Are You Dressing Up For Halloween?
Yes, actually. I wouldn't normally, BUT a professor is offering us extra credit points if we do (because we asked her to). It's a killer hard class (medical anthropology...oy), and we have a huge essay exam that day. I guess she figures we'll do anything to get the extra points. Shes right. I think she just wants to laugh at all us old college 'kids' all dressed up. Perhaps it will help ease the tension of the test taking environment.... :P

Humans living far beyond planet's means, warns WWF
I'll be back to this thread later..... I don't have time at the moment to debate this. Please, at least, take a look and READ the SCIENTIFIC (since you seem to be caught up in the science of it all) report in the link I posted.

- Coldplayers For Coldplayers CD...Deadline Extended to December 15th.

(ok, I know this is a bit of an unnecessary bump for a semi-outdated thread, but....) APE (Artists Project Earth) has a Myspace (who doesn't these days, eh?) and somehow I got a friend request. :P Check it out, if you're interested: http://www.myspace.com/120993301 Looks like some of the sale proceeds will go to help future natural disaster areas. They are also eager that this album will raise awareness about the devastating (deadly) effects of global climate change. I personally like it! Those lively Cuban rhythms pair up well with their chosen cover songs - especially Arctic Monkeys - Dancing Shoes! - Makes me really want to dance!- Unfair trade
I posted some links here: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35025 (3rd post down). The 4th link does a fine job of explaining the concept fair trade (in a short little video), and how its practice can help marginalized producers/farmers become self-sustaining (allowing them a living wage and sustainable development) while still participating in the global market. Go here: http://www.eq.tv/ This thread would be a great place to start up a lively discussion about fair trade...if people have questions/comments about what it is, post them here!- CCC [Project]: The $1.36 Campaign - Over $1300 USD raised!!
Just sent out a little newsletter/progress report about this project to all those who have donated so far. If you failed to receive a copy, PM me your email address and I'll send it to you. Or if you would just like a copy, regardless of whether you've donated or not, PM me also! :nice:- ^ < v Game

^ EXCELLENT CHOICE- Sufjan Stevens
Yes. And I'd go so far to say it's one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard. May sound silly, but it brings me to tears everytime. It's so sweeping and powerful. Me = Obsessed too.- Sufjan Stevens
:sombrero: Hey, wait a second........ I see a resemblance! Sufjan is down with the fiesta idea. :P The song that I can't stop listening to is The Lord God Bird. I honestly put it on repeat for hours. I love the story that brought it about as well....- Sufjan Stevens
No prob Marisa. :) In my experience, PBS airs their shows at different times in different parts of the country....just keep checking. TLo, I'm in love with your avi/sig ensemble! I wouldn't say it's an 'overdose'...that has such negative implications. Let's call it a Sufjan Fiesta! That sounds better, doesn't it?- Sufjan Stevens
HEADS UP! Sufjan is going to perform on Austin City Limits (ch. PBS in the US). He is listed for Nov. 4th, but it's best to check your local guides. :nice: I look forward to this...- Just Champion! Coldplay star back home for university opening
As an anthropologist/archaeologist in training, I really think it's cool that Will grew up with this type of background. He even studied anthro in University himself! Makes me feel like I have some little bitty connection with him, or...something. :P Anthropologists unite! :D (And didn't Jon study astronomy?....because this happens to be a huge hobby of mine as well (note username). Yessssss, I love these guys!) Humm, U of Southampton has a postgrad degree in archaeology....and I am looking into grad schools....:idea2:- [Article] Fairtrade - November 2006: Would you buy fair trade?
When I can, I do (especially the chocolate, just because it's so tempting! :P). However, FT alternatives aren't as readily available in the States (yet). Here are some links of interest (be sure to check out the 4th link down the list): Oxfam - Make Trade Fair Wikipedia - Fair Trade Transfair USA Fair Trade : The Story - an educational video - recommended - a great 8min video overview of the processes and benefits of fair trade (for all who are involved)- ~*~ The Official Will Champion Appreciation Thread ~*~
