16-Jun-08: London - Brixton Academy
I haven't got a ticket and I'll be there about five. If I had a ticket already I'd get there for six.

Doctor Who ???......
I thought it was great the first time, but watching again there were too many plot holes and things that didn't make sense. Moffatt is usually known for his very tight scripts and set-up, so I was very disappointed indeed. Forest of the Dead was pretty good though :) The next three episodes are written/produced by RTD. And unlike some of his other episodes, these do look good!!

Doctor Who ???......
If you don't like spoilers don't read the Mail's preview of next week's episode - it reveals almost the entire plot! Moffatt hasn't taken over yet, btw. RTD is still the boss and will be in charge for four feature length specials next year. I was really looking forward to the Moffatt years, but then I watched Silence in the Library for a second time and...:shocked2:

Track Skipping.
I don't skip a thing - all are great songs, and the album's short enough as it is!

Doctor Who ???......
Arghh...there was a picture up of the end of season baddie at Digital Spy earlier - looked mighty impressive! - but now they've taken it down :(

18-June-2008: BBC Gig - Tickets, Preview, Meetups, Review/Photos
Most welcome :) Do be sure to phone - you have the email, but not the actual tickets, and that's for them to rectify as long as you give them time. Good luck and see you there!

Phone them first and get it all sorted out in advance.

18-June-2008: BBC Gig - Tickets, Preview, Meetups, Review/Photos
I'm starting to think we probably don't need to worry TOO much about not getting in. 600 will definitely get in, and the highest confirmed ticket number I've heard of so far is about 750. With all the people who can't go I'm hoping almost everyone will get in (if not everyone). That's unless we hear from here that someone has, say, ticket number 800 or upwards. That said, I want to be fairly sure of getting in, I'll be arriving at half four or so with my sister.

METAL GEAR SOLID 4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS *OFFICIAL THREAD*
I didn't bother getting this as I don't know the storyline from the other games (and it's meant to be pretty much incomprehensible at times even if you do!) Apparently the ending makes it absolutely clear that there won't be any sequels...prequel perhaps?

Cheers Ron! Can anyone tell me what time doors open please?

Very helpful info there Drinky, thanks! I'm wondering a lot about how much they've over-ticketed this. We know around 600 will get in, and my tickets are in the 630s. Does anyone have tickets numbered higher than that (obviously post your approximate numbers and not exact ones just to be careful)? Looks like it may be rainy for the gig, let's hope for a rainbow or two :)

Yep I think it's going to be a free for all. As for someone pinching your seat, chat at least a little to the people you're next to, and ask them to keep your seat while you leave it. I'd even leave a jacket or bag on it (not of any great value of course). Even without all this someone would be pretty rude to pinch your seat, and certainly deserve an ear-bashing till they left. <edit> I'm almost certainly going up on the night to try to get a ticket. Can anyone who's been to Brixton recommend a good spot to hang around looking ticketless but hopeful?

You got a ticket for Brixton though politik*, didn't you? If so I'm insanely jealous! Not only are you guaranteed entry, but I think it's going to be more of a 'real' gig than the showcase the BBC show might be (that's just my feeling). Plus, no worries about the weather, and the sound and atmosphere will be way better in Brixton - the roof's gonna come off that place!!

Extra Brixton Tickets available NOW!!!
ITFCLocky posted the original heads-up on this thread, and has only ever made that one post... Someone from Coldplay's camp perhaps?????

Production Overshadows?
I agree on one or two tracks. Lost! is an incredible song buried in an over-complicated mix that the acoustic proves it just doesn't need. I'd love to hear a mix of the two, with the simple piano and vocal adding in a few subtle touches bit by bit, and then growing to that huge finale. I was a bit mystified by all the weird noises from Eno on Reign of Love last night too. I'm sure some of them do add that intrigue to the sound that the band have talked of, but it just sounds slightly overdone and unnecessary. All nit-picking though, really, still an exceptional return to very best form from the band for me :)

I'm most confused by all this hinting and whatnot around here lol. Surely the way to have got a heads-up from TM was to have Coldplay selected for alerts to be sent to you on your TM account (which I didn't, grrrr)... or have I missed something?

16-Jun-08: London - Brixton Academy
I'm pretty sure it'll be 5 or so songs from VLV plus 8 or so (probably one or two more) 'golden oldies'. With the main tour starting so soon, it'll be an (at least almost) fully-fledged practice run. I still hope to be able to find a ticket, and to join the leaping masses for this one :)

18-June-2008: BBC Gig - Tickets, Preview, Meetups, Review/Photos
If I was faced with that situation as a promoter, I'd first let the number of people without guaranteed tickets in to take the capacity up to max (assuming ALL of the guaranteed tickets come along) and then when the doors are about to close let in more 'non-guaranteed' ticket-holders, equivalent to the number of 'guaranteed' bods who didn't show. Fairly simple for them, but very stressful for us. Me too, I hate the phone! See you there Stephie and everyone else :)

You're not English?!! :stunned: Your written English is almost perfect - and much better than many of us natives! Great advice cutandpaste, think I'll do just that! Canterbury's a lovely place, bit far from me though so I've only been a few times. And there are quite a few Kentish members (members of Kent?;-) here - must be the water or something! Right, who knows the nearest pub to Television Centre???

Thanks a lot for that. Bugger - there goes my relaxing few pints in the pub before strolling in at half-six. Think I'll still double-check with the Beeb tomorrow, they seem a bit confused - they were saying that they 'definitely weren't over-ticketing' yesterday (which is when they must have sent these tickets out).

Interesting. Did the BBC tell you that cutandpaste?

Another long ass wait for LP5?
Great points JPB. Plus, I guess they'll be wrapping up this tour with some UK stadium shows next summer. I can't see them wanting to promote another album so soon, unless they release it just to complete the record company contract. I'm not sure they'll discard these tracks as readily as they have others in the past, Eno might take it as a slight, and it seems they're huge fans of his.

I got the confirmation email, but never one saying I'd got tickets, very strange! I'm wondering if they've increased capacity a bit and this is the second batch? My tickets are in the 630s. Thanks very much for your kind comment politik*, it really put a smile upon my face (I'm not saying you're God though hehe ) Truth be told these last few weeks have been incredibly stressful, but I've met some great folk on here who've really cheered me up :) Thank you too Cobalt - such a nice thought that the band sent them to me, my Coldplay 'prayer' did the trick eh lol  Did you guys get tickets too Jenjie? Really hope so. Great thanks Stephie, and great news for you too, and everyone else who's received a nice present today from Auntie :)
