I kind of really like it, their jackets somehow remind me of Viva La Vida (the song). I don't think I've got another essay on what I think of it, though. In short, thumbs up! But I wouldn't mind a return to the jeans and t-shirts of the Parachutes era.

So you were waiting for 3 years, expecting to hear more of the same? They have moved on, grown, explored different musical flavours. Surely them taking a risk with this album should at least earn them a little respect. Besides, you've heard two songs from the new album. Only two, and theyre completely different to each other. I think you should give them a chance, and make you're decision as to whether or not Coldplay as we know it has died forever, once the new album is out. And I agree with the vast majority of the opinions posted here! :D

You're right, it IS perfect. I think this is one of my top 5 favourite Coldplay songs ever now. Absolutely beautiful.

No worries, Jacob. Hopefully mine will turn out better, since i only bought mine a month ago (and its a USB one too :dance:). But really don't bother yourself with any more rips... you can only be as good as your tools (or whatever the saying is :lol:).

Yeah, I kept anticipating an X&Y style Jonny riff to kick in towards the end, but I think it works very well the way it is. I think if it was done without all the strings, but with all the familiar instruments, it would sound very much like the 'old' Coldplay - thats because the tune its self is still very much Coldplay. Interestingly though, even though the instruments used in Violet Hill are much closer to the default Coldplay set up, the tune itself is not really one that I would expect the band to come up with. I just find it interesting at how they are finding all these new ways of mixing up their sound... they're really pushing themselves forward. And bear in mind, this is probably the only song like this on the album, as each one will be different from the other. I mean, knowing that Violet Hill comes straight after this song, it really does show the diversity on the album. And I quote: "There's something for everyone on this album".

Haha, going through old Pink Floyd and Genisis vinyls albums is always good fun. Ah, i think removing the background noise would do it. But I can't guarantee my rip will be any better, it just depends on how good it sounds digitally... i don't know. I'll try my best, though!

Well, it was a nice try ripping it, but it sounds quite "tinny" and flat, and it isn't really stereo sound as such... but thanks for it anyway! Hopefully when i get my hands on it tomorrow, I can try a hand at ripping it, and see if it turns out a little better. Thats no way me being ungrateful btw, because I know vinyls can be a real pain to get a decent rip from. For someone who's never done it before, it sounds pretty good! :smiley:
