i bet there's a backlog of hundreds of tracks that will never see the light of day, especially now with all the tracks that we know about that got left off VLVOD. the thought of all those probably brilliant unheard tracks just sitting in a vault in some recording studio makes me want to cry.

"amsterdam," if only for the title. i'm living in the netherlands for a while this summer, and once i found out, i immediately thought of "amsterdam" :rolleyes:

i said world tour, but i think glasto is just as likely. or an XFM on air gig sometime soon. out of those three, i'd like to have an on-air gig the most, because the tour dates sound like they're going to be in the NME issue coming out the next week. i think out of all the suggested options, though, a release other than the album would DEFINITELY qualify as the most exciting coldplay news we've heard all year. everything else is just GREAT to know, but we've had so many excitements this year that i'm not optimistic about this announcement beating most of those. which is fine, because we've had a brilliant year so far, and it's just going to get better! :dance:

erm, how the hell can you release the cover art...on RADIO? i suppose they could say "check out our website" or whatever, but i think it's something more exciting than just the cover art and less exciting than another album/EP of material. ian's theory of a radio gig sounds like a great one, so i think it's that or tour dates/glasto appearance. the station's just hyping it up, i bet: i think the most exciting CP news all year was getting the release date :D

i was listening to XFM today just to check it out, and one of the first things i heard was some lady going over the music news. she said something like "very exciting, we're going to play the new coldplay single "violet hill" right here on XFM this tuesday after midday, which is off coldplay's upcoming album, viva la vida or death and all his friends". it's sort of crazy, but at that moment the whole thing became more real to me, because someone out there actually SAID it in a voice that i can hear. i've only been talking about it with people on here and with one or two of my friends on the internet, i've never referred to it by name in real life or heard anyone else say either of those titles; i've only read them. i kind of gasped when i heard whoever that was say the titles out loud, because it was like a 100% confirmation that they actually exist and that everything is actually coming. my brain exploded a little :D

^as would i. i like how you included "deserter" and a studio version of "ladder to the sun" :P i do think we're all psyching ourselves up for something like that, though. i just really don't want to get my hopes up, because then i'll be a bit sad when it's just that they're going to play at glasto, which doesn't mean a hell of a lot to me anyway. still. more music than yet promised = best thing EVER.

if this is the case, my parents would probably seriously consider suing coldplay for being the direct cause of my death from cardiac arrest. i have to say i seriously doubt it, though. i think the news has to do with the tour dates or them playing glasto etc etc. something that'll be very good to know, but not a heart-stopper for us.

expennnnnnnsive as hell to stay in manhattan. and i live so close to the city that it's not worth it. really, i don't have a problem with any of this! as long as it's just one day, i'm more than willing to go, especially now that my mom's coming with me! going alone would be a bit iffy.

hahah, well "hardcore" is one word for it. "obsessive" also comes to mind :P frankly, i was originally planning to just watch it on TV because it was too much of a hassle to go and i have another concert to go to that night, but my mom was like "WHY WOULD YOU EVER MISS THIS? we're GOING." and my summer plans have drastically changed and placed me out of the country when coldplay's probably going to be playing my area, so this makes up for it! :dance:

very true. i'm going to have to wake up at 2 or 1:30 to catch a 3AM train to get to the city by 4, perhaps even a little earlier. still. it's coldplay, and i'm most likely not going to get another chance to see them this summer, so i might as well make up for that with a kick-ass seat at a mini-concert!

yeah, i wouldn't count on this, but if it happens than MAJOR squee! :dance:

^i suppose you're right, but i find a whole league of concerts more exciting than just one concert. especially if they say the american ones too!

glasto is a good guess for the news, i reckon. but i'm kind of hoping for something a bit more awesome for all of us rather than just for the people that are going etc etc.

^um, that would make my LIFE, but i'm not hopeful. still, if that's the news...:dead:. they couldn't make me happier, i don't think, short of giving a concert in my yard.

hmm. i wonder if that will continue to hold true the closer we get to the date, because it's a bit odd for it to be released on a friday, right? and it goes against what prospekt says. but YAY if that stays true!! it means faster leaks for the rest of us!!

^i ordered royal mail too, and while it kind of sort of worries me, i feel like it wouldn't have been an option if they couldn't send it internationally through royal mail. i figure it'll take longer, but that we'll somehow hear the track in the meantime through the board. mainly i ordered it as a collectors item as well, because i plan to have both of those songs on my ipod ASAP!

haha, yeah, they always do the concerts in rockefeller center, which make it only slightly more crowded than it usually is :rolleyes:. but even though it starts at 7AM, you have to GET there at like 4AM if you want to be able to see anything, i bet, and i doubt they'll start playing their song until after 7. it'll be a lot of standing around and waiting, but for a really really close spot at a coldplay, performance, i'm willing to do it! :dance:

now i'm even more happy that i have the CPing toolbar!! :dance: must work out exactly how to use the radio, though...never done it before!

oooh! even better that we now have a time! noon GST is about 7 AM my time, so i'm planning to get up early and then streaming XFM until i have to leave for class at 8:30! YESSSS. my roommate is going to think i'm insane, but WHATEVER. this is totally worth it :dance: i'm thinking that other bit of exciting news is probably the tour dates, because i can't think of anything else that we've really been waiting for that would qualify as more exciting than anything else we've already found out. i hope that they say the US tour dates too and that they'll hit my area in mid august!
