, which is actually one of the least poor countries when compared to African countries, is faced with these conditions... imagine how much worse off they are in Africa. Whether you pray, spread the word, or donate - at least give your support. This is a plea coming straight from me.

The Next Live Tour
So my friends and I are wanting to do a bit of a Coldplay Live roadtrip before we all go off to college next year at this time. I know it's highly unlikely, but when is a good estimate for when to expect album number four from the fellas? I know there probably won't be a tour in Autumn 2007... but how long after that would we have to wait?

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (SPOILERS!!!!!)
20 second clip isn't really worth it. And did anyone else besides me think this movie is the best of 2006? Granted, I haven't seen A Scanner Darkly. And Lady in the Water isn't out yet. And X3 is a close second. But still... this movie was fucking brill. Jack's death wasn't very shocking to me for some reason, however. And I don't know what it is with all the hate for the ending. I thought the ending was brilliant. Very well written and very surprising. I just need two questions answered: How is Barbosa still alive, and what did Jack's compass point to?

The Snow Patrol Thread
What's the best Snow Patrol album everyone? I have Final Straw and Eyes Open, but they're both just above average... not spectacular.

The official **KEANE** thread
I wasn't a big fan of Hopes and Fears... I mean it was decent but not stand-out. Under the Iron Sea is fuckin' brilliant in my opinion. It doesn't touch anything Coldplay has put out... but it's still the best album I've heard in a very long time. 2006 is turning out to be a good year for music. Stadium Arcadium, Eyes Open, Under the Iron Sea, Black Holes and Revelations... and of course LIVE 2006!!!

How You See The World music video
Holy shit forgot about that topic. Well to make a long story short, my broadcast team decided to use "Float On" by Modest Mouse instead, they were all lazy, and the music video sucked. Now it's just my friend Joe and I, who are both serious about film, and we're wanting to make a video.

Bush condems newpapers on bank disclosures
Okay here's my compromise on the situation... The program might've been working, and it might not've actually been hurting anyone. I mean, in all honestly, woop dee doo the government could look at our bank transactions. If you're scared they're going to catch something bad, ease up: they're not looking for criminals, they're looking for terrorists. But on the other hand, the NYT exposed the plan, big effing deal. History has shown us a constant battle between government and media over privacy of information. The New York Times printed the story - cough up another win for media. The terrorists know about it now, yeah... but we hadn't really caught any 'terrorists' while using this program, now had we? If anything, the NYT printing the story will slow down the transfer of funds between terrorists, since now they have to look for an alternate method.

Israel / Lebanon / Iran / Syria - Middle East conflict!
He... has a point. *craps pants* Wow, never thought I'd say that. I mean this war is going to rage on for probably decades: there's no point in really trying to make peace. I'm all for seeking out the peaceful solution to things... but not in this situation. It's futile, and everyone knows it. The roots of the conflict run back to Biblical times... and people just want to stop the fighting with a pen and a piece of paper? It's futile.

'Al-Qaeda' plan to fly planes into London skyscrapers concocted by government lobbyis
Nick... I really really really want you to pull some concrete evidence out. No, don't just throw an entire book at me about what happened. I'm not going to sit down and read the whole thing, just like you're not going to either. I want you to pull facts out of the book and point me directly to this "100% concrete evidence" you keep referencing. And if you want to get technical: the 9/11 Commission Report is just another account of what happened. There is no "evidence" in the book. No pictures, no videos, nothing. It's just words written by some people accounting what happened. It's a story, Nick. Have you even read one page of the book? It's told in a narrative-style, almost. It's not a reference book, per ce. I want to be able to prove it was terrorists - I hate the fact of seeing the evidence and knowing that our own government did this to us. It sickens me. I honestly would be relieved if I saw undisputable evidence that proved it was just what the media/government says it was. But I have yet to see this evidence. Please, please, please show it to me. PLEASE. I really really want to see it.

Click
So seven of my friends and I went to go see 'Click' Sunday night (I did a triple feature that night: 'Tokyo Drift', 'Click', and 'The Break-Up'). The movie was funny at the start... but then it got really serious... and I can honestly say that all eight of us cried at one point during the movie. And I even cried the least. All the macho tough guys who would never let down their pride for anything were crying. Of course the girls were. It is such a sad movie, and the ending sort of drives it home. You can't help but feel for Adam Sandler's character. The movie is fantastic. Go see it - a definite must-see.

The Fast and the Furious 3: Tokyo Drift.
The Mustang was so sweet... though I thought it was stupid to build the whole movie up around drifting in street racing cars... then randomly bring in the Mustang at the very end. And Vin Diesel also seemed incredibly random. I don't know... I mean the movie was decent. Decent enough to surprise me and make me not feel bad for paying money to see it... but not decent enough to make me watch it again. Ever.

Yeah, I live in NC, I'm not a redneck in the slightest. I hate country music, hunting, and fishing... so... three ingredients for a non-redneck.
