  1. The Mars Volta Pink Floyd Radiohead Archive Porcupine Tree
  2. Aaah that's a hazardous thread... whatever you write it's gonna piss off someone. I think underrated bands are : Archive The Hoosiers (their vocalist is fantastic) The Mars Volta (they should be the world's n°1 band but they're almost unknown) About what you wrote, NeSs1776, I agree about Oasis (totally), but not about Radiohead and Pink Floyd (at all). The problem with those two bands if that if you don't put yourself a hundred percent into their music, you really don't get what makes them so special. So, overrated : AC/DC Nirvana (two chords and you rule the world) The Rolling Stones (not even a rock band to me) Oasis (not even a band to me) Alright. You can throw your stones...
  3. Many of those I had in mind are already listed above. I'd say two more : The dø - A Mouthful -> a clever mix of many various styles by two great French artists (no French lyrics) The Mars Volta - The Bedlam In Goliath -> really not the best album from this extraordinarily good band. All other albums absolutely terrific. The Mars Volta is the band I would recommend to anyone anytime : i think if there is one band in the decade no one should miss, it would be them.
  4. Hello. I'm reviving this thread because I think everyone should know this band, maybe the best musical experience in this decade. I've been away since may 2007 and i'm shocked no one talked about them since then !! Everyone who reads this, just check them out, they kick ass. I saw them live last march, and it was the most mind-blowing concert I ever attended.
  5. See my suggestions in the two threads quoted above : Explosions In The Sky, Pink Floyd (Atom Heart Mother)
  6. I don't have vids but I guess those are great covers : Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah Muse - Feeling Good Placebo - Bigmouth Strikes Again and Running Up That Hill The Mars Volta - Candy And A Currant Bun Radiohead - Unravel, The Headmaster's Ritual I-lulu - Just Some japanese band with a name I can't spell because it's Japanese ideograms - Everything In Its Right Place Some other Jap band with the same problem - Idioteque and : Snow Patrol - Crazy In Love
  7. Oh Come on ! Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory before OK Computer, Sergent Pepper and Dark Side ?... Give me a break.
  8. A stiaaarlight, I will be chasing a stiaaarlight... ^^^ Take A Bow kicks ass.
  9. Sardines. 3 people voted LSP ?? I was thinking it would obviously win the finals.
  10. I absolutely agree. Some of their B-Sides should simply be on albums instead of some album songs. Muse great B-Sides : Forced In, Con-Science, Yes Please, Recess, Bedroom Acoustics, Shrinking Universe, Piano Thing, Map Of Your Head, Hyper Chondriac Music, Shine, Shine Acoustic, The Groove, Eternally Missed, Easily Radiohead ones : Banana Co., The Trickster, You Never Wash up After Yourself, Talk Show Host, Bishop's Robes, Polyethylene, Pearly*, How I Made My Millions, The Amazing Sounds Of Orgy, Trans-Atlantic Drawl, Kinetic, Fast-Track, Fog, True Love Waits, Fog (Again). Spiral Static, Futurism, Fury and Glorious could've been fantastic Muse B-Sides, but fortunately, they're album tracks ^^.
  11. Wiener Philharmoniker & Sir Simon Rattle - The Beethoven Symphonies (5CD boxset, amazing) Dido - No Angel Portishead - Dummy Placebo - Placebo Placebo - Meds Now I have all Placebo albums on CD.
  12. So do I (i actually singalong with every song I listen to). I also sometimes sing Radiohead (among others) when I don't listen to them, like when I'm cooking, or having a shower, or working on maths... Radiohead is not very very hard to reach when you singalong (except some voices, like the highest on I Will). Muse is a bit harder, and The Mars Volta is extremely hard.
  13. Just ordered : The Mars Volta - Amputechture Guster - Ganging Up On The Sun
  14. OMG Did some people really vote Kid A, MPS, Idioteque, EIIRP ? Me : In Limbo
  15. Come ON. Don't you think all those stupid X-Band VS Y-Band should stop ? You are trying to compare how four people on the one hand and five completely different people on the other hand express their feelings and creativity, which cannot, as a principle be compared AT ALL. Of course I think Radiohead's overall music beats Coldplay's by far but hey ! Chris, who'se really not as depressed as Thom, gives his songs some joy and enthusism Thom never will. Ever. This is just different. And even though Radiohead are better in my mind, for me Parachutes is a way better debut album than Pablo Honey (haha !) and even better than The Bends.
  16. In a Virgin Megastore, today, I saw something I didn't know existed. It's a sort of collection of B-Sides, Live, Soundtrack and Unreleased songs by Eels (2 CDs). Do you know it ? Should I buy it ?
  17. The Mars Volta - The Bedlam In Goliath (GREAT !!!)
  18. ^ Well it definiteley depends on what you look for in a song. And we apparently don't look for the same things. Miss Snicket : Citizen Erased is really great to play too. Especially if you have a piano on which you can finish the song after breaking your neighbours' ears with your saturated guitar ^^
  19. And their second album Frances The Mute is one of the most brilliant albums I've ever heard.
  20. My favourite album from them is Ganging Up On The Sun, especially for the songs Lightning Rod, New Underground and Ruby Falls. Three great tracks IMO. The trouble is that they're actually unknown in France, thus finding their CD's is very very hard - almost impossible.
  21. I also have the DVD, and I'm quite glad it includes live footage of Pearly* : I really love this song. Plus the band working on/creating How To Disappear Completely, Life In A Glasshouse, Nude and Big Boots (kinda sad when I think about it)
  22. TSP. Why not including Fury into the tracklist ? (not that I hate it, it's probably my favourite from the album.)
  23. Music : 2 points of view. For mankind, I guess it's the purest way of artistic expression, because you start from scratch. In silence you bring rhythm and melody, unlike painters or sculptors who usually just represent a model (even though with some creative variations). So to sum up, I've always seen music as the "most artistic human art", something almost 100 % spiritual. And then in a personal point of view, Music is absolutely everything to me. I've always sungalong with music, since before I was born I guess (^^), and then I started learning guitar, and my father's last gift to me was a Bass (last Monday = my 20th birthday). Music keeps me going when I'm down, or bored, or anything else, and it's always in my mind, supporting me when I realise my dreams. Since I listened to my first seconds of music, I've always had some music in my head. It only stopped once : when I heard my Dad died, two months ago. He was the one who made me love music.
