  1. do we have a quote of where chris said he wrote it for jonny? because i've always liked to believe that he wrote it for jonny but lacked the official evidence. i've only heard the story about that american girl that looked after him when he was "behaving like an idiot." which is also cute. but i think writing it for jonny would be cuter
  2. ^oooh, interesting! but i'm not believing anything until we either hear officially or its made plain.
  3. yeah, i've heard about the connections/references to 1984 (2+2=5 does appear in there) because its a much better known book, but we is like the precursor to that book, and apparently orwell was really influenced by we when writing 1984. i just found those exact phrases and the whole radioheadish vibe i got from the book to be quite interesting. maybe we just dont hear about the connections with we because its not as widely read? or maybe its just a huge coincidence.
  4. i know i've been starting to treat this thread as a "random radiohead thoughts" thread, but i can't resist sharing this interesting thing: i have to read a book called we by yevgeny zamyatin for my russian class. it's much like orwell's 1984, if you know that, and its all about this freakish futuristic civilization completely without personal freedom. the whole time i've been reading it i've been thinking it's kind of radioheadish in the way its written, very abstract with unusual images, and the style just reminds me a lot of the lyrics and themes in kid A, amnesiac, and hail to the thief. but what really got me today is that i came across the phrases "everything in its right place," "morning bell," and "knives out" while reading! i'm seriously beginning to wonder if this had concrete influence on the radiohead albums, but google searches are yielding nothing. [/random]
  5. ^ i think its been deader before. thats just me, though :laugh1:
  6. ^i've had somewhat similar dreams, actually, but because creating music is completely beyond me, i have no reccolection of what it sounded like upon waking. but in one of my dreams, the album was called "advent" and had a very minimalist, black and white color. in other news, my roommate's alarm yesterday morning just so happened to be "square one." not exactly fascinating, but it made me smile.
  7. i just found this extremely long dissertation on radiohead. i plan to read it sometime, actually. i'm planning to major in pop culture and/or mass media, so this stuff fascinates me :D. and i love that a (brilliant) rock band can be considered "academic" enough to write scholarly articles and dissertations on.
  8. so fricking hard! but i put the national anthem because i guess thats the song i least enjoy of whats left. it was painful, though.
  9. isnt round 4 scheduled to begin in like 30 mins or so? just wondering if i should stay up to vote :D (and watch more CNN)
  10. ^HAHAHAHAHA that actually made me laugh out loud. i once had a dream that my best friend was skiing on holiday, but was killed in an avalanche and we all got word later that night. my first thought when i woke up was "what do i wear to the funeral?" it scared the crap out of me.
  11. i had a dream within a dream the other night, which has never happened before. i had a dream that i was dreaming that we were moving and i was really upset at my parents for making us change houses. then i woke up in the dream really angry and we WERE actually moving. luckily, when i woke up later in real life, we werent moving. at least i don't THINK we are...i wouldnt know because i'm at uni. oof, i should call my mom. just in case.
  12. b-but mr. briggins, there are so many artwork samples in the book! cant i just include one or two in my report? :laugh3:
  13. ^if i had the time, i SO would!! 10 pages would be easy on a subject like radiohead. currently i'm reading the forward, but i'm distracted by the US super tuesday primary results on CNN, so its not going to be a productive radiohead night.
  14. OMG i'm buying DS just to play that.
  15. um, ok. so i just found a radiohead TEXTBOOK. its a collection of scholarly or otherwise quite reputible articles and essays written about radiohead in general. my eyes did a double-take when i saw it and i bought it immediately. i have yet to start reading it, but this kind of made my life. i want to take the class where they use it! http://www.amazon.com/Music-Radiohead-Ashgate-Popular-Folk/dp/0754639800/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1202246362&sr=8-1
  16. i have two: electioneering//radiohead undone//pearl jam because theyre both songs about voting and elections, and its super tuesday in america...:D
  17. thanks so much for that interview! i cannot believe gwyneth actually mentioned chris and apple and moses by name: she rarely, if ever does that. i completely understand that they want to keep their private lives out of the public sphere, but occasionally i think that she and chris are a bit too stubborn about that. maybe by using their names theyre getting less strict about it!
  18. *wags finger at annie, but in a kindly way* i was vaguely aware of coldplay when i was thirteen, but was too obsessed with the beatles to really give them a shot.
  19. still voting for kid A. still sad about MPS.
  20. haha, everyones got to get in on the coldplay news! do we think that 19th may could actually be the day? i think it could be...but i dont think i'm going to start a countdown until after we know for sure.
  21. ^double :( i didnt know MPS was so lowly-regarded. well, at least lowly regarded when compared to other kid A tracks...:mean: :P
  22. i just joined the group. wow, it took me ages to even know there WAS a coldplaying group...:laugh1: but i've been a part of debs's official group for a while, so that makes up for my ignorance, i suppose. i'm chelsea, with the yellowy picture with the camera, in case anyone forgot and wants to friend me.
  23. "...despite reports stating otherwise, their new album will not be called 'Prospekt'." and what reports are these?! i love how the (unfounded) assumption became taken as fact. i dont see how anyone could have taken the name "prospekt" to be anything more than a pseudonym!
  24. somehow seeing thom in a tie made me laugh out loud. but that blazer is definitely more thom-ish
