Some of the lyrics sites can be wrong though. This 'searching your mellow'/Sergio Mello thing is really getting to me now.
  3. Is it XFM MANCHESTER we'll need tomorrow, or the London one. I guess each one plays different stuff right?

Buy sheet music of bands you like, like Coldplay. You'll enjoy learning more if you're playing stuff you like. That's how I started. Get a big book of chords too with diagrams showing what keys make up each chord, handy when you're starting out. Try ultimate-guitar.net and look up tabs/chords and just play them on piano. If you want a bit of variety then look at how Tim Rice-Oxley plays piano for Keane, his style is quite different to a lot of other people, and plays piano like you would a guitar, and I don't just mean in terms of the sound he gets from it. And have fun.
  5. Imagine IF Tim had joined Coldplay - would have changed the course of history as we know it!

Reminds me of bones sinking into the earth of no-man's land.
  7. Ripped the bit on Jo Whiley's show where she talks about Viva La Vida. Sorry if it's already been ripped! http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2310065#post2310065
  8. Jo Whiley talking about Viva La Vida on her show on Friday.
  9. I just listened to your Anchored Demo, I really like it a lot. What software did you use to put it together?
  10. It works?! Excellent lol, I've tried for ages to get that to work on my laptop but no luck so far. I even have an external soundcard for it too - I must be doing something wrong? Must try again... Anyway, glad that's working for you. It's great for ripping radio shows, and with BBC's listen again for 7 days it's handy if you hear something and you want to listen again and record it etc. Hope you get a decent recording of Violet Hill :)
  11. Yeah and Chris asked Tim Rice-Oxley to join Coldplay at some point very early on if I remember correctly.
  12. I know how you feel. Our manager 'resigned' a few years so our goalkeeper, who was the same age as us, about 16, somehow ended up being our manager. I can't remember how that came about, and who chose him. Anyway, he was a knob. And he was the same age as us, which really pissed me off. You have to earn respect but he just expected it all of a sudden, god he was annoying. Anyway, I retired at the ripe old age of 18. I lost an interest in it and all of us went out separate ways for university. But it's a sad fact that in life you will come across idiots - just hope I haven't come across as one!
  13. Yeah no wires required. Just one thing, would you be recording from a desktop computer or a laptop? Because the "What U Hear" option for recording on Audacity doesn't seem to be available on laptops for some reason - not mine anyway, apparently something to do with the way laptops are wired and the soundcards they use? (i'm not really sure!) If you're using a desktop it should be no problem.
  14. Yeah I did, I came across it yesterday amongst a load of b-sides, interviews, videos and random stuff. Can't remember which b-sides are actually on it, but I remember it having quite a pretty album cover. Respect to whoever designed it lol.
  15. Have you used Audacity before? http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/ That's what I'll be using.
  16. Coldplay Keane Richard Ashcroft The Verve Joss Stone Madness The Who Embrace The Coral Snow Patrol Travis Ed Harcourt Captain Corinne Bailey Rae
  17. There's a huge 2 page spread in today's Mail analysing her recent forrays into high-heels and pretty dresses, asking if it's a sign that her marriage is on the rocks.
  18. Well for me it's perfect, thanks very much. Good job - the song and the video do go together well don't they :)
  19. Yeah, I hope I don't over do it on Violet Hill and get sick of it after a week. I'll have to ration my listenings, or listen to it backwards or something to keep me ticking over until the album release.
  20. Thanks mate, much appreciated. Must add more to the first 1 when I get a minute, I've got that 'riff' and some lyrics for the chorus and that's it. I got the sound for the last one by turning the reverb right up and holding my foot down on the sustain pedal. I'm hoping to get some guitar effects and amps for my piano, since the thought of learning the actual guitar is far too scary to contemplate, so I'll cheat instead. I'm from Liverpool by the way.
  21. They'll just be the 3 different snares he used during the recording process for AROBTTH I guess.
  22. I had a little boogy last night and quite liked what I came up with so decided to post to MySpace. Not perfect and not very long at all. Sorry for the few mistakes - not figured out how to keep my composure whilst hands are excessively sweating. Anyone that wants to add drums, bass and guitar and vocals for me get in touch lol. Don't worry if you think it's crap, I'm still learning and any piano experts out there would be appalled at my technique. http://www.myspace.com/paikeamusic
  23. This is obviously not as interesting and groundbreaking as I initially thought lol, or I'm very wrong and nobody has the heart to tell me. Back to geeksville.
  24. Side project = solo stuff with Cascada as 'backing band'?
  25. Jo Whiley just said the premiere is on HER show on Tuesday - so is it BBC6 or Radio1????
