Ask Zemy!!!
:wink3:  *Cue the spooky background atmospheric music* Well, I can 100% guarantee that the video for Violet Hill will be better than the one for The Hardest Part. But then again, ANYTHING would be better than an old lady in a tight skin-coloured suit. Yuck. :P Hmm... as for the free tickets, I see terrible pain, disappointment, envy. E-murder will be rife on the forums. I can't promise that tickets will be readily available, but if we pull together and help each other to get in there quickly to get a place, things will turn out great. Certain posters who spout nothing sarcasm and insults will be disappointed, however. *coughcoughnajeDcoughcough* Chelsea... if our luck keeps up, then it might actually be possible. The outcome seems shrouded in a fog of some sorts... or maybe I just need to clean my glasses. Either way, I can guarantee if that happens, it will be the best day ever  The Violet hill video will be available in mid May, either near the end of the second week or the beginning of the third. Not long now  Great thread, btw Tracie :D

Have any of your local stations played Violet Hill?
Since XFM and Radio1 are my local radio stations, that's a definite yes. In fact I tuned in earlier today, and they played it after 5 minutes of me listening. They also phoned up an american woman called Violet, and told her that Coldplay had written a song about her. Turns out she'd never heard of Coldplay :P It was extremely random.

If You Were Brian Eno How Would You Produce LP4?
Woah. Life In Technicolor IS an instrumental track, so I guess I just told the future right there! I wonder if it will have the hard pounding chords and guitar noise I was talking about, and thats probably fairly likely if VH is an indication of other tracks. My dream of an instrumental track from Coldplay is coming true!

Disappointed
You know in the last chorus of Square One, where chris arpeggiates his voice with jonny's looping 4 note riff, but in the opposite direction (he sings the 4 notes the other way around, if that makes any sense)? I think it added an interesting effect to that guitar line and made it more interesting to listen to. If they had used a similar technique in the VH with chris' voice complimenting the riff (to turn it into a 2-note chord), I think it would sound quite alot more interesting. I find it hard to use the proper terminology, so I hope people understand what I mean. Its hard to explain

Where was Violet Hill recorded?
^Yeah same here, actually I some of the lyrics in VH about the banks and cathedrals reminded me of the similar subject matter in the song 'Intervention' - I'll post the lyrics when i find them.

Real important facts about Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends
Locust, are some of the other songs longer than Violet Hill?, Because I'm hoping there will be a few longer songs on there.

Ok, thanks Locust :D

Where was Violet Hill recorded?
Its interesting, the reverb on the vocals reminds me very much of the reverb heard throughout Neon Bible by Arcade Fire. But I suppose it makes sense, seeing as Markus Dravs also happened to work with Arcade Fire on that album, and now we're told that "AF helped shaped our album". As for where it was recorded, we can only guess at this point. I like the cathedral idea though.

So have you heard this information from an anonymous source, or have you actually heard the album?

Anyone here use iGoogle?
Wow, i dont know why I avoided this thread for so long, but this is a GREAT find. I can't believe they have a Viva La Vida theme! Some of those lyrics are sounding really promising... and Post Cards From Far Away is there! Which means its most probably going to be a b-side!

Violet Hill Reviews
Just post random reviews that you find on the song in this thread. Here's an interesting one, apparently a Coldplay hater just got converted by the song. Coldplay - Violet Hill - Single Review By Gerard McGarry on Tuesday, 29 April 2008. Filed under Rock Music, Single Reviews. Tags: 2008, Coldplay, Thumbs Up Well, they promised us different, and I can confirm that Coldplay have delivered something different. But is it good? Hell yeah. Even speaking as a determined Coldplay hater, Violet Hill sounds dark, foreboding, and heavy. Less of the piano-sturbation, and Chris Martin retires the falsetto in favour of a more earthy vocal tone. Violet Hill is a song rich in texture: fuzzed-up power chords, wailing string bends in the background, and some very atmospheric drumming from Will Champion. This most definitely rocks. If this is a sampler of Coldplay’s new direction, then it’s certainly enough to persuade me to listen to the album. Unlike other Coldplay songs I’ve heard, this has balls. Gentlemen…well played. Thumbs up.

Thank You Coldplay!!!
Haha, I would love to know what that ad was for. Pringles maybe? that would be the most awesome thing ever! *Crunch* "Hmmmm... now THIS is what I call living Life In Technicolor!" Ok that was pretty random but anyway.

My interpretation/meaning of Violet Hill
I like the interpretation, some interesting ideas there. I liked near the start where you said that when the guitar kicks in after the first verse, its like an event has started, and things are heating up. Cool idea. I'd wait till all of the lyrics have been verified though, before going into too much detail. I still like it though!

A Spell A Rebel Yell
It kinda reminds me of Supernatural Superstitious, the title. It won't be a piano ballad, but other than than I have no clue as to what to expect.

I've heard Violet Hill: my opinion
He remembered the BAM BAM BAM BAM after each chorus, though. I think he was telling the truth, personally. Thanks Locust!

Did anyone Rip the broadcast on Radio 1?
I've posted it in this thread in multimedia: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2315359#post2315359

Did anyone Rip the broadcast on Radio 1?
I think its about 90% of the whole interview, and i've kept the song in for good measure. The only problem is, i was talking to fellow fans on MSN at the time, so you'll hear that weird noise happening every now again. But its better than nothing.

CHRIS MARTIN TO WORK WITH CASCADA + NEW SONG REVIEWS
Chris sounded, embarrassed, though. I don't know, I just hope you're right about that.

A Spell A Rebel Yell
Yeah, I should be able to rip it. The only downside is that my record player doesn't play the records on a perfectly flat plane... what I mean to say is, the vinyl slants up and down ever so slightly when it spins, and the sharp ears of some of the people hear might be able to be a slight change of pitch every 2 seconds or so. I'm hoping this is a minor thing that wont cause people much grief, though. Its only a very slight thing anyway. Of course I could try to use pitch bending software to my advantage to correct it, but i wont make any promises that it'll work. But yes, look out for the link this time Tuesday ;)
