  1. Well judging by those pictures of flames by some of the results, I'd say your PC looks a little too hot for comfort!
  2. I found a ticket (I always do seem able to :)) but in the end I wasn't well enough to attend unfortunately. AS I wrote somehere yesterday, my best friend's girlfriend was great friend's with Will at uni when the band were strating out. I love her, she's great, but everytime I see her I always have in the back of my mind 'damn you for not keeping in touch' :laugh3:
  3. Original thread! Mine was a baby elephant in the womb, but have gone for this stone one in deepest Asia for now. Don't remember my siggy, but they're not that interesting to me.
  4. Not so sure about this one being filmed. On the one hand it's the biggest venue they've ever played, but on the other London crowds tend to be the lamest ever for Coldplay gigs. The special guest will be Jay-Z for Lost, should be amazing :)
  5. ^ So glad to hear you had a great time Denise :) And you're now friends with Will? Amazing!!
  6. If you're concerned it may be a virus, download and run Adaware, Spybot Search and Destroy and CWShredder, in addition to AVG. Better safe than sorry!
  7. Great post a-chan, thanks a lot for contributing to the debate :) I suppose for myself I consider them a pop band not so much for the style of music, but for their attitude now, and some aspects of their live shows (the backing tracks - both music and vocals - etc). It's interesting that while the 'no' votes are winning on the poll, there have been quite a few 'yes' votes. I wish now I'd added a third option 'yes but it doesn't matter' as I have a feelijng some people see the band being called pop as something negative, and so may vote the other way, when in actual fact I couldn't care less because in my eyes (and to my ears!) they're the best band in the world, and they could start to play country music and I'd still follow them and love them just the same. Oh wait, they've already started playing country music!! Ignore that bit then:P
  8. Tremendous pictures and reports everybody :) Many thanks for that, I must learn more about this fine band.
  9. I thought Simon was too articulate to mis-spell 'overhearing' as two words rather than one, but he's right about music therapy, it's great.

I'd love to know if anyone's made custom EPs based around the themes the guys have given us. I've made two myself which I'm rather fond of: The 'Serenade of Sound' EP: 1. No More Keeping My Feet On the Ground 2. Life in Technicolor ii 3. Gravity 4. Strawberry Swing 5. Now My Feet Won't Touch the Ground 6. The Escapist The 'Way Down South' EP: 1. Death Will Never Conquer 2. ' Till Kingdom Come 3. Prospekt's March 4. The Goldrush 5. Amsterdam
  13. ^ Again, pop means much more than 'popular'. The Beatles originally defined 'pop' music and it's grown and developed ever since.
  14. ^ Great review! But I know so little about The Killers, why does everything i've read go on so much about the singer and not the band? Are they just session musicians, there only to back up Mr Flowers and make up the numbers?
  15. Exactly, thanks so much Sparks. I think they're pop now, but do other people? I'm not trying to force my opinion on others, I just want some healthy debate. It's interesting to me to hear what everyone else thinks - isn't that what a forum's for? :)
  16. So many thanks for your input guys, there have been some great posts here. And it's interesting (but not a little surprising to me) that the overwhelming vote has been that Coldplay are not pop. I especially enjoyed reading Sparks22's and Chelsea's responses. I think the perception that 'pop means that the music is more manufactured than written' may be crucial in why the votes are against, rather than for, them being pop now. I was planning to list why I felt they have now become pop (vocal and musical backing tracks, uniforms, choreographed dance routines for Chris, etc etc etc) but I shan't bother I don't think. To my mind they HAVE become pop, but as I hinted earlier in the thread, I don't care, I have absolutely no problem with it whatsoever. The music grows ever stronger, the live shows more and more incredible. And actually I feel that they're redefining what a pop band is - The Beatles led the way, and Coldplay are now reinventing the genre. I'm hugely proud to be a Coldplay fan, pop or not.
  17. Desperate? To have one of the biggest bands in the world headline again?? Um, ok :\
  18. It's gonna take a while to go back through this thread but absolutely love the group photo on the page or two before this, and a wonderful review Jen :D
  19. 'Cometh the hour, cometh the Barlow' But no Lovers in Japan? Shocking!
  20. You're a fucking tool???
  21. ^ I take that as your final comment then, and look forward to your continued absence from this thread from here on in.
  22. I'm not too bothered either bellynelly, it's just something interesting (for me at least) to talk about regarding the best band in the world (again, for me at least!)
  23. A great post Zemy with some fascinating points which i shall get back to, but I don't think 'pop' really means 'popular' anymore, it's become much more than that over the last fifty years.
