Them Crooked Vultures
Why ? If you're talking about crooked vultures, referring to them as "them" and specifying they are crooked vultures, then you can say "them crooked vultures", can't you ? I'm French so I'm not sure.

The Thom Yorke Thread
He's a great singer and nice writer. He's frontman to a wonderful band and deserves a lot of respect, but yeah, I think too many people are too obsessed with him. As for the songwriting, you can't possibly try to compare Noel Gallagher working alone and Radiohead as a whole...

Who's had more influence on music as a whole?
I say none. Both are much too recent to decide.

Who is the better Bassist?
One word : Hysteria

Who is the better Guitarist?
Matthew Bellamy is the only truly impressive one among those three. There's no way I could pick someone else.

Who is the better Singer?
Chris Martin it is. I'm a greater fan of Muse and Radiohead than Coldplay, but Chris Martin is the best. I'm a singer too, and as Thom and Matthew's works seem are reachable, Chris Martin is very difficult to imitate. His parts sound easier to sing because he's impressively strong, but they're much harder than Thom's and Matthew's. Really. But BTW, Irwin Sparkes from the Hoosiers is IMO the best singer in the world.

Just Jack
Go ! It's really worth it. I really like the strength of his lyrics, as well as his veiws on stuff, like in Starz In Their Eyes.

what about your favourite song from MUSE?
Yay ! tauiwi, would you by any chance imply that I'm an Emo-guy ? Cause that would be waaaay off the character ! And now, please tell me how Bedroom Acoustics, Blackout, Invincible and Glorious (as examples) are for Emos.

Just Jack
I don't know, the second one is very very nice, too ! Just Jack is fantastic, and even better live, giving so much energy to the audience. I wish him to get more renowned in the future.

Music You've Just "Discovered"
I just saw Them Crooked Vultures and Kitty Daisy & Lewis live, and it's fucking awesome !!

what about your favourite song from MUSE?
It's not due to it's pop-ish nature. it's due to it's rubbish nature. This piece doesn't exist to me.

what about your favourite song from MUSE?
Citizen Erased n°2 is Space Dementia.

Your favorite lyrics from any song
Well, let's see... Pink Floyd : "Soon after dark, Emily cries Gazing through trees in sorrow Hardly a sound, till tomorrow." "On a trip to Cirrus Minor Saw a crater in the Sun A Thousand miles of moonlight later" All lyrics from The Dark Side Of The Moon Wish You Were Here The Thin Ice The Fletcher Memorial Home High Hopes Radiohead : "You float like a feather in a beautiful world." "Such a pretty house And such a pretty garden No alarms and no surprises Let me outta here" "One day, I'm gonna grow wings A chemical reaction Hysterical and useles" "I'm sorry for us The dinosaurs roam the earth The sky turns green Where I end and you begin." "Jumped in a river, what did I see ? Black-eyed angels swam with me A moon full of stars and astral cars And all the figures I used to see All my lovers were there with me All my past and futures And we all went to heaven in a little row boat There was nothing to fear Nothing to doubt." "I'll follow you to the end Of the world And fall off." "Jigsaw falling into place Then there is nothing to explain Regard each other as you pass She looks back, you look back Not just once, not just twice." The Mars Volta : Concertina "Mark these words One day this chalk outline will circle this city Was he robbed of the asphalt That cushioned his face ? A room-coloured charlatan hid in the safe Stalk the ground." "A mass of gallon sloth/They're gonna get you As flies have walls for feet A rapturous verbatim/You better fight back Someone said, but who'se to know ? And when you find the fringe/They won't let you The one last hit that spent you You'll find the ossuary/You'll never find out Spilling by the day/Yeah" "Who brought me here ? Forsaken, deprived and wrought with fear Who turned it off ? The last thing I remember now... Who brought me here ?" Muse "Please don't break my ideals Say what's fake was always real I was the one, you're on your own Take me back again" "I can't remember when it was good Moments of happiness elude Maybe I just misunderstood All of the love we left behind Watching the flashbacks intertwine Memories I will never find." "Look through a faithless eye Are you afraid to die ? Cause it scares the hell out of me And the end is all I can see." And so on, especially French rap that won't interest anyone...

Noel Gallagher
Quit this debate. Oasis no longer exists and wasn't even a band anyway, regarding the fact they break up because both leading members were overgrown spoiled rotten babies fighting all the time over spilled milk. Neither's worth anything. I'm just sad for the other members.

The Mars Volta - De-Loused in the Comatorium
I bought it today, and listened to it. It's a good album, but I doubt it's gonna be as brilliant as the first three, which were absolute masterpieces.

The Pink Floyd Thread
Ditto on Atom Heart Mother. In general, my fave album is DSOTM and my fave song is Echoes, but there are times when I'm in the mood for Atom Heart, and at these times, my God, it's just the most powerful music ever recorded !! This record has to be the most magical piece I've ever known.

The Mars Volta - De-Loused in the Comatorium
There's another thread. I'm a huge hardcore fan !

Yeah Richard Wright was a hell of a man. He's my favourite member of this favourite band of mine, hence the most important musician of the 20th century to me. I love everything he wrote on his own, from Remember A Day to Breakthrough (solo work), including for example Summer 68 and The Great Gig In The Sky. He also co-wrote A Saucerful Of Secrets, Atom Heart Mother, Echoes, Time and Shine On You Crazy Diamond ! Holy four-letter word !

Music You've Just "Discovered"
I recently discovered Zechs Marquise. It consists of purely instrumental music, that I couldn't describe clearly in a few words, but let's say it sounds like keyboard/guitar driven rock, with a few strange uses of other instrument. They only released one album, Our Delicate Stranded Nightmare, off which the last song, Our Delicate Midnight Opera is a complete masterpiece. http://zechsmarquise.bandcamp.com/track/our-delicate-midnight-opera?permalink

Most of all : her song are hers. She writes and/or composes her stuff, which is quite nice in this stream of commercial music. At least it's really her stuff. Plus it's not thaaat baaaad for pop music. Still I'm lightyears away from being a fan !
