  1. Great continued work here guys. I'm not very good with all these maps and whatnot or I'd lend a hand, but I really appreciate your efforts as I'm hoping to go up there soon, and would love to have all the possibilities to make a day of it but with high hopes of actually finding the place. I live near London but it's quite a trek up to north London and back thanks to our wonderful (cough) British transport infrastructure (cough).
  2. Japan is an incredible place well worth a visit. I have oads of pictures of geisha and the like, Japanese art installation, temples, loads of stuff. I'll let you know if I ever get around to getting my collection online. Maybe we can dress you in kimono and convince security you're a prop for LiJ??! :) (That would be pretty amazing actually, if they had some geisha types, or some sort of Japan-themed lights or effects for that song). :D Actually that's probably average for Japan so a perfect size really, you can stand out enough just for being foreign at times! Being six foot two I was somewhat noticeable the first time I saw Coldplay live at a festival in Japan. 30 000-odd Japanese, all calmly and serenely watching the band in the afternoon sunshine, and one tall foreigner in the middle jumping around all over the place like a kid with his first toy. Ah, them were the days!
  3. My word that really is some work you've done there - you have me convinced :D I'll report back if I do get my chance this weekend, though there must be some very local coldplayers living round there - they're probably camped out already!
  4. Age Six Racer how did you narrow it down to that one building, rather than the other buildings adjacent or opposite the school? And can you tell us how you found the four schools in Belsize Park? I'd like to go check it out this weekend but want to be able to check out the other locations too if I don't find anything. Many thanks :)
  5. Great find! I'll be going up there on Saturday probably to check it out :)
  6. I'm wondering which London gig Jonathan Ross's family will be sitting front row for now ???
  7. I flew to Sweden once but the plane couldn't land for all the polar bears on the runway so we had to turn around and fly back. I never got to meet those beautiful Swedish ladies :(
  8. Yep, it's been the whole concept of the project from the beginning.
  9. Yep, that acoustic's pretty unbeatable imo. Coldplay seemed to suggest on the radio show that they thought so too (great minds think alike eh lol). But I'm pretty happy with the sound of this as the 'not-quite-so-good' album version :)
  10. Thanks for that. Really impressed with the look of this and VH live. How was the show?
  11. Many thanks that sounds great :) Btw, who's Jimmy Kimmel? And can you tell us a little bit about the show?
  12. Anyone going? Wonder if they'll change the lyric to 'Tokyo sun'? Bet they do!
  13. Is anyone going? I'm thinking about it quite seriously now, but obviously getting a ticket's going to be a rather big challenge.
  14. Many thanks Jenjie for updating the thread :) December is so far away, it's just torture...fingers, toes, and all other body parts crossed for Brixton! Voodoo_geisha how small are you, you sound tiny?! There are at least six of us now heading to 110/111 area, if we all go in together we can probably smuggle you in in the middle of us all. Btw, do you have a connection with Japan? I've been blown away by LiJ since last night, best thing they've done for years for me. I used to live in Osaka and was thinking of heading back to see my friends there and to catch the August gig, now I HAVE TO!
  15. Really loving 'Lost?' so much right now. I've no idea if it's just a temporary favourite as we have so many precious goodies to come- but no complaints if it stays there for a very long time to come :)
  16. It took me a long time to get used to VH, but now I absolutely adore it! All the others from the album I was impressed with straight away, but it took me a few listens again to love LiT. A Spell on the other hand was best listened to thrice and then never again imho, but no matter. Lost? is absolutely incredible and the stand out with VH for me - classic Coldplay :) Although it has many of the hallmarks of 'classic' Coldplay also, I'm just not getting VLV however much I listen to it. I was chatting with another member last night on here about Spies, and how I didn't get that one either for a really long time, but I now love it (have done for years now:)). But this I think is different - Spies is quite a subtle, many-layered song, but VLV strikes me as being something that should grab you immediately and, well, I could see that but after multiple listens I still don't like it very much. It's ironic because along with Lost? it's the most predictable type of song that the boys could deliver (and predictable here doesn't mean anything negative - Lost? sends shivers up and down my spine like so many of their numbers in the past have). I was quite worried about the new stuff, but totally love the new approach. Just not getting LVL :(
  17. I'll be sticking to block 110 for the whole gig - got to really as I'm taking my sis and her bf to their first Coldplay gig ever (are they in for a big surprise!) One thing about the O2 is that when I've been there before the best sound was towards the middle to back of the first tier, with the floor sound being just awful, but hopefully they'll get it all perfect this one. I do wonder about security - they can be quite heavy at the O2, and as it's quite probable that there'll be numerous celebs, and probably some very high profile ones, hogging the seats on the floor (GRRRRR) it might be extra tight. I think the best thing is to assume you'll be sitting where you've got tickets for, then any improvement is a really nice bonus, rather than being disappointed. crazyduckette, your posts on the other thread have decided things for me - tonight is Parachutes night! :) It really is my joint favourite with A Rush; they do the low-key, subtle stuff just as well as the anthemic. The strength of the melodies, song-writing and lyrics carry through whatever style they choose, but I find there's something extra special when they take the lower-key approach, and I'm actually wondering what Viva would sound like in that style, I think I'd like it more. I had to laugh as I drove home earlier listening to Fearne Cotton (I think) on Radio 1. She started going on about how she was going to play some vintage Coldplay and about how if you played one of their 'old' albums the tracks were real classics. 'What will she play?' I wondered...surely something from Parachutes. She put on.....Speed of Sound :P
  18. A great review - many thanks for posting!
  19. That's incredible news Chris, I'd been wondering if you got tickets! I'm so happy for you and very glad I helped :) Hopefully a few of us will meet up and have a beer together at the show. Where are you sitting? Yes do come and say hi - join our ever-growing bunch of jumpers at the back! :)
  20. You, sir, are a hero. :)
  21. Sparks and Spies - what tunes! You both make me sad because I'm so busy listening to ARoB it's physically impossible to listen to Parachutes as well (though trust me I have tried!) Spies was the only track from that album it took me a long time to properly appreciate and love, but once I did 'get it' it was (and is, and always will be) sublime :) Never heard the first version of it, will try to track that down this weekend. ::Hayley:: I will put you on my list for people to invite when I win the magnificent choice!!
  22. Lol we'll clear that block between us - then I'll spot ya! :D And for the love of Godzookie, what song could have possibly replaced Warning Sign as your favourite???? I need to know what it is - and quicksmart - so I can get my hands on it meself!

I was at the IOW too duckette, and felt the same as you. It was pretty much the same set as the two Earl's Court shows (but without Green Eyes for goodness sake!) They played Warning Sign at Crystal Palace. I was delirious there in the rain, with the sun just breaking through the clouds in the distance behind the stage as the lightning crackled around us...it brings tears of joy to my eyes just remembering it :) And the first time I saw them in Japan in '03...up in the green misty mountains where the monks once dwelt...Amsterdam, Moses, Spies...so many incredible songs...they must bring them back!!! If I ever win the lottery, the first thing I'll do is book Coldplay for an intimate private gig, preferably a handful of us just chilling out for an afternoon at the Bakery and throwing them requests (with them free to disregard them or just mess around as they see fit). *dashes off to spend his life savings on lottery tickets*

I'm really with you guys, all of you - I'd so love to hear those songs live again. I hope I'm wrong but I really don't think they'll ever play them, even Everything's Not Lost I didn't hear the last three times I saw them :( I pray Coldplay prove me wrong, but apart from Yellow I'm not sure we can ever expect anything from Parachutes apart from Don't Panic or an occasional Shiver (which always get such a big roar when they're played...)
