  10. Howooo, I'm howling here in the den, and believe me, there ain't no "statist, economically-illiterate, naive, elitist children" here! What I see is this tendency to defer to an oversimplified economic belief that if we just went back to those early days, somehow things would be just grand; a fur for a stone implement, some native copper for a few dipper gourds. Ah, pure markets, the dreams of a utopian long-ago place, 10,000 BC or thereabouts. But that was a world of fewer people, simpler civilizations, and we're just not going back. Economically illiterate is quite a stretch, I might not have a PhD in economics, but I've seen enough of how the economy operates under the current regime to understand things are resting on shaky ground, and the whole system is skewered to create a debt pyramid and exorbitant usury fees stacked upon the workers of the world, all the while the investment class riding atop us all slices themselves a huge piece of the pie and exempts themselves from real regulation, responsibility, and reform. We need honest government that works for we, the people to straiten this mess out, and that takes fair election, a ridding of the buying of influence by an elite over almost all the politicians. Almost, I say, since among the very few elected officials that are honest, we have Bernie Sanders from Vermont for instance who has proposed an amendment to the US Constitution to end corporate personhood and allow for the regulation of money flowing unchecked into politician's campaign pockets. A modest start I agree, but there's a beginning. As for being elitist, wow, what a dream that would be! :laugh3: I king of the Bohemians, hereby declare that all my loyal subjects are entitled to at least one free Coldplay concert, including horderves and sparkling wine, and your choice of either baked potato, hash browns, cottage fries, or salad with thousand island or blue cheese dressing. :)

  14. With family, be there when you can, when it's really important. But there are services to help them out a bit, and you need to focus on a career to make things happen as well, so keep on keeping on in life. I'm glad you're concerned about their needs in life, but you've got to be strong to help them out as you can. Good to keep those services going strong too, since we rely on functioning well in our work and career environments to keep things going in the modern world, so keep supporting the support networks we have out there - those services are vital, as are decent pay and benefits for ordinary Americans. Vanilla is good, though I know what you mean - well, maybe start out with plain vanilla and then as you get your feel for it, branch off into other areas, there are more options, and you would then have experience to back you up. Just ideas, that or join a commune! ;)

  16. I believe government is the final arbiter of fair play, and we need to again make it so. And to do so it cannot serve the interests of a powerful minority who invert the rules to serve themselves at the expense of all others, and it cannot ignore the rights of individuals who work hard to produce something and deserve protection for the fruits of their labors. It must work for all citizens, and to do so elections must be made fair, the selection of office seekers and the available information on them fair. For only when those elected to office are beholden to the citizens writ large, will they serve the citizens and uphold the common moral principles we hold dear, and promote the best of human nature.
  17. Put aside the baggage in life, lift your spirits, get on board with the change that's happening all around. We are all spirit creatures, immutably linked with the strings and bubbles of the universe, together we can overcome any obstacle, climb every mountain. The collective spirit is where it's at; together we have fun, share the happiness, move about, make the world a place of wonder and joy for all. What moves us is this interconnected set of strings, the fibers of the universe, the bubbles of life itself; so if we reflect on what we are, lower our hard shields and accept the loving spirit of humanity, we can make this a beautiful world for all, and keep it alive and vibrant for millenia to come. The automobile is in essence the visible manifestation of what we stand for, so reflect those deep values you hold dear, push the envelope, let your spirit soar.
  18. To work from the perspective of understanding and connecting all to nature, to our nature, to inner nature. To create from that perspective which reflects and dovetails with nature, takes flight from the mind's eye, is expansive of all understanding linked to the mother earth which supports us, nurtures all life, is the interwoven web into which we must find greater harmony with. To make the new car, we must first care and value nature and mesh deep ethical values with ecological values, be deep blue and deep green with deep roots, be one with Gaia and make a healthy beehive of activity, full of healthy bees.

  20. A craft in the mind's eye is adorned with the plumage of a thousands eyes, shimmering and widening in the morning sun, seeking other eyes to follow it, to want it, to notice it, to vibrate with it, to become entranced and in tune with it. Choose the reflection which brings the greatest joy for all, for the joy that is given off is also the joy that is returned in kind; to the gentle soul is the reward of great harmony and friendship, that which is done for all is done for one, and what is done for one is done for another; from all raindrops comes a cascade of falling water. The vibrations of sound from the strings of the universe are set afloat on the winds, for the strings we pluck are as the feathers with the eyes, they shimmer in our mind's ears and eyes, and return a symphony of peace, love, and harmony, if we listen. listen. 22. shhhh! If word get's out, my dreams of a smuggling operation will just simply melt away!:P Besides, there would be a cream shortage then, and eggnog without cream would be rather.. healthy?! :laugh3: Ultimately, it comes down to ungulates. Maybe dairy llamas, alpacas, or Shetland cattle on those high-rise roofs... Alpine goats?
  23. Listening to The Sound of Music this morning, and all the fun visiting family and friends. Edelweiss, edelweiss, every morning you greet me, small and bright, clean and white, you look happy to meet me, blossoms of snow, may you bloom and grow, bloom and grow forever, Edelweiss, edelweiss, bless my homeland forever, small and white clean and bright, you look happy to meet me, blossom of snow, may you bloom and grow, bloom and grow forever
  24. >True, but then the good citizens of Norway will need cows where the consumers are. Town cows, or at least town goats. Then to feed those hungry animals, it takes a lot of grass! That solves the lawn cutting issues, but increases the livestock issues in larger cities. Apartment livestock, that would be interesting.. I suppose the service elevators could handle the loads, and one could bail the grass in summer, hay can ride up in the elevators just as well. Plenty of water in Norway, no problems there, so that checks off the list. Maybe if the roofs are structured well, the livestock can be sheltered there and milked in parlors atop green roofs.. I'm all for it!;) The trouble today is that to live in a modern world we are specialized, it's the tendency and for some things is essential, though perhaps we can have both, or a better blend of the two. Either that, or Norway installs a melted butter pipeline, and contributes to the strategic butter reserve during fat years, and then can withdraw butter as needed during lean years. We've loaded some supertankers with butter, the ports can handle the pumping and metering.
  25. Let us examine for a moment the other side of life. This is a test. For the next 60 seconds, we will be conducting a test of the emergency broadside service. This is only a test. Pursue a career in Art. Make fitness fun. Sell colored balloons to kids at amusement parks. Perfect the art of body painting. Go ice fishing. We've overloaded the planet with technocrats, geeks, geniuses, and the like - and look what it's done! Sure, they've got the answers, but most of the problems are created because we think too much and feel too little. Heart disease? because we've refined foods using science and eat fat because we're nervous from all those science exams!:P Then we take the panacea we're offered, served up as either soft serve or butter brickle, and the beverages sure to temporarily ward off the pressures of modern life. And then there's ..Stress! Not enough partying and biking on the trails, that's the problem. Smell the flowers, enjoy their beauty, laugh, forget the chemical names for all the scents they give off, or how their genetics works. All the vitamins and minerals are there in nature, in healthy foods grown in rich natural soils, all preventive of the cancers and other things ailing us. Science gave us phthalates leaching into foods, mountaintop removal, reactors that melt down, and foods lacking active vitamins but loaded with pesticides. Science gave us the machines of war, the spy cameras hidden in every towel dispenser, the antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria, medicines that don't break down in nature, and the hand sanitizers that sterilize everything, including the environment. Artists know to just enjoy things as they are, in their pure and natural state. To seek higher truths through reflection, contemplation, and creating portals for imagination. Income? Mass movements are where it's at, become a veggie-burger street vendor, serve them VB with spinach and sweet peppers on whole grain bread, the crowds will love you and you'll earn enough to buy a good used VW van, with a solar hot water system included. Paint some flowers on the side. The waste fryer oil makes great fuel, and the times spent rallying with fellow humans is priceless. You'll never regret a career in becoming fully human. ======================================================= This message brought to you by all those who have checked out of the merry go round. Peace. Occupy Everything until citizens are in control again. Then we regain control of the FDA to protect us, not the plutocracy.
