[2017-4-1] National Stadium, Singapore, SINGAPORE
Well here's hoping that they sort something out! Tried purchasing all three times but got booted out into the site's waiting room just as I was about to pay. Talk about frustration. Wholeheartedly agree that they should do a 2nd night if it's possible

Dumb question about Viva
It was explained by the band that it's an "either or" title. You can call it whatever you prefer, though it's been just called Viva La Vida most of the time.

First Impressions of Mylo Xyloto (and vote in the 1-10 sliding scale poll!)
After listening to the album a few times, I think it's really a very different (but great!) record. I do agree with some of the opinions, in which the first part of the record is a little disjointed. It feels like a mishmash of songs just tacked together with no flow. I'd like to give some constructive criticism though (It's just my opinion).. The first part of the album could've used some segues between the songs (like a transition, where the song fades/connects to each other) so that it would've been less jarring and more cohesive as if it were telling one whole story. The band did it for some of the songs (MX into HLH, MMIX into ETIAW, UIF all the way to UWTB) and, in my humble opinion, it worked brilliantly. In fact, the way the band integrated the tune from MX into UFO and AHT was a really great touch. The reason why I'm bringing this up is because the band are pitching it to be a concept album with a story to tell (that they made this record with the goal of getting people to listen to complete albums), and I personally feel that if the songs from the first half actually transitioned into each other it would have nailed that pitch perfectly and given a relatively different experience. As for POC, it's a great song but I'm still not sold and kind of puzzled.. Was Rihanna really necessary? It felt a bit out of place hearing a female voice suddenly pop out from nowhere. Despite that, I think I'm not going to let that ruin these songs for me. It's a stellar record, especially for the last few songs where they actually took time to develop the song instead of trying to make it as short as possible. (:

Will Mylo Xyloto leak? ** EFFECTIVE 16-10 LINKS NOT PERMITTED ** (PART I)
I'm sorry but I'm not buying it. An average of 30mb for each song? And it's not even lossless or FLAC; It's WAV.

LOL I wonder how long it'll be before new threads start coming up claiming they saw it on wikipedia. Hope no one take it too seriously though. :/

Someone should try editing wikipedia saying Coldplay's MX-era costumes have been confirmed as elephant suits

You do know that anyone can just edit and update information on Wikipedia right? I wouldn't take it as gospel at the moment until a more reliable source announces it.

Have they lost their minds?
ROFL oh god, I remember him! Anyway I really like what Mark's posted, and I really share the frustration. I believe many (not all) of us do; Most of them are those who've seen Coldplay evolve from their roots til today. Some people are kind of misunderstanding what all the frustration is all about though. It's not that we hate Coldplay. It's the opposite, in fact. It's not that we don't want Coldplay to evolve. It's just that this... isn't evolving. Especially when you know how much potential Coldplay has. I get the feeling that many years from now, maybe a decade or so, when we hear everything in retrospective, we'll be cringing at songs like these.

SERIOUS OPINIONS
As I mentioned earlier, I think they're at a stage where it's really become popularity over quality, instead of quality over popularity.. Writing a song for the sake of wanting it to be a big hit, concentrating so hard to "re-make" a Viva La Vida 2.0 with all the singalong gimmicks. Not that Paradise is a bad song, it's a good pop song but Coldplay can really do better. And anyway I didn't know that wanting to get better = being more commercialised. And I agree, I think the band have really started to drift away from what made them originally Coldplay and so unique. Which is sad because it was really, really amazing and what attracted millions of people to listen to them in the first place. Don't get me started with the news about Princess of China (Feat. Rihanna). I really have no idea what to say about that. This whole MX-era feels really off for some reason, and not in a good way. I'm not sure if it's the way everything is being handled (in terms of promotion and marketing) but yeah, it gives me the vibe that the band (or their management) are kind of confused about what they're trying to do. Lastly, I agree that bands should continue to evolve over time to remain fresh and exciting. But if you look at what we're presented with now (so far, at least) and look at what Coldplay was able (and is still capable) to achieve, there's no way you can say that this is progress. It's still evident that they're working hard though, and while I think that experimentation to make new sounds and all are fab, they've really got to be utilised properly to build on Coldplay's strengths, not deprove it.

Natalia Imruglia's "Fun" = Paradise Violin's!
I KNEW IT! I knew there was a part of the song which sounded so familiar! Hahaha

SERIOUS OPINIONS
I agree that Paradise is an okay, radio-friendly pop song. But you're also right. Coldplay is capable of SO MUCH better than this. Anyone who's heard their back catalog would honestly know that this (Paradise), while alright, is really nothing in comparison to what they've achieved before (Yes, even the X&Y era). With all the experimentation they've been doing, there's really so much potential to get even better. It's like they're now applying their "successful formula of Viva La Vida" and trying to make a song purposely for crowds to singalong with all the "ooh~" and stuff. Paradise and ETIAW strike me that they were written with the intention of making a big singalong or big hit. Even Charlie Brown. Not with the intention of making something meaningful, or letting a song develop naturally and somehow become everyone's favorite. Just trying to make a song popular for the sake of making it popular.

Third song starting with "U" "Under Roof" ?
I think it's "Under 1 Roof", not "under roof"

Why am I not liking this?
I could be alone on this but.. It's not so much the change that's bothering me. To be honest, I think a lot of the disappointment comes from the way all these songs were promoted/marketed. Don't get me wrong, I like the new songs but it just feels like something (promotion-wise) is missing. :/ And I get the band are trying to be secretive about LP5, but maybe keeping such a tight lid on things may not be a good thing especially when they decide to release a song (ETIAW) and we have absolutely no idea what they're trying to achieve. And it kind of gives me the impression that band themselves aren't exactly sure what they're trying to achieve either. Although regarding the change, I'm finding the new jackets and all getting to be a bit gimmicky now.. It was a fresh new idea during the Viva era, but now it just feels rehashed? And we have almost no idea why they're dressed that way either.

Has anyone else heard their new album? It's pretty rad and a solid effort for a debut!- Small Reminders/Updates & The Coldplay Messenger (feat. Roadie #42!)
Roadie #42 - Blog #109 November 17, 2009 12:14 pm #42 is back, Back, BACK! And he's in the sudio... I keep wanting to say "Happy New Year" every time I see people. I can't speak for others, but six weeks off tour in the warmth of home, loved ones and general all round "real life" has felt like the holiday season. It hasn't helped that I saw my first "Christmas Shopping" adverts in mid-October this year. Nobody else seems to be as chronologically confused as me, but everyone looks positively re-born. The thousand-yard-stares from a year and a half of touring have been replaced by grins, wisecracks and a crackling energy at being back together. There's TV to do today - never anyone's favourite way of spending time - but it's in the name of getting the Latin American shows next year off to a flying start, so they're down to business. They're also back in their uniforms again for the cameras, which is quite remarkable for how it transforms things. Instantly, it feels like we're back at work and they're a band again. I actually slept last night underneath the uniforms. I'm in the middle of re-locating to London and ended up spending the night on an air-bed under the clothes rails in the corner. I'm happy to report that despite press reports suggesting the contrary, they don't smell one bit like they've done a hundred and thirty odd shows. (Some odder than others, it must be said). I'm hoping to move into my office at the new studio in the coming week. We had an email round some time ago from Moonie in management, to tell us that the new place had been christened. It is to be called "The Beehive". Will asks Phil Harvey whether he can take a look inside on his way home as he hasn't seen inside yet. Phil asks if he knows where it is. "I know which street it's on, but not which one it is" "It's....." Phil pauses to find the right words. "It's the skanky looking one". I'd go along with that. We venture up to there in the afternoon after the band have dispensed with their TV duties. Right now, it's a building site. It's covered in brick dust and it's echoing with power tools and hard graft. Soon, it will be ringing with the chaos of new ideas evolving. Even though it's in a mess right now, the one thing that you can't help noticing as you wander amongst the rubble is how much light there is everywhere. Studios can very often feel like underground bunkers. Soundproofing is somewhat all or nothing and windows can often get trampled in the rush to keep the neighbours happy. Not so here at the Beehive, though. Everywhere you go there's light streaming in. Even on a relatively gloomy British afternoon, it's noticeably bright inside. I can only imagine that this will be reflected in the new material. Talking of new material, the studio whiteboards are positively exploding with plans, schemes and fragments of fresh ideas. It's like the tour was an 18 month session of shaking up the fizzy drink bottle of the band's imagination - and now they're back in the studio, the lid has been unscrewed. It is, quite literally, all over the walls.... R#42- Brian Eno talks to Pitchfork about Coldplay
I'm sorry but in what way is Eno putting them down or not showing them any respect? "But when I met Coldplay and got to know them, I so much liked those people and I so think that they really want to do something. Again, it's like U2 were. They are hungry to do something else. And they will. I'm sure they'll turn out to be a great band." I don't see how he's being negative about the band? He certainly isn't dissing them, at all. He's saying that they have a lot of potential because they are willing to learn and try out new things.- Peter Chilvers: Musician and studio engineer talks about Chris Martin, Natalie Imbruglia, and the "M
