  1. yeah, after reading it i realized there wasn't really anything new that i didn't really know in it, but it was still fun to read, and the pictures are great.
  2. beautiful, jenika!! was your prom on a beach?! LUCKY! and prom was overrated for me 3 out of the 4 years i went. it's always wayyy too hyped up. the best part is looking pretty, and you got that! haha, well i've definitely considered untagging all 400-something photos of me on facebook numerous times--i can't believe that many pictures of me exist from the past 4 years, really . but yes, in general i feel much better about posting them on here than on facebook. but UGH, i was like 13 in that cookie pic...yuck. but you're nice for saying i look great :nice:. at any rate, i love the pictures you posted!
  3. but since when have we been good at patience? :P well, two more months from thursday for us here in america...oh goodness. i almost can't think about it anymore, especially when i'm in class or something. i get too excited. all the same, i do wonder what the "professional" critics will say about the album, regardless of what i think about it. i remember being so in love with X&Y that the mild reviews it got in most venues bugged me. my violent passion for X&Y faded in the coming lights as i delved further and further into their previous work, but i must say that i kind of ended up agreeing with the critics. i wonder if that will end up happenning with VLV. though i hope like hell that it'll get incredible reviews from the get-go for many reasons.
  4. well if i had my boxset here, i'd certainly be hugging it. and i hug pringles every day, so because i'm in boxset withdrawal i think i'd rather be hugging that. it feels a little sacreligious to be saying that, though. actually, no it doesn't: coldplay and pringles are about on equal levels in my book :D haha, when i take photos of myself, i can't stand them. if i could make them like this i'd actually post them :P
  5. ^exactly. no commerical music magazine in their right mind would bash an album before it even is released, that's just terrible. it would prevent people from bothering to buy it, and they would have many bands banging down their doors. i don't care that none of the mags have passed judgement on it yet. i want to wait and make my OWN call on it before i read any legit review or even talk to the people on here.
  6. ahh, so this is why you stay up until all hours of the morning... :D hahaha, i LOVE them, semy! i'm laughing out loud now...i love the captions and the expressions...haha!! brilliant. :laugh4: and YAY singles box set!! do you love it or do you love it? well, i guess you do love it if the last picture is any judge, which is adorable by the way :nice: and keep the hair long. as i've said before, chicks dig it
  7. oohers, it doesn't work for me either!!! something tells me the coldplay tech crew are messing around...:D
  8. i don't know if this has already been posted/mentioned or anything, but the april issue of Q magazine with REM on the cover has a 32-page special on radiohead, which goes through every album track-by-track, as well as just regular articles and lots of photos i've never seen. it looks really, really cool! i can't say i've read it yet because my mom just sent it to me as a surprise, but i can't WAIT! sorry if that's been mentioned already, but it looks so cool that i had to share the news. if you can, i highly recommend picking one up! :D
  9. yes yes! (about the video), though i would have mine in color, with a nice little love story to go along with it. but a really long residential street at night lit by these orangey streetlamps with chris walking down it DEFINITELY would be incorporated. it's the kind of thing i think about every time i hear the song! it's one of those that i have my own little music video to. i've always had a hard time working out exactly what chris sings in "a whisper," though. i mean, i've looked up the lyrics on several occasions, but for some reason they don't really stick in my head, perhaps because the words are hard to make out anyway. it's probably the ONLY coldplay song i consistently mess up the lyrics with when i'm belting it out while driving :laugh1:
  10. i agree with everything you said there! i think geekdom is definitely something to be proud of as well; i think it's something to cherish, because in my generation at this time, a huge number of people are just apathetic airheads with no real passion or interest in anything besides their circle of "friends" and their little teenage romances. blargh. give me books, music and movies any day of the week, please. what is the definition of dork, then? i wonder if it's interchangeable for "geek" or "nerd," because i get called a dork quite frequently, though i count myself as a geek rather than a nerd. so yes, i am DEFINITELY a geek and have been my whole life with various things: space and NASA, the US political system, MUSIC, and now the creation and analysis of film and TV. but i get really really geeky about quite specific things, like coldplay, radiohead, the beatles, the edgar wright/simon pegg movies, the kite runner, etc etc. so yes, HUGE geek right here. i haven't built a computer, but i have written a screenplay, built various things like a deck, a mini-house, and a swimming pool, and i've read a large portion of the ficition section of my town's library. and my parents were engineers-turned-astronomers, and i did skip a grade as well (well, there's a long story with that). so: YES :smart: :book2: :scholar:
  11. i LOOOOOOOVE motion picture soundtrack. it's one of my all-time favorite radiohead songs. it's one of the only songs in the world that can make me cry; there just aren't more than two or three out there from any artist that can do that to me. ohmygoodness, it just hits me in the same spot every time i hear it. and happy birthday ed!!
  12. must. save. high and dry!!! i have to say that i thought it would end up being street spirit and high and dry. now i'm not nearly as confident. boo.
  13. ^it actually wasn't in an interview, it was in one of those coldplay books look at the stars by gary spivack. in it there was a track-by-track thing about AROBTTH, and chris said that "a whisper" was most likely to have become a b-side out of all the tracks on the album, and that was pretty much all he said about it, which i took to mean he wasn't that crazy about it in general. all the little blurbs were short, i guess, but that one was particularly short. when i get home i can quote it more directly if you want :D and swallowed in the sea really should have been the 4th single! though if it was, it should have had a music video with it, dammit.
  14. i definitely had a dream involving coldplay last night, but i don't remember a single thing about it besides the fact that chris was there, i think. damn.
  15. a whisper has never really been one of my favorites, really, but i certainly don't dislike it. and i agree with what everyone's said above about it being included to give AROBTTH more variety. it certainly breaks it up a little bit. though chris did say once that a whisper was the "most likely to become a b-side," so there we go. i don't think they're really in love with it either. and swallowed in the sea IS one of my all-time favorites! there seem to be a lot of SITS haters, which i don't understand whatsoever, but to each their own, i suppose. but SITS is my favorite track off X&Y, most definitely.
  16. just for me. though it's really REALLY painful once that goes. my campaign is to save high and dry!
  17. nice nina!! :nice: i looove the first one!
  18. bought more pringles today, to much eye-rolling and giggles. whee! this thread needs more love! :D
  19. HAHAHAHHAHAHA ohhh my goodness, the things on this site are making me laugh more and more today!! "I Continue To Still Not Find What Bono Was Looking For" BRILLIANT.
  20. i have to say that i'm still giggling hours later. i don't know why i found that so funny, but i did. oh man, that was priceless. this bit is what got me the most: "...a sweet piano ballad in which Martin pledges to love a woman until "death and all his friends" (which presumably include old age, various cancers, and an appreciation for the History Channel) turn up." an appreciation for the history channel!! oh goodness. i wish i had written that. brilliant, absolutely brilliant. i love how they keep saying "the album's weakest moment." ohhhhh god. i think i need to get out more, but that pretty much made my kind of crappy day :laugh4:
  21. haha, since i signed off last night, the number of votes for "violet hill" has exactly doubled! you CHEATERS!! interestingly enough, however, 42 has gained another vote...
  22. i'm sorry, but i'm dying here. i'm laughing out loud in huge bursts of giggles. this is PRICELESS. oh goodness. :laugh4: :laugh4: :laugh4:
  23. i think there has to be some sort of connection there. well, maybe. i think it would be sooo adorable if the lyrics fit that, though :nice: i get all girly about babies. it's in our genes, i think
  24. ohh that's terrible timing! the thing for me is that i'm out of here may 9, but have exams all that week, and you KNOW that's when the news is all going to break, isn't it? whatever, i'll MAKE time. most of my exams are papers anyway. i have to talk to all of you guys about this stuff! eek, but i don't know if i'll have a viable internet connection when the album itself is released...
  25. i think it's interesting that the song that they apparently almost left off the album is now the first single. i would have put money on 42. not that it matters, of course: like justin, i don't care whatsoever that i was wrong! i still wonder if the name "violet hill" has anything to do with jonny's new baby daughter violet :baby:
