  1. Hmm... sounds like a turn for the worse in Egypt, though I believe all who are not responsible for the totalitarian conditions under Mubarak ought to be allowed to run, granted they were not directly involved in the repression that lasted since Sadat's assasination. Any candidate ought to be allowed to run if they qualify for the basic requirements, democracy is about the people's choice, not the old hard-liners setting up their cronies to again take power - better to allow the electorate to decide, it's the right thing to do methinks. Still the nile crocodiles lurking in the shallows it seems...
  2. Because it's twisted, and thus comes out with a decidedly distorted sound. :P UWBT is indeed brilliant, many bright hues.

  4. It's a nice day, warm, sunny after a cloudy morning, then thunderstorms with hail possible later in the afternoon / evening. 6. How great the need is, and something to ponder is long-term solutions to the droughts and food shortages - pondering how much better off we would all be if aid arrived in the form of pumping and desalination equipment, powered by the near-constant sun and winds in the Sahel region. From famine to productive paradise, I think it's possible - how much more resilient and self-reliant the people there would be, and able to help others as well - problems like these we must work to make a thing of the past.
  7. ..a friendly person at my local credit union, who also bikes! :sunny::cyclist:
  8. I would imagine the risks from living where radiation levels are above acceptable levels depend on a number of factors, including the energy levels of the radiation, if and how much of which types of radioactive matter get into the body, and what low level, long term exposure does. Reducing one's exposure to other mutagens and background radiation from naturally occuring radon might help mitigate some of the exposure, and if there are any healthy dietary options that can help the body deal with the radiation as well - all things to consider. 93 million miles away, or 150 million km away - that's the safest nuclear power to use! ;)

  16. I think that could be funny too. :laugh3: >1.75" X 11.25" Laminate Veneer Lumber, doubled up, for two 9.5' span.. two supports near the middle with a header between. Or, two clear spans with one support in the middle, each LVL beam then spanning 13'. I'll probably go with the former, for aesthetic reasons.
  17. boiling water on a woodstove. in a cabin in northern Wisconsin. :P Just like that Bonny Bear! :elf:

  21. I'm somewhat shy about seeing my reflection. :shy: I was deeper then, maybe too deep.
  22. >> sounds like a messed up battery to me too, and allowing more cooling space is a good option, so I am told by a computer expert.. they often don't leave enough room between the bottom of a "laptop" and the surface onto which it sits, so they often overheat, and the heat must wear out the batteries sooner too I would imagine. << maybe get some bigger computer feet to put onto the bottom too, so it sits higher off the table/surface and can cool better?
  23. :laugh3:'Sounds' good! Actually, I may have heard Yellow first, but the radio stations playing Coldplay's music just wouldn't announce who played what song for any artists, really cheap of them - so only later on I found out, and then recalled hearing it before all the rest. A retro moment.
