Indie Film Soundtrack
So - here's the deal. My friend and I are putting together a twenty minute film to put into a local festival. The film is going to be pretty deep as far as we're concerned. The main character's name is Jude, and the short film is going to be playing off of the redundancy of life, and how everything feels so boring and ordinary. Since it's only twenty minutes we cannot fit much into the movie, but here's the scene outline. Opening credits on a blank background with just Jude's voice as he writes in a journal. Jude reads the journal out loud and describes his bland day just like any other day, except for the fact that he got in a big argument with his best friend (and coincidentally, his only friend) and they are not speaking at the moment. Dream sequence. Jude sees himself in a massive sea of people who are all standing, staring blankly forward. Everyone in the crowd is wearing a green shirt, except for Jude. He is different because he is wearing a blue shirt (and a giant pair of headphones). Suddenly he pulls up his shirt to reveal the fact that he is, in fact, wearing a green shirt underneath. Cue "Don't Panic" by Coldplay intro. In the real world, Jude's eyes shoot open. "Don't Panic" is still playing. He sits up out of bed and sees that he still has on the pair of headphones, and that he is wearing a green shirt. The door to his room explodes open and his dad barges in. Jude removes the headphones (Don't Panic stops). The dad starts yelling at Jude for waking up late. Soon after the dad starts yelling though, Jude "zones out" and the father's voice is replaced with "Don't Panic" where the song left off. "Don't Panic" continues to play as Jude goes through his morning routine. Jude gets in his car and drives to go pick up his best friend Tyler for work. The two aren't speaking, and Jude commentates on this in his head as he drives over. After Jude picks up Tyler, he turns on "Karma Police" by Radiohead to avoid any awkward confrontation in the car. The two ride in complete silence. Humorous stoplight scene. They go to work as door-to-door salesmen, selling plastic name-cards. "We've Got a File on You" by Blur plays through a series of failed attempts at getting anyone to buy something from him. MISSING SCENE. At the end of their long day, the two meet back at Jude's car, where he breaks the silence and announces that they need to go to the mall so Jude can pick something up for his brother's birthday. Tyler doesn't really reply. When they arrive at the mall parking deck, they get in the elevator with Lounge Music playing. A man gets on the elevator with the two of them, and somehow draws them both into a discussion about a random social topic. The rest of the scene plays out with the two of them "settling" their differences in the elevator while people pour on and off at each stop. Eventually, the two have a skirmish of sorts in the elevator. Next scene is at a Starbucks. Both men sit and are disheveled and look a mess from the tuffle in the elevator. They sip their fancy drinks and have a conversation about how they're both glad that they've got each other. Really build up the whole "best friends" idea. They slip into a discussion about what constitutes a friendship and what kind of desires they each want for the friendship. Final scene ends with Jude dropping Tyler off at his house. They have a final few words, but leave off on a very positive note. Jude returns to his house, brushes by his parents and goes straight to his room. "Same" by Snow Patrol starts as Jude thinks out loud while writing his journal for the day. It's very short, sweet, and to the point about his friendship with Tyler. He has another dream in the same setting as the first - except this time, everyone is dressed in green except for him AND Tyler, who both wear blue. Cut to shot of Jude's eyes springing open the next morning, wearing the BLUE shirt, the headphones, and this time wearing a smile on his face. Cut to credits along with song's timing. --- The basic idea here is to establish via the scenes (and I didn't give a lot of detail about ongoings within the scenes) that 1) life is repetitive only if you allow it to be... 2) friendship is selfish unless both people make it different... and 3) we just want a kick-ass song lineup. "Don't Panic" - Coldplay "We've Got A File on You" - Blur "Jesusland" - Ben Folds "Comfortably Numb" - Pink Floyd "Same" - Snow Patrol

Premier League Predix?
So who are your top five for premier league this year? Judging by what I've seen so far, and what I know... 1. Man Utd Another solid year for ManUre. They look like one of the teams to beat this year. Lots of fresh, young talent, esp Rooney, Ronaldo, and can't forget Carrick. Very underrated player in Fletcher, and Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes are playing better than they have in years. 2. Arsenal They're led by one of the greatest strikers to ever live and one of the most solid goalkeepers. Don't forget about Fabregas and all the other solid players they've got waiting to explode. Problem is they're a shallow team - and their top spot on my list is assuming they don't get many injuries. 3. West Ham Definitely another top 10 place, and one of a few teams who could realistically crack the top 5. Great young playmaker from Israel, Yossi Benayoun, and really strong young strikers in Harewood and Zamora (Zamora will vie for the Golden Boot, as he already has 4 goals in 3 games). 4. Chelsea They re-loaded like crazy this year, and signed 2 gods---Ballack and Sheva. They also bought a couple of other great young players, Kalou and Mikel, just so no one else could have them. But they may just have too many galacticos, especially in midfield (Cole, Wright-Phillips, Lampard, Ballack, Kalou, Mikel, Makelele, Geremi, Robben----I don't know of any teams that play a nine-man midfield, and ALL of these players, with perhaps the exception of Geremi, would dominate any other team). It'll be tough for this team to gel, even though their talent is light years ahead. Can anybody say, Real Madrid? 5. Newcastle Newcastle is the most improved out of the big clubs, and they'll fight hard, along with West Ham, to knock Spurs out of 5th place and could knock Arsenal or Chelsea out of the top four and out of the Champions League. They just signed one of my Inter Milan boys, Nigerian hitman Obafemi Martins. He will score bags of goals playing in front of Newcastle's great midfield. And your bottom five? 16. Charlton Definitely a down year since Curbishley resigned. The new manager is good, he just doesn't have the players. Mid-table obscurity awaits! They'll avoid relegation for two reasons: good management, and Bent's goals. 17. Wigan No good summer signings, so this team will go down from their shocking top-10 finish from last year. The manager, Jewell, is too good for relegation, but only just. 18. Man City This season is very ominous for City. No good transfer activity, which is weird for them, and they seem to be losing the plot. Their first team is old and weak, and they have no bench. 19. Sheff Utd Another relegation candidate. A few good players---goalkeeper Kenny and playmaker Tonge, but the rest are garbage. Not much to say here. Neil Warnock always blames the ref when they lose, so I'll be sure to watch the weekly highlights shows for his hilarious rants. 20. Watford They play their guts out, but they have approximately 0 world class players. They'll get the occasional upset against an underachieving millionaire team (like when Crystal Palace beat the crap out of United a couple of years ago and got relegated a few weeks later). Goodbye, Watford.

Radiohead
For everyone that's heard the acoustic version of "Creep" off of the My Iron Lung EP... my friend and I are making a music video for it for our broadcasting class at school. Get this: It starts out in a busy hallway with the camera zooming in on the face of one guy. Everyone else is wearing casual clothes. This guy is wearing a black suit, out of place with everyone else. The camera moves in front of this guy through the whole video as he mouths the words. The thing that will set this video apart is the fact that we will have a second camera going at the same time as the main camera filming negative, bad things going on around him. The other things going on around him will pop up in 24-esque windows, while we keep the main shot on the main character. Things like drug deals, sexual temptations, people passing him up for a friend bc he's a "creep". When the part of the song hits where Thom wails "Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunnnn...", the guy bolts down the hallway, pushes out of the second story door to the corridor, and dives over the railing as it hits the climax. It shows the guy broken up and laying on the hard concrete below as he sings the last verse of the song. As the song finishes, ambulance sirens can be seen and heard approaching in the distance. The end.

Wow - I need tickets to the DC show on the 10th! ARGH! Speaking of Snow Patrol, I want to do a music video for "Same" as a video project for my class at school. Any ideas? I literally am drawing a blank.

Bono's Hypocrisy Betrays Third World Aid Scam
Yeah, Nick. I know you're defending Bono... hell I didn't even attack him because I don't want to believe it... but the reason most people here don't do more for the poverished nations is the fact that we just don't have the money or the resources. Bono's done a lot of good - nobody's belittling that. Just because someone's claiming he's corrupted now doesn't mean that he is corrupted, or that anything he did in the past is of no significance.

Social network sites face US ban
I think it's ridiculous that some parents don't know what's going on in their child's life. I mean I have my privacy, sure. I don't tell my parents every single little thing I do every waking moment of my day. But they have a general idea of where I am... and hell I even show them videos on my MySpace and whenever I get a new picture my mom always wants to see. Though, I don't think predators are as interested in 6' 3" seventeen year old males. My little sister, however, I am definitely watching out for.

Debunking 911 myths.
As alyssa said... there are "facts" on both sides of the argument. So then it comes down to choosing which set of facts you believe validates itself more. And in this case... I'm going to choose the conspiracy side of things. To whoever said it's "popular" to be a conspiracy theorist... I beg to differ. I'm constantly attacked by my friends because of my conspiristic beliefs about 9/11 and JFK (moreso about 9/11). I have maybe one or two friends who side with me.

World Trade Center Movie
I hope everyone on this thread realizes that Oliver Stone, director of World Trade Center, is the same man who directed JFK. JFK is the movie that pretty much sensationalized the JFK conspiracy theory and concreted it as a plausible, acceptable theory. So for you guys that are jumping all down Stone's back... he's a conspiracy theorist. I've seen him say that he thinks there's more to 9/11 than is being told. I believe, however, Paramount restricted Stone from doing another conspiracy movie because they didn't want "that reputation". Especially not only five years after the incident. World Trade Center just focuses on the story of two cops who were stuck under the rubble. It doesn't present either side of the "what really happened" argument. It's just a story about a tragedy. 9/11 was a tragedy, no matter how you roll the dice.

Bono's Hypocrisy Betrays Third World Aid Scam
That upsets me. Greatly. I really listened to Bono and Chris and the whole lot of 'em about the charities. I campaigned around my town and community and school and such for those charities and causes. And now BONO is a hypocrit?

I was pulling for Ex-CIA from the first episode... I'm really upset that Team Genius beat them out. I hate those guys. Oh well. Go Air Force. Hell, even Southie Boys. Just not the Geniuses.
