Musicians/songwriters please read...
i have to agree with all of you on the point that great songs can come instantly, but great songs can also turn into projects that actually make it seem like the song is writing you. This song of mine was kicking my ass for a while, I had everything down except lyrics. I knew what I wanted it to be about, but I had no idea how to express it without writing a novel. I almost decided to leave it as an instrumental. Yes, the answer did come in an instant, but this instant happened a couple months after the instant that made me write the song in the first place. So if you have a great idea, but its unfinished, dont worry if by the end of the day its still unfinished. Chances are that its not total crap, chances are that you'll eventually find that spark to help you finish it. Most of the best songwriters wont tell you that songwriting is a piece of cake and that they come up with awesome songs instantly. Ideas come instantly, yes. Dont feel the need to rush yourself if you get that spark. You might end up filling in the rest with whatever and end up being dissatisfied with the results. The key is to just not stress over it.

Films that you like that are really under-rated
very true. I just shook my head at that part. In the end, the hilarity of the rest of the film made me forget about that part.

Films that you like that are really under-rated
Punch Drunk Love (got honorable mention, but not many people I know saw it. Then it disappeared) Boondock Saints (this one came and went. Turned into a cult-flick by word-of-mouth) Kung Pow! (Everyone hated this movie, I thought it was hilarious. i've never laughed harder at a movie) Saving Grace (this also goes for all Sundance Films.)

Musicians/song writers read..
Always glad to help out when it comes to music. - Record whatever you come up with and pick out what you like and what you dont like. A lot of artists take a bunch of parts that they like and "recycle" them in other songs if they like the part, but not the rest of the song. And yes, you're definitely right about the fact that you dont need a formula. Formulas can be predictable. Infact, you could even use a formula, and then change a few note to surprise the listener and lead somewhere unexpected. - Find as much music that inspires you as possible. - perform at open mics as often as you can. Showcase your material to others. See if anything stands out to them. Ask for critiques. Make sure that they know what they're talking about. They need to be educated, not opinionated. - if you're writing lyrics first and then trying to come up with a vocal melody for them, try reversing it. Try coming up with a vocal melody first, so that you can be free with the music. find the pattern that works for you.

Starbucks
Grande Iced Soy Chai Latte, or Soy Chai Cappuccino. Not crazy about coffee, but espresso bar drinks hit the spot every now and then. Coffee, Tea, and most pastries are under $2 in my area, but I've seen some pretty bad prices in other areas. seven freakin bucks for a tall frap. insane. I've been a small coffeehouse person myself as well, but when it comes to having a job, the benefits here are amazing. I didnt even care for Starbucks until I got a job there. Part-time workers get the full-time benefits: medical insurance, dental insurance, I can purchase stock with my 30% employee discount (which also applies to everything in the store), we get a free pound of coffee or box of tazo tea every week. And the 401k plan is what sealed the deal, whatever percentage of my paycheck that I move into my savings, Starbucks will match it up to 5%. In two years, one of the managers has made enough to pay for her wedding and honeymoon. in three more years she had enough to send her kids off to college. I get tips every week, which covers gas and then some. This is also the first job I've ever had with friendly co-workers. People bash it because its cool to bash starbucks, but to me its just coffee. My job makes me happy. also, even though its summer, we have cranberry orange muffins! Check again! they might be back for good!

Happy Birthday The Chad!!!
thanks everyone! Hey laura! I've been good, been working and doing music, other than that, zilch. Where the hell have you been? *crosses arms* Jess, It was AWESOME! my actual birthday was fun, went to Renn Fest and got to act like a dork with my zelda hat and ocarina, ate sushi, drank sake with the family, and thought it was a nice simple you're-22,-you're-too-old-for-parties-anymore-birthday. Boy was I wrong, I came home from work one day and found a piano in my basement along with a ton of people, hahahaha. Best birthday ever, I'm going to remember it forever.

Starbucks
yeah, no matter where you go; from the city streets, to the mountain tops, area 51, on the moon, there's a starbucks. There's no avoiding them. We're taking over the world. Yes, I'm a Starbucks employee, and I love working there, because I get to hear people say the dumbest things. If you've had any note-worthy starbucks moments, tell me about them. Here's one for starters: A woman came in and ordered a grande iced latte. Instead of milk, she asked for HEAVY CREAM (5 grams of fat per teaspoon) she gets it in a Venti cup, asking for EXTRA whip cream. (200 or so calories in a standard whipcream serving, so this ended up being around double) She takes her drink, smiles and says (in the raunchiest southern accent) "you know, this has no carbs in it."

New Demo! "Out of the Cold"
it'll be a while... I'll be releasing more songs in the meantime, I'm going to work on another song as soon as possible, this one's a bit funky... and when I get enough, I'll start selling CDs. So far I only have three songs. I have enough for a demo, but I'd like to do an EP instead.
