  1. since the media is liberal, bush's caricature was basically a war-monger and Kerry being a hip-cool guy who likes Wyclef. I dont think that would make many people particularly feel safe. I think the reason why mom's would vote for Bush, is because Kerry wanted to make it legal for underage girls to get abortions without parental conscent. And he wanted schools to pass out morning after pills in schools, where girls could take them without parental knowledge. thats probably the ticket.
  2. oh no no no, After F-9/11 and the Bin Laden tape where he says "dont vote for bush or we'll attack you again" a lot of stay at home moms probably voted for Kerry, since Bin Laden has already attacked us once under Bush's control. I think kerry made a lot of people feel safe because his deal was that there wasnt a threat.
  3. the dynamics remind me of Remy Zero, which is a compliment.

  5. as for Bush, a lot of non-Christians voted for him, The church only compiled to about 28% of the vote. Most churchies are supersticious, and a lot of them voted for Kerry because they thought it was God's will with all the media hoopla going around. It was the hispanic vote that helped him out mostly, and the college vote was split down the middle, with the same numbers as last year. Seriously, there are so many half-truths in the major parties, that I could see rationality in voting for either candidate, because all they heard was supposedly "the truth" from whichever side they were listening to. Democrats blame the "closed-minded" church just to make themselves look better, when in all-in-all, I think Bush won because of talk radio and military. I also think Michael Moore cost Kerry the election, because if F-911 were true, Bush would have been impeached.
  6. ok, haha, now i feel more comfortable being totally honest. from a general perspective, I think its good. However its not something I'd buy, or even feel the urge to listen to again, but thats just me, I dont even listen to Coldplay anymore (i dunno), but I'm going to have to go with Tom on this one; the style just seems a little "played-out." Kinda like Nu-metal, except nu-metal sucks and this doesnt. My friend's band is doing the same thing with the brit-rock style approach to music. People love it, as they would also love Second, but I'm a bit picky when it comes to music that fits a mold. It doesnt sound fresh and exciting to me. Its good, and I do dig the vibe. I see talent and musical depth. I also see room for development, which makes me interested in hearing more in the future. Second, I think you've got it. You're probably way older than me, so you dont have to take my advice, but if you want to, great. I'd just like to help out fellow artists in any way I can. You seem like you're already on your way, so you dont have to listen to me. For all I know i'm just a blabbering fool. My advice would be to go against all familiarity, and do something thats never been done before. That will make you stand out above all the other bands that people will compare you to. Good luck with the EP!
  7. I'm diggin the vibe, rock on!

  13. Not a fan of Eminem, I'm not a fan of the way he writes. I guess I just dont like bluntness as a lyrical style. I'm more of a fan of imagery, metaphors, and hidden meanings within lyrics, otherwise, its just everyday speech that rhymes. I'm very picky about rap, I have to feel artistic vibes to like it, as I do with all other genres. Most rap seems to be a product of pop culture. I see it as a genre that focuses on image rather than artistic depth. With everyone trying to fight over who's the biggest pimp, or who's the toughest thug. Its ridiculous. The music, on the other hand, is made up of the same simple chords (if chords at all) repeated till the end of the song, and catchy "street-talk" with lyrics that try to coin the next catch-phrase. For example, Ja Rule. Ugh. Dont even classify him as an artist. He's a pop-figure, nothing more. A few rappers that I see as ARTISTS are Blackalicious, The Common, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, and Nas. I guess the rap I like is really clever street poetry if you take away the music. I guess its just too simple for me to want to listen to it more than once. How many rap songs have a bridge? A key change? Different time signatures? If rap were just a handful of artists, rather than a dynasty, I think I'd appreciate it more. There's a group that I saw live once, and they totally restored my faith in the future of rap. Its acoustic, its different, it doesnt adhere to pop-culture and simple formulas. Check it out. http://www.scratchtrackmusic.com

  18. come on! Where's the props for Leonard Cohen?
  19. I dont have one ounce of respect for Michael Moore. He takes facts and creates fiction out of it, which distorts people's perception of reality. I personally know people that can prove his "facts" as merely fiction, not only for F/911, but also for Bowling for Columbine, and Roger and Me. He just wants to shock people and make millions of dollars off it. You know... an interesting fact. After he made F/911, more people in Iraq died. He actually made the war worse. Why doesnt he do something constructive with his money and donate it to the families in Iraq?
  20. Couldnt agree more, but try telling that to the Democrats and the Republicans. ;)
  21. Did a search for Rufus Wainwright and found this thread. After reading it, I just cant leave the thread without giving my two cents. Think of it this way, there's two types of Christians: Christians, and Churchies! Think of it as a political scale. On the left, you have the Churchies, and on the Right, you have the Christians. Churchies are into Big-Church and Big-Government, rules, a system, etc., and Christians are more personal with their faith. More free-spirited, open-minded, accepting, and into Ideas, rather than rules that are set-in-stone. Churchies will go to church whenever the doors are unlocked. They also hate black people and homosexuals. They disregard the fact that Jesus turned water into wine and believe that any alcohol ingestion is a sin. They have no depth, so they take the Bible literally and word-for-word, instead of as poetry with deeper meanings. Churchies are usually similar to one-another. A Christian, on the other hand, knows they're human, and doesnt try to put up an act. These people live by the main principles that Jesus taught: love, acceptance, understanding, forgiveness. Can you find these things in a church? Unlikely. I'm curious... IF Jeff Buckley was a Christian, how is he a bad one or undedicated if he does something humanistic? What IS a good Christian? Someone who doesnt swear or do humanistic things that everyone does? When it comes to "sinning" The only difference between Churchies and Christians is that a Christian wont hide it and a Churchie will keep it a secret and put up an act. I doubt I'll get any replies, as I've noticed that I seem to end threads with my posts. I just had to put things into perspective.
  22. The thing is, Jesus didnt write the Bible. Men did, around 1200 years after his death. These men were nobles, rich, ambitious, power hungry. What better way to take advantage of a loving faith than to add politics to it to gain more power? That, to me, is the lowest you can possibly stoop. And evolution is still a theory. I think that if theories are going to be taught in school, they shouldnt be biased and limit it to just Evolution. Teach everyone theories as theories, not as fact, and let the students decide for themselves. Dont totally ignore all the possibilities, or else you become closed-minded
  23. I'm not a closed-minded Bible-beater, I dont even agree with the church. But I'll be the first to say that Jesus is my hero. as well as... Mother Theresa Martin Luther King Jr. Kahlil Gibran Michael Badnarik (US Presidential Candidate in 2004, and this is the part when everyone else scratches their heads and says "who?")
  24. Tuna in the Brine is an incredible song. Across the Night is awesome too.
