:laugh3: Poifect! ;) Ernest Rutherford said basically that all science is either physics or stamp collecting. I suppose butterflies qualify, especially if they're put onto stamps! :flutterby: Thinking about bees, how they're seen both as individuals and as a collective entity, for that parts make up a whole which beehaves as an orchestra of sorts, complete with conductor and all the players. For more on this subject, and on other fascinating aspects of beeology, see: Marla Spivak - MacArthur Foundation

To study for finals, one needs limited sensory inputs, so all that is left is the material to be considered; that and the impulse of knowing how important doing your best is! Preparation is everything; the more familiar the body of work is, the more confident you'll be, and the easier the exams are. Like riding a unicycle; once you've done it enough, it's smooth sailing.;) Do some meditating, some Ommmming. Ooooommmmmm, oooooommmmm.

Need your feedback pls!
It's a beautiful rendition, well done! Nice harmonica playing as well. Your singing is very good, excellent range, maybe a little higher highs, more variation, deeper intonation, a little more feeling in it would bring out and highlight the emotional aspects, and more singing volume, a little less for the harmonica, but otherwise, very well done!! Have you been taking lessons from Bob Dylan by any chance? You may be right - learning from a teacher can lead to singing the way the teacher instructs, but many great musicians have taken lessons and still retain their unique sound, so I would imagine there are some excellent instructors out there. Or, perhaps you could just do more analysis of your recordings to hone your own skills, and study singing techniques separately to retain your own style while improving the unique strengths of your voice. Keep getting stronger lungs, belt out those tunes!

Random Coldplay thoughts...
Why is it that when I see "Hollywood bowl" I think of some place with like 200 bowling lanes, that stays open all night??:laugh3: If they're playing the Hollywood bowl, they aught to be wearing their best bowling shoes! :ears: (alright, I know it's corny, but I'm in a 50's state of mind..):P

Green Cars
Here's an interesting factoid: I was listening to WPR this morning, and according to the guest, it takes from 4 to 6 kwh of electricity to produce one gallon of automobile fuel (gasoline or diesel, I'm not sure which). If that electricity were put into charging batteries in an electric car, it would provide enough energy to move the car 25 miles. So, the production of electricity is directly tied to fuel production, and would better be put to use powering cars than powering refineries, pumps, etc. Best would be to revolutionize our rooftops and install large amounts of solar power arrays, getting the energy without the fossil fuels. :sunny:

Occupy Wall Street Movement
Maybe not just yet, but soon - I think as popular pressure builds, and popularity grows, every politician wants more than anything to be re-elected, and if the pressure to pass an amendment exceeds all other motivators, they will pass the amendment. Although, it does take a very well organized, well funded, effective organization to apply this pressure, so that's the one thing which must be done to fully mobilize citizen pressure, and I think Occupy Wall Street is starting to build that in coordination with many non-profits that work for the public good. The whole issue really cuts across ideological lines, clearly a government of, by, and for we, the people, which has been hijacked into a government of, by, and for the .1% cannot stand. I have faith in the movement, it's time for many changes to happen. Progress happens in waves, gradually momentum builds and long overdue corrections happen; seen from a day-to-day view, it's a back-and-forth motion, but from the long-view it's clear we make progress this way. Today was an interesting one for the Occupy Movement - the US Supreme Court was briefly occupied! and K street's occupation began; plus more news from sunny California: Occupy Wall Street | NYC Protest for World Revolution

A Godless Universe
I can't believe in a Dogless universe, it's just not possible. :sunny: I believe Dog does exist, I've seen Dog, and even heard Dog! All that matters is that Dog loves you. :huskyhug: Suffice it to say that were we to realize the truth, it might be too much for anyone to handle , for it is a very, very large elephant, and each of us can only comprehend one aspect of it at a time.:elephant: Musings on the matter: The Universe and God and Us are all one, a giant interacting set of strings and bubbles, all the forces and all the actions part of the most complex set of dynamic interacting dimensions, yet coordinated and interconnected, driven perhaps by an ever increasing process yet to be fully understood, perhaps related to increasing orders of systems, or the osmotic pressure of the universe towards complete and uniform randomness of all possible permutations; this mystery still remains unsolved, for not all of the equations add up yet.. And if we are to solve it, we must keep ourselves healthy both socially and individually, allotting time for dreaming as well as working. Sometimes though, the Universe is too much, and we aspire to more humble modes, preferring time in a decidedly peppery place, away from the blue expanse of this Universe. For the musical verse is often more pleasing to the ear than the verse of everything.

B-17s, fully loaded, on their way to target the power stations David. :P But seriously, I get your point; however, 10% is significant, and likely to grow unless we do something - because everyone is going auto crazy, adding 2X the number of autos globally with China and India's demand will necessitate changes, and there are other factors not talked about, such as where the remaining oil reserves are, and what it takes to turn it into useful petroleum goods. Take tar sands, for example - as I recall, on the order of half the energy one gets out of the products goes into getting the refined oils and fuels from the tar sands, and the effect on the earth is akin to mountain top removal for coal. No Dirty Energy - How Tar Sands Exacerbate Climate Change With the end of easy oil comes increased risks (deep water horizon type risks), massive disruptions to scrape huge areas for tar sand and shale, and big increases in energy use to get at what's left. And while power plants are big emitters, the energy waste through inefficiency in end uses is the big elephant in the room, while it is true that electricity and heat production account for roughly 41% of the carbon emissions globally, all sectors have an impact. Since the US is the biggest emitter of automotive greenhouse gases, some handy sites to check out: Global Warming - U.S. Autos Account for Half of Global Warming Linked to Cars Worldwide Global Warming on the Road - Environmental Defense pdf: About.com: http://www.environmentaldefense.org/documents/5301_Globalwarmingontheroad.pdf

Solve for me this riddle then: As CO2 levels rise, and the earth's climate reaches a tipping point, assuming we don't want to live on an extraordinarily overheated planet, and given the impact automobiles have on climate change, how do we reduce the CO2 output by autos?

Two days and a fortnight, Paul Revere would set off with the Raiders for the Continental Congress in Philly, grab a cheese-steak sandwich here and there, completing the ride of over 300 miles in just five days, with no mulligans. At the urging of the Massachusetts delegation, Sam Adams, John Adams, actually the who Adams Family, and Robert Treate Paine went trucking on over to the Congress, which was already a month in session, dining on cream cheese and crackers, adopted the Suffolk Resolves as their own. Jefferson would build on them for that document (pre word-perfect) adopted by the Second Continental Congress, The Declaration of Independence, a most radical document of revolutionary resolve to this day.

What does "Major Minus" MEAN?
Everything is hinged on keeping earth's ecosystems intact and thriving; so dependent are we on life, but how easily we take it for granted. However, we must overcome the alligators in the swamp; not the literal ones, but the proverbial ones. And we're making some progress!

What are you thinking right now?
What was I thinking? Oh, yeah, something about pianos and bringing desalinated water to the deserts with wind and solar power and how ridding the corruption via fair elections and fair campaigns and an amendment to get the big money out of politics goes a long ways to opening up the possibility of a better world for all.. Regaining control of our Democracies is essential to solving a myriad of problems, and the more the lives of the other 6 billion improve, the more we all share in the better world we help to create. From John Lennon's song Imagine I was thinking "Some say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. Some day, you will join us, and the world will live as one."

The "things I wish I could say" thread
Well, we're really just collections of cells organized as individual organisms, collectively a series of loose colonies of sorts, task oriented, but generally interconnected in a sense.. why would one then not have the neural networks organized and interconnected with longer-term planning, or with effect to others in the super-group? for what the left hand does, the right hand seems not to see.. or maybe does not want to see.. is it fear, or fear of leaving a secure sense of purpose, however simplified that view is? Or are we limited by seeing one perspective primarily, or driven culturally towards the most common denominator of shallow water, even though we could go deep? Or is it simply a fix, a quick rush of endorphins from a fast buck to be made that overrides any deeper sense of purpose or meaning? Better that we make the better angels of our nature prosper, for in doing so, we all prosper, and all of nature prospers.

strange, it's just a yellow metal, but our affinity for the sun must be so great that it captures our mood as well as our eyes. based on the current price for the metal, a typical microprocessor might be worth $4.40 or thereabouts, especially if it's older, just for the yellow metal it contains. If we valued it more, oddly enough in one aspect it could save huge quantities of electronics waste from the landfills, and usher in a completely professional recycling of consumer electronics, but the down side would be massive mining efforts, with all the risks and then some. 7% of the world's electricity went into producing it from the mines a decade or more ago, wonder what the figure is today..

Yes, well, I know how it goes. Remind them gently, and if that doesn't work, try a cattle prod! :laugh3: Otherwise, there are ear muffs, though concentration sometimes takes almost complete silence or white noises. Pink noises might be alright too.. :hat:
