I've heard of an ebow for two strings, but its mainly for country music, one is good enough. if you want all the strings, get an actual bow. The guitarist of Sigur Ros plays with a bow, and it sounds awesome. Jimmy Page used one too. its rough on the horse hairs, and leaves rosin on the strings, so its quite an upkeep.

Bill Gates loses money for every X-box he sells. He makes a $500 machine and sells it for the same price as a PS2 to try and make the other companies go out of business. If you want action/sports games, go with the X-Box. If you're an RPG fan like me, the PS2 is definitely the way to go. PS2 has most of the games that X-box has, but not vice versa. For instance, Squaresoft games are only made for Sony consoles (and old nintendo systems). Plus, you can get all the old classic PSX games and play them on the PS2. Or you could always get a Dreamcast :lol:

just in case you're interested, there's a Casio (real cheap brand) that has a midi input, and you can put midi files on a floppy disk, and put the disk into the keyboard and play the songs (most popular bands have midi versions of their songs), it then shows you the notes its playing and you can follow along and slow down the tempo too. its cool. Basically like guitar tab for piano.

PS2 = not as powerful, but a lot more games, and better games too, a lot of Games that the X-Box cant have. X-Box = is the most powerful system to date. It has Halo. Thats about it. You can buy almost any other game for PS2.

no need to take lessons if you cant afford them. All you need is a chord chart. and the ability to read tabs. Tabs can be found at http://www.tabcrawler.com, and you can search on yahoo for more, tabs are everywhere. just find a song that you know/have on CD. and read the tabs while you're listening to the song. If you dont know how to read tabs, it goes like this... 1st string (high E) ---------------------3--------------------- 2nd string (B) ---------------------3--------------------- 3rd string (G) ---------------------0--------------------- 4th string (D) ---------------------0--------------------- 5th string (A) ---------------------2--------------------- 6th string (E) ---------------------3--------------------- the lines represent the fretboard and each string. the numbers on there represent the fret that you play at. the chord here is a G. so you'd be playing 6th string 3rd fret 5th string 2nd fret 4th string open (not fretted) 3rd string open 2nd string 3rd fret 1st string 3rd fret use your fingers and find whatever is comfortable to play the G chord. chord charts look different, but they're also easier to figure out. as for a good starting out guitar, I'd recommend these brands that you can find for around $200. Any lower, and you'd be getting a crappy guitar. acoustic: Takamine, Washburn electric: Squire, Epiphone

cant believe i didnt see this thread... the metal tube that you use on your finger for the hand that you fret with is indeed a slide. It comes standard in brass and glass. They cost around $12. Glass is more used for electrics, and brass is more used for acoustics, because acoustic guitarists using slides tend to use more force, and glass slides can break. Use it by placing the slide on the strings and gently push down, but without the strings touching the fretboard. the slide causes the string to play the pitch relative to where the slide is on the string. As for ebows, those buggers are incredible. I really want one, but they're uncommon at guitar stores. Its a small electronic device that you hold in the hand that you normally strum/pick with, and it has a notch on it. Place a string in the notch, and the walls of the notch have magnets in it that reverberate and slowly cause the string to vibrate. This changes the attack on the note. With a pick, the attack is instant, but with an ebow, its gradual, as if you were picking it at zero volume, and turning the volume up gradually. It sounds incredible with reverb and delay. And also, it only plays one string, the other strings stay silent. If you cant find an ebow, some guitarists try using reverb and delay, and turning the volume knob all the way down, then pick the note, and turn the volume up right after picking it. It gives the same effect, but an ebow makes everything less complicated.

I stay away from the radio and Music videos specifilcally because ot this. If I hear something over and over again, I'll get tired of it. And with Coldplay being huge, listening to the radio just isnt worth possibly getting tired of them. Not much of a sacrifice, because its not like I'll hear anything new/great, its all the same songs over and over again. Plus, my favorite bands will never be big in the US.

Cheaper by the Dozen last night. Thought it would suck even though its a Steve Martin movie, but I got to see it for free, so I figured I'd see it. Considering its a family movie it was really good. I give it a B. A whole letter grade was taken off because of Hillary Duff, lol. She seriously needs a new career, because she's painful to watch on screen.
