yeah, a lot of modest mouse fans are pretentious "indier-than-thou" pricks. i couldn't care less, honestly, unless they start touring in arenas that are too big to enjoy a show.

i don't have the dvd, but i'm actually thinking about getting it... (for me, actually buying a movie is a big deal because i hardly ever watch them :lol: )

Has anybody else seen this? I finally saw it last night, and I was thoroughly impressed. Sofia Coppola certainly got some of her father's genes. And Bill Murray gave a career performance, not just in the comedic parts, but at the very end... absolutely heartbreaking (there's something I NEVER thought I'd say about Bill Murray), but not in the "sob out loud" kind of way. It's remarkably subtle. He deserves every bit of recognition he's gotten for it. Anyway, if you haven't seen it, and want to see a movie that actually ends like things do in real life, I would highly recommend it. (sorry if there's already a thread about this somewhere)

let's see... i had to walk a long way to get a perscription filled because the CVS four blocks from my house didn't have it. other than that, my day went pretty smoothly. :P

i can honestly say that all i want from life is to live completely stress free. of course i might as well be wishing that i owned the planet saturn, because that's just about as likely to happen.

that board is garish. i can't stand to look at those colors for more than a minute at a time.

it means that when i first get into relationships, it seems like the girl is always chasing me, and by the time we break up, it's always me begging pathetically for a second chance. :rolleyes:

well, there are lots of bassists that use distortion. tim commerford from rage against the machine (who also uses a wah pedal) and robert sledge from ben folds five are two right off the top of my head... and if you're going to buy an amp, there are lots of online retailers that you can shop around with that are going to be cheaper than retail chains and you'll have the same warrantees and such. http://www.musiciansfriend.com http://www.music123.com http://www.zzounds.com are all good places to start... they're all essentially the same, with some variation in stock.

oh and "Capture the Flag" is the first song on "You Forgot it in People," but it's not really so much of a song... just kind of an intro until they slam your face with "KC Accidental."

yeah... the other day i was walking around singing a built to spill song and somebody i knew stopped me and said "oh my god! you like BTS?" to which i responded, "what the hell is BTS?"

somehow my relationships always seem to start with me as a cake and end with me as a tart.

i don't think i paid $80 for my e-bow, and it was new... can't remember where i got it though...

when i played bass in a band, i used a guitar distortion pedal from time to time, but if you're going to go that route, find one that sounds unbelievably thick and bottom heavy when you play a guitar with it, because otherwise it's going to sound like crap. there are also distortion pedals for bass, as well as wah pedals, "bass synth" pedals (which are basically auto-wahs), and an array of other things. look around at http://www.musiciansfriend.com. there's nothing stopping you from running any guitar effect on bass, really... it's just that most of them won't really sound as good. the bass player in the band i'm in now uses a guitar effects processor for delays and such. oh, and i'm pretty sure they don't make an ebow for bass, but i've gotten my ebow to work on my bass... you just have to be really careful or it won't work. not really worth doing in a song.

Strangely enough, "Adore" is really the only Pumpkins album I still listen to. Strange because it's the one I liked the least when I first got it, but not really that strange because I've just been really bored by most straight forward guitar-based rock music for awhile now. Back when I was really into them, my favorite was Siamese Dream. To me, Mellon Collie had the same problem that almost every double album in history has had: too inconsistent, and some unnecessary filler.
