  1. I thought it would be nice to see other regions of the globe set to music! Post what you have here. Here's a video from our area, which is set to some very nice music, if you're interested:[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dY8M8RSXem0]YouTube - valley road[/ame]
  2. Have a good study, Carla!:) Hit the pavement running!!
  3. Yes...:P:curtain:
  4. Vivaldi - the Four Seasons.
  5. Bono puts on a bit of a farcical "Were the Best Band Ever; Bar None!" on occasion, half-jokingly, so this comes as no surprise either. I suppose, he's acknowledging Coldplay's growing success, and it's just a humorous jab at one-another; nothing more. Anyhow, they've worked together quite a bit in the past. Maybe it's like watching the apprentice become the master, and finding that a bit uncomfortable? Sounds not too serious, yeah.:P
  6. Negativity isn't always constructive, but I do agree, he needs a massive push (as does the congress) to truly make the things he says become real. I find it unlikely we will let things slide that far, and it may require more efforts to shore up the financial crisis in Eastern Europe (Germany and France will probably have to come to the rescue), so that the economies in these new democracies don't do a tailspin either, and lead to something worse. But all-in-all, the pressure's on to restructure CitiGroup & Co., so that there's new management so-to-speak, and a restructuring. Less zombies is a good thing!:dead:
  7. Mummies!:P
  8. Mummies!:P
  9. I just think the media likes to use the one-in-a-million incident to scare the living bejeezus out of everyone...it gets people's eyes/minds glued to the set. I'll bet more people are injured from the stress all the worrying creates, than the rare monster hiding somewhere in cyberspace. Just my thinking - what's killing us? Driving while on cell-phones! Burger joints! Not exercising! Slippery bathroom floors!:laugh3: How many news stories about those things?? Anyhow, a confession: I tried the blue Play-Doh, but it tasted weird!:P
  10. Well, no technology is fool-proof. My brother lost his car when the puddle he tried driving through during a storm turned out to be fairly deep, and the car's air intake sucked water into the engine.:laugh3: So, nothing's fool-proof! But seriously though, you're all gonna get blown away by electrics - just you wait and see! Batteries pack a wallop of power, and if you add some capacitors, it's a power rush to the electric motor! The IC engine is going to be relegated to backup power for cars, I predict. This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius!;) (it might take a little time to work all the bugs out, but electrics will win the day soon)
  11. 758 Contemplate relativity.
  12. RaNdOm ThoughT: (Is there really any such thing as Random?) Is Yellow based on the sun, a mummy, jaundice, lemon-aide, or something else?:laugh3:
  13. And since when were Coldplay at Wake Island??:laugh3: Yes, these ticket prices are nuts! I took a look at Alpine Valley, and thought about how a bit too much the price of good entertainment has become. We need another Woodstock!!:hippy: Oh, and since this is Lore's thread: Hello Lore!
  14. :stunned: ..I was just going to confess that I tried play-dough once too!:laugh3: Yes, the internet is full of dangerous subversive elements; some have even tried play-dough, and they liked it!:P But you've gotta remember, heck, a lot of our parents went through the whole Beatle-mania thing, and the 60's and the 70's.. it's not like there's anything that different about this either... (but of course, my parents went through the roaring 20's..). Complete strangers - I just think there really is no such thing. Well, maybe those people living in the middle of the jungle somewhere might be caught by surprise with all this technology, but anyone on this site is obviously normal..:laugh3::P
  15. The wandering tribes of Judea had light blond hair??:P
  16. It's about a Mummy!
  17. :laugh3:I think we all need a blissful illusion now and then just to calm our nerves...;) But truthfully, religion may be a product of a fruitful human imagination, but nobody truly works alone. It's usually the deified models and ideals of a society, which can provide roles to follow. True, I think fear does do that, and has been used by some to coerce otherers into conforming to an acceptable pattern of behavior, and I prefer just an honest approach of cause and effect, rather than fear of some entity. But perhaps one can go too far in the school of pessimistic thought as well. We may dismiss to easily what is possible, or the improvments wrought by a given religion or philosophy. If the Easter Bunny brought great joy to childhood, even though it's fictitous, I think it has value in some unusual way..
  18. How about fishing in the ocean?? Add that, two loves of bread, and some wine, and you've got a party!!:P I was thinking... after the engine & driveline losses, braking is 40%, tires are 27%, aerodynamics is 20%, and accessories are 13%. So, an electric needs to focus on that which remains, and lets see-- regenerative braking could recapture half or more of the 40%. Lighter weight or lift components could lower rolling friction by maybe 7%.. Aerodynamics could be doubled pretty easily, reducing the loss to 10% or less, and accessories - better windows and insulation, plus a solar canopy would about halve that as well.. Of the engine and driveline, that's 85% off the top before any of the above, so really all the above stuff is what's left to save of the 15%. So, electrics really can save a wallop of energy! But for long trips, nobody would settle for a pure electric.. hmm I think that free piston generator idea makes a lot of sense as an efficient way to make electric for a pure hybrid design..
  19. O Tay!:P I doubt they'll ever be outlawed, since most of them just get trailer-ed from show to show!:laugh3: (besides, they're too much fun to ban; everyone knows that!) Hmm. . I think I would go for the Bugatti; I like the wood.;) Shelby's were masterpieces though, that's for sure! Anyhow, on the green car thingy thread here, I was designing an improved version, and was just realizing that one could add shorty wings with flaps, which could both aid in traction control, and breaking ability.. Aptera lost their bid for government grants for electric cars because they're three-wheelers, so I was trying to come up with a way to get 4, and keep the aerodynamics. Interestingly, the big savings are simply power plant and drivetrain; everything else is peanuts, but at speed, aerodynaics is big..
  20. I thought by now that was all under control pretty much?:stunned::shocked2: Sorry to hear that.:( Please be well, and I can only imagine the intensity of the fires! In nature, some things we can control, and others we can only do our best to deal with; life is a perilous adventure at times, and I wish you all the best of safety through the drought times.
  21. :laugh3:Well, I'm sure Carol Shelby would be pleased to hear that!! The older ones are neato, and they do sound like freight trains with those big-block engines, that's true. But driving one every day? Better buy a tanker fleet to go with em'! You had the choice of A Bugatti?!:stunned: How much money do you have then??:P Hmm.. would you prefer a planet which isn't undergoing a rapid transition to a different climate, partly from our actions? How about fuel which doesn't require us to dig, scrape, dredge, pump, or blast and cook vast swaths of the planet? There's a huge hidden cost to those muscle cars, although I have to agree, they are fun to drive & ride around in! ;) (it's a good Sunday car, or Friday night car..) But looks and sound are not the mainstay with vehicles for me - I'd go for a bit unusual and quiet, if the machine saves enormously on the energy side of the equation..
  22. To Cobalt: That's just to keep you interested! Besides, eternal damnation or salvation makes for a pretty stiff pair of motivators!:P (absolute fear of perennial torment, or eternal bliss? Enough to frighten the bejeesus out of any poor soul!:laugh3:) Why not a milder tone, and a Tiddly Pom principle? But to me, it's the interplay and the outcomes that matter most - life is where the life is, and where the answers are. To be remembered for the good things we've left with family and friends - the lasting memories, ideas, and other things. Hello Carla! Oh well, say 5 hail Mary's and you'll be absolved of all sin!:) How's the land of Sand and Surf??
  23. It's palm ash! This is special stuff!:P But perhaps even if you don't believe in life after death, the religion can have significance in how it affects the living and the quality of life of members of society. It's that interplay that can be improved in general, and to be compassionate towards those in need, as we all can commiserate with someone else's circumstances. It's a reminder, of a shared humanity. To me at least, the spirit is in the living, and the interplay of all life.
  24. Well, think of it this way - if you only drive the Shelby or 60's Camero on every-other Saturday or Sunday, then it's such a small amount of driving that it's not a big deal. ;) I think most people wouldn't anyhow, since they're so collectible, nobody wants to risk even a ding in the finish!:laugh3: But basically, we'll need to transition to some cool new cars, which can be hot performance machines as well - it's all a matter of good engineering. Light & strong, with powerful electric motors; I'll bet that electrics will outperform many of the current sports cars on the road today, and more so in the future.;)
  25. Stamped their foreheads?:stunned::laugh3: I'm trying to picture that... Oh well, it's all a part of the ritual, and for remembrance. To me, it's basically you get what you give to life & to others, and to seek better outcomes in things in general through life lessons. Appropriateness and compassion are essential to bring about the best in our fellow humankind. But also, to seek progress and to sing a more positive tune most of the time helps, but there are times when we all revert to a less positive mode. It's good to be firm and stand your ground when you see an injustice and it needs correcting too - where would we be if no-one did that either?? So we all have a role to play, and to each a unique part in the play that is life.. Socrates said to "honor truth"; but truly to gain wisdom, one must be stable; to be stable, one has to have love, food, company, friends, water, and sunshine. Logic alone cannot sustain us.
