  1. i've always heard that it's the contrary: the UK paps and tabloids are worse than the american ones. not that any paps are nice, but somehow the UK ones to me always seemed a bit more viscious and a bit more hardcore. that's jus t my impression, of course, but i have heard that the london paps can be more ridiculous in general.
  2. oh god, the same sweatpants  and chris better NOT have cut his hair under that hood
  3. more "let's all pick on gwyneth"  'I fear that shampoo gives cancer to children': Experts fury at Gwyneth Paltrow's 'loopy' health claims Health claims: Gwyneth Paltrow has been branded ‘loopy’ by scientist after warning that products such as shampoo could be linked to cancer Gwyneth Paltrow has been branded ‘loopy’ by scientists after warning that products such as shampoo could be linked to cancer. The actress and wife of Coldplay singer Chris Martin says she was ‘seized with fear’ after reading research about what she calls ‘environmental toxins’ – chemicals which are present in everyday items. Miss Paltrow, who won an Oscar for her role in Shakespeare In Love, said children were unable to easily break down toxins and claimed the number of children getting cancer and autism was growing ‘exponentially’. Leading bacteriologist Professor Hugh Pennington described her claims as ‘rubbish’ and ‘loopy’. And Cancer Research UK said the number of children with cancer had not changed in the past ten years and there was no known environmental cause for the disease. Miss Paltrow, 36, has embraced an alternative lifestyle, raising her children, Apple and Moses, on a macrobiotic diet which excludes foods such as cheese and white flour in favour of grains, vegetables and beans. She made the claims on her website goop.com, where she usually airs her views on her favourite restaurants and organic food recipes. She said: ‘A couple of years ago I was asked to give a quote for a book concerning environmental toxins and their effects on our children. While reading up on the subject, I was seized with fear about what the research said. ‘Foetuses, infants and toddlers are basically unable to metabolize toxins the way that adults are, and we are constantly filling our environments with chemicals that may or may not be safe. ‘The research is troubling; the incidence of diseases in children such as asthma, cancer and autism have shot up exponentially and many children we all know and love have been diagnosed with developmental issues like ADHD [Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder].’ Miss Paltrow quotes Dr Philip Landrigan, a paediatrician at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in California, saying that children are ‘at risk of exposure’ to 80,000 chemicals. He adds: ‘Nearly all of these are new chemicals developed in the past 50 years. 'These chemicals are used widely in consumer and household goods, like personal care products, cleaning supplies, pesticides, paints, toys, home furnishings, carpeting and electronics.’ Dr Landrigan claims that asthma rates and childhood obesity have increased, as well as leukaemia and brain cancer, commenting: ‘These increases of chronic disease in our children are a stark warning that something is going very wrong.’ Miss Paltrow also cites campaigner Christopher Gavigan, saying: ‘Ever read the chemical ingredients list on your shampoo or lotion? 'Not an easy task. Sixty per cent of what goes on the skin is absorb [sic] into the body – so avoiding chemicals here is super important, especially for pregnant moms.’ The actress’s suggestions of a possible link between chemicals and cancer were rubbished by scientists. Professor Pennington, emeritus professor of bacteriology at Aberdeen University, said: ‘It’s a load of nonsense. Shampoo is perfectly safe, unless you drink it in large quantities.’ The professor, who advises the Government’s Food Standards Agency and was chairman of an inquiry into an outbreak of e.coli in 1996, added: ‘There has been an obsession about carcinogenic chemicals for years and we have been successful in getting rid of most of them. ‘It does annoy me when celebrities use their position to spout nonsense. They have a perfect right to their views, even if they are loopy, but they do hold a position of influence. You may as well ask someone on the Underground.’ Cancer Research UK said there was no evidence to support Miss Paltrow’s claim that childhood cancer rates had increased ‘exponentially’. Its director of cancer information, Dr Lesley Walker, said: ‘There has been very little change in the number of childhood cancers detected during the past ten years.’ Dr Walker added: ‘There are a lot of scare stories around environmental carcinogens but there is scant evidence to back this up.’ ------------------------------------------ i think gwyneth has a point, in my ignorance of science. even if these things aren't the DIRECT causes, it can't be good to put all these random chemicals all over your body (yet i do it all the time :disappointed:).
  4. aww, i love that apple has a blankie :nice:. and moses definitely likes his superheroes! :D that's gwyneth if you ask me, but i could be wrong.
  5. the concert needs to be wembley, end of story :P. and it hasn't even happened yet! but even though i would buy anything they put out, to really make it worth it for me they need to put up another tour diary...that thing was the best :wacky:
  6. whaaaat? why did they cancel scranton? if we get cancelled, i'm really going to be upset :bigcry:
  7. that's definitely true and that's what worries me :bigcry:. i can't be there till the morning of the 19th :uhoh:. however, if i recall correctly, somewhere long ago in this thread, i think kara said that when she saw muse at wembley, they were somewhat strict about line control and when they allowed people to arrive and form a line...but don't quote me on that, i can't remember correctly.
  8. there's going to be a voting poll up very soon, probably sometime tomorrow! :D and i squee every time i read that they're rehearsing old songs and that they're planning to play for longer at the stadium shows :bomb:. also, as people were talking about earlier, i'm nervous about how early we all should get there to be in the front and all that...but much earlier on in this thread there was talk saying that they might not allow people to start queing up until the morning of the event, since there's a concert the night before and there would just be too many people there all at once if they let the line form early. i bet they know what they're doing with crowd control, and i plan to call and ask them what the deal is like a week before showtime, but something tells me they're not going to allow people to camp overnight or anything like that because there will just be tooooo many people around :\
  9. :wideeyed: clothes next! i wish she would do more clothes-based newsletters...it's definitely one of the things she knows best!
  10. glad to see guy thought he got a raw deal with the puppet too  this was a great interview :wacky:. i love how they keep repeating that they're bringing back old songs (WARNING SIIIIIGN!) and that they'll play for longer at the stadiums

  12. haha, true, i guess i'm more surprised that he agreed to go out as a family with all of them there when he knew cameras would be present :P
  13. i know this wasn't the point of your question, but i'm bored :P. this is the only picture i know of that has all four of them in it: though it's not technically a pap picture, since it's obviously posed. i assume it's one of those pictures that some celeb parents let the media take of their new babies so they're not being as hounded and stalked for them. i'm stunned that chris agreed to be in the background, though
  14. i always look at the dutch website because it's the only one where i can understand the menu headings for the most part  i think it's a bit ridiculous that they don't have a US site and that they don't ship store-to-store. i know it's a european company, but it's become so big here that i think they need to up their services a bit...it would only help them in the end.
  15. yeah, no more concerts, coldplay especially, for me for a longgg time . i'll have seen them SIX times in a year by the time september rolls around...even my mom is beginning to think i'm a bit ridiculous, and she's seen pearl jam upwards of 20 times in as many years :dozey:. sometimes i feel a bit ridiculous for seeing them so much and i don't like to tell people, but it never affects anyone else for better or for worse (though perhaps it did this time with the bank account incident ) and it's so worth it every time that i don't care what anyone else thinks ever :D. i just don't like having to try to explain myself all the time
  16. i'm not a big fan of the newest album either, but eyes open is one of my favorite albums of all time, and final straw doesn't fall too far behind. and i don't understand where people get the "snow patrol copying coldplay" thing...like mich said, they've been around for longer, and though they're both softish rock with romantic, emotional lyrics, i don't see a TON of musical similarities. i see snow patrol as more cinematic and epic, with coldplay more...personal, in a way. i don't know how to say what i mean, so i'm not going to try any further :P

  18. your link is still not right, kels...it redirects to MY picasa page or just the generic picasa home. the part with your username isn't blue, which means it isn't hotlinked. you need to go back and copy the entire URL with your username and then come back and post it here ;) @grace: are you just talking very simple, plain black flats with no real decorations or anything? i got mine at target...i wish you guys had target...they're so good for the basics! EDIT: here's a bad picture of mine...obviously taken at a coldplay concert
  19. hahahaha, chris as a "country boy". for some reason, that cracks me up...i picture him with a bad american accent and a plaid shirt and ten-gallon hat and straw sticking out of his mouth leaning on a fencepost :P. yes, i have a vivid imagination :disappointed:.
  20. what does the madonna quote on the page on the left pertain to? if she's talking about gwyneth and it's an old quote, i don't count chris as a country boy
  21. i'm very sad snow patrol isn't opening for our show :bigcry:. that would have been PERFECT!
  22. a shirt like that? especially when out with the kids? hmm. i'm not a fan. and poor apple . i'd hate it too, and it must be so much scarier when you're a kid. i always wonder about the psychological development of celebrity kids...as terrible as it is and as much as it bothers them, i bet they still think this sort of thing is normal since they're so young :\
  23. i have to say that i'm quite sad by the fact that snow patrol are only opening in june and not may :disappointed:. that would be the PERFECT concert, my favorite band opened by one of my other very favorite bands :bigcry: anyway. i'm really curious as to who's opening the may shows, though i'm pretty certain that whoever it is won't top snow patrol in my opinion.

  25. oh my god, chris speaking arabic :bomb: :wideeyed: if i had been there, my heart would have stopped :dead:. this seemed like quite the concert :nice: i want to find moooore clips of him speaking arabic :bigcry:
