  9. Rolodex Propaganda (At The Drive In feat. Iggy Pop) - Manuscript replicaaaaaa - Cut it, yes, yes cut it, cu-cu-cut it !
  10. At The Drive-In - Rolodex Propaganda
  11. Which means... ? Fender or Les Paul ? *plays Newborn on Bass, since ricardo and KoC already play the guitar and piano...*
  12. ^ +1 for AaRoN And I think I would add The Living End. Double bass in a rock band : awesome !
  13. That's right. I saw them live, and they kicked ass, unlike Daft Punk or Justice who just make up a mixtape back home and press play at the beginning of the concert just to put their arms in the air for two hours...
  14. Yeah I saw both The White Stripes and Raconteurs (twice) and they rock live, but do you really think Muse are great at improvisation ? Cause for me their biggest flaw is a huge lack of live improv. I Mean, Matt comes on stage, does the songs written on his setlist the exact same way 300 times all along the tour and it seems to me there is absolutely no improvisation. Even the little piano interludes he sometimes plays are classic piano exercises from Chopin or Rachmaninov he must have played a trillion times in his life.
  15. ^ Well in Europe it's not the same at all !! I have difficulties to imagine what you're describing about the States, because it's really far from what I see here ^^
  16. I can't believe I forgot to mention The Smiths. I totally agree, tEx, The Smiths should be more renowned than that, regarding the influence they still have today. Bands like Muse, Placebo and Radiohead acknowledge it today.
  17. Some might say they're the greatest band out there, spreading clever music all over the world, but many bands are a lot more inventive and clever, that's all.
  18. 1 - Take My Head by Archive (it couldn't have another title). 2 - There there. (the boney king of nowhere.) by Radiohead 3 - DK Island Swing by Dave Wise (geeky one but sooooo good. I mean, it's a really good piece) 4 - Rolodex Propaganda by At The Drive-In 5 - Concertina by The Mars Volta 6 - Napoleon Solo by At The Drive-In 7 - That's Life by Frank Sinatra 8 - Song 2 by Blur 9 - Super Mario Bros. by Koji Kondo X - Tetris A Theme (Korobeiniki), Russian folk tune. The two last are here just because of the huge number of hours I spent playing those two games, whereas number three is just a very very good and catchy instrumental piece.
  19. That is. I think the same way.
  20. You just don't know the good Rap artists. And Muse are not underrated. I love them, but I actually think they're overrated.
  21. I Will is missing. And Young Blood. Punchup too, but i don't like it...
  22. I believe if you mention them they should be great songs, really, but I doubt two or even ten great and deep and meaningful songs (if you can find them) can change the opinion I made listening to about fifty of them... :(
  23. On DVD I saw the Pink Floyd concert P.U.L.S.E and I can't imagine how a concert can possibly be better than this. Everyone, check it out. It's the definition I would give of "sound and light". But I actually attended to The Mars Volta's first concert in France and they litterally blew my mind. So I'd say : Still active - The Mars Volta All time - Pink Floyd
  24. This post is gonna be a novel. Well I like doing things completely, do if I don't get bored by the band in between, I tend to progressively get all their albums, then EPs, then B-Sides, then demo-tapes and everything they recorded alone or with people. What's happening to me is quite a good example : about three years ago, I discovered The Mars Volta, which I now have fallen in love with (I mention them anytime I can :-) ), and now I'm dicovering bands the members were in before (At The Drive In, De Facto, The Fall On Deaf Ears, Los Dregtones), their solo works (Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez) and since At the Drive In actually split into what would become The Mars Volta and Sparta, I just started listening to Sparta. With time, I lost most of my interest in the first TMV song I listened to (The Widow), but if you think of Radiohead, the first song I ever listened to remains my favourite (it's No Surprises). Well it can be summed up like that : if i like a band I get to know their whole universe, and time makes me have favourite stuff, regardless of what I listened first. About the language. I always learn what I like. If I don't know the language, it's gonna take longer, but I will learn and sometimes translate the lyrics so that I can really understand what the song is about. That's quite how I learned English.
  25. +1 for sex pistols David Watts, I think every Nirvana song is a remake of just one. They're all exactly the same : verse chorus verse chorus bridge chorus a million times to make it last more than two minutes (examples : Rape Me, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come As You Are, You Know You're Right and soooo many others). Never more than 6 chords. Just the lyrics change, and I know I'll rot in hell for writing this, but Kurt Cobain never could sing properly. Sorry but it's the feeling I got after about a year listening to them. No band could bore me more than them (except maybe 0asis, but it's not a band to me).
