  1. I'll be there with friend, sis and sis's bf, can't wait, already so excited! I've met a few fans at the last few gigs I've been to, and it's been great to have a drink with really enthusiastic people beforehand, so I'd be up for it again if there's a meet. The Pilot Inn's the nearest pub (outside of the bars in the O2) but is a brisk ten minute walk away. Nice pub though. We're in block 110 apparently, not bad, not great (we're towards the back) but you can indeed wander down to the aisle nearer the front of your block at the o2 as long as you don't stand right in the middle - stay on the sides and not more than a couple of people together (unfortunately). If you're near the back of the block like we are a good bet is the space behind the last row for a real dance and arms in the air without worrying about the people behind (plus it's right by the bar :)) Coldplayed I was really dismayed to read your story. Those people are the scum of the earth, buying up the best tickets just to see on to people with too much money for silly prices. Hopefully the lack of hardcore, less-moneyed fans at the front this time will make the people who make the ticketing decisions on behalf of the lads think again next time. I'm also reminded of the first Earl's Court show I went to. i had an extra ticket and tried to offer it to people outside to try to get a few quid back, and was nailed by the police. I could have accepted that but just yards away all the gangs of touts were doing the same thing, but in much less of an innocent fashion it goes without saying. The police didn't dare touch them, and the touts were laughing at them for it, it was sickening. So they booked me instead. Ah well. Viva la vida. And roll on December (and Brixton too hopefully :))
  2. Keep trying matey, it'll be there soon, never fear!
  3. Haha, I'll look out for the very tall girl in row K - if you hear someone drunkenly shouting out your username just turn round and give a quick wave to shut me up and stop the rest of my row demanding my removal! Also, if you hear the band striking up Warning Sign it might be a good idea to try to get further down the front and away from my delirious screeching!! :D

I've been hoping for a longer setlist for years but rather than extend it slightly when a new album comes out they've so far just dropped the older songs in favour of the new. Unfortunately this tour schedule looks as punishing as the last, so I'm not really expecting anything more, but one or two more songs would be really REALLY nice. I'm quite hopeful that they'll use LiT as an opener - an easy warm up without Chris having to sing or leap around. That would give us one extra song at least, but I've a feeling they'll leave that 'till the equivalent of the last tour's acoustic set later on. I too am really hoping for a good and varied set. Actually just read the Q article which gives me a lot of hope, they sound really inspired and creative again, and very conscious of trying to get away from the whole corporate side of thing that engulfed them last time. Hopefully they'll be bolder with their choices and give the audience a nice surprise each night. They also seem far more disenchanted with X&Y than any of the rest of us are, but they may be a good thing, as it won't define the set like it did last time. Personally I'd like to see the end of Fix You as the finale, perhaps have it as the last song of the main set, as it's just too cosy and been done to death now, but again another bit of wishful thinking that probably won't come to fruition. Does anyone know if there's a recent thread about 'what setlist would you most love to see?' This is intriguing me and I'd love to ponder a bit on that.
  5. Absolutely love it - thanks very much for posting! :)
  6. Go to the website and track your order using your reference number and email - the seat numbers should be on there by now, and if not yet then very very soon :)

I've been thinking about this a lot. I saw them four times on the last tour, and the last three sets were virtually identical, with only two changes a night, so I'm really hoping for something quite different this time. I'd most like to hear one or two (or more!) of the older tracks come back in exchange for a few from X&Y, but with so many new tracks to fit in to what is quite a short set I doubt it'll ever happen. I guess it's unlikely I'll ever hear Shiver, Trouble, Green Eyes or my most beloved Warning Sign again live *sniff* Of AROBTTH, which are all great live, I really hope they keep Politik and GPASUYF, as those are always two highpoints. I'm quite nervously awaiting the first setlists for the new tour...
  8. Me too! Row W - I'll be the 6'2 curly haired skinny bloke at the back leaping round with his even taller mate :)
  9. Sorry I didn't mean to come across as having any sort of 'special' knowledge, just use your head and you should be able to find a good spot :) I've been to a few 'sold out' gigs at the o2, and there are always quite a few spare seats dotted around, so you can just grab those if they're good ones in your section. Or when people start dancing in the aisles move down to the front of the block (as long as there aren't a gang of you blocking the whole access you should be OK). My seats are right near the back of the block. so I'll no doubt be dancing in the space behind the final row- plenty of room there to leap around, and you can be at the bar and back again inbetween songs :)
  10. I booked through seetickets and the seat numbers are now online with the order tracker on the site - I'm not near an aisle for easy bar access unfortunately, but there are ways and means at the O2 of swapping seats once you're in :)
  11. 4 tix for London on the Tuesday - see you all at the Pilot Inn beforehand! Good work! Where was that?
  12. Ticketmaster is an absolute joke - glad I got them elsewhere.
  13. Title: MR (or MRS or MISS) Initials: C (if middle name is Trevor then CT) Surname: Martin
  14. I fell in love with this song harder and faster than I have for such a long time, so I do know what you mean.
  15. You were expressing your negative point of view about others expressing their negative point of view, I'm sure you'll see the irony! Please don't take my post about your topic too personally, i was just expressing my opinion that you're wrong, without wanting to get into a debate about every single point. It's not really important to me but since you mention it i've been a member here for years, too, despite my lack of posts. And even if I was 'just' a brand new member on my first post I would still speak my mind, because that is the opportunity that life presents us all with. Cheers and peace, and love. Look forward to seeing you around Tracie! P.S. I've just seen that you've edited my quote in your post to include something I never said, could you please change that? Thanks.
  16. Me too - it's just the worst thought ever eh?! It's interesting though, my Gran lived in Africa for many years, and it was from there she travelled to China. She could have just stayed at home and had the same dish! (Though Africa's such a huge place there are so many differences from tribe to tribe, let alone nation to nation).
  17. This site's for fans to express their point of view on all things Coldplay, so I think you're missing the point somewhat Tracie. And from that perspective, I understand where you're coming from but disagree on almost every single point you make in your original post. To cut a long discussion (that won't have any useful or practical repercussions!) short let's just agree to disagree and unite in our love of Coldplay. Cheers!

Really? Wow! Why's Brixton so great? I've never been there (to my shame!) but plenty of friends have, and I've never heard such praise, but would love to hear your thoughts. I've always wanted to visit the legendary MSG and fingers crossed I'll win those tickets (as if!) Folks in the know have compared our newish O2 in Greenwich to that, and having seen Prince there last year all I can say (again!) is WOW :)
  19. My dear late Gran had monkey brains in China in the fifties or sixties; a great delicacy out there apparently, and (she said) was very much like firm yoghurt! I'm not sure I could handle the set-up though (in fact I know I couldn't, and could never eat the brains myself!) For those who don't know the monkey is alive and is positioned through a hole in the middle of the dining table: head above, body below. Then the 'waiter' comes along and lops the top off the head with a big knife. When the monkey's body has finished twitching it's time to tuck in with a spoon. Yum! (NOT)

I dearly hope they're not already tired of touring by the time they return to our shores like last time. I saw them at the start of the whole tour which was a great gig and inspired set-list, but the shows at Earl's Court and the IOW were identical sets and just no new surprises at all, almost gig-by-numbers. Touring surely should be a balance between quality and quantity, I so hope they get it right this time, but the number of dates announced so far makes me wonder...(sniff) I think the best hope is to win tickets for Brixton, I'm really pinning everything on that.

You should be utterly ashamed of your posts on this thread. Such a needlessly poisonous attitude as yours doesn't deserve a place anywhere on the internet, much less on a Coldplay site. I can only think you have had some really terrible things happen to you in your life to behave as you have here, and for that I pity you.
  22. A clear influence indeed! I can also see a few similarities with the Strawberry Fields vid, and coincidentally I'm going to where it was shot later this afternoon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ywg-PdeGVL0 Also quite similar names no, Strawberry Fields and Violet Hill?
  23. Lots of us remember that! Lol unless I'm way too old for this forum at the grand old age of 32 and I'm the only one who grew up on repeats of those grand old Monkees :) There sure are influences there, but I see more of the Beatles (who also did a lot of that stuff) especially with the psychadelic, fractured feel (see the Strawberry Fields vid for more of that) and the military alter-egos (Sgt Peppers). Long live this vibe - love it! <edit> Glen, you are absolutely spot on, don't worry! Another point - and perhaps it'sd just me, but I worry that the military theme's going to be too forced on the album. It was great on VH, but VLV also hammers it home. I just hope it's more subtle on the other tracks, but the album cover (though it's fine in itself) doesn't fill me with confidence...
  24. You're far from the only one! This could have been a sure-fire award-winning cinematic and deeply moving production, and I think they missed a trick there - in some ways the song deserves exactly that. Oh well, it leaves plenty of space for some of us to produce our own fan-vids, could be much fun indeed! :) Having seen it a few more times now I think the way they've done it is pretty clever. Low-budget, but brilliant, and as others have said vids don't matter so much now. It's sufficiently indie and arty that the places where vids do still matter (MTV etc) will show it as much as they can. It also gets away from that commercial ethos that they clearly now resent being present for x&y. It's much earthier, underground. I particularly love how the video makes the song feel longer somehow, probably because there are so many shots and things happening. My one grumble with VH is that it's too short (because I love it so!) I always want the guitar to kick back in again at the end for a reprise, but of course it never comes :( Roll on the fan vids, can't wait to see some! <edit> Oh and I think the leak we had before's been edited quite a lot in the final release, no? I hated the leak but love this, I think it's changed an awful lot for the better. Hope I'm right on that or I'm just going crazy with all the excitement of the new material!
