  1. Haha, as a non-musician, I'm dying in anticipation to hear what Postcards from Far Away sounds like.. I'm sure i'm not the only one. =) Is there any possibility that someone could play it out and record it? If you're not sure what I'm talking about, Coldplay just updated their site with a widget section (There's already a thread for that) and one of the wallpapers there has the notes for Postcards From Far Away..
  2. is it me or does Guy bear some similarities to chris in that picture?... the hair maybe?
  3. From NME.com: Coldplay: 'there's no way 'Viva La Vida' copied Brooklyn band' Coldplay Band weren't even in US when alleged plagiarism occurred Coldplay have declared that there is no way that they could have stolen the melody for one of their new songs from an unknown New York band. Creaky Boards claimed Coldplay's 'Viva La Vida' sounded very similar to their own track, 'The Songs I Didn't Write' in an online video. They also added that the British band's frontman Chris Martin had attended one of their gigs and had "enjoyed" their set. However, a spokesperson for Coldplay has told NME.COM there is no chance the melody was copied, even inadvertently. Firstly, 'Viva La Vida' was written and demoed in March 2007, seven months before Creaky Boards claim Martin was at their gig. Secondly, having checked back in the Coldplay frontman's diary, it turns out he was in AIR Studios in London when the October 2007 gig took place, so they believe it was a case of mistaken identity. Meanwhile, the band are set to play a free gig at Brixton Academy tonight (June 16) - see NME.COM for a live report later today.

  9. Here's what I got from a translator: Jonny Buckland assured that the new record did not use the 'tricks' before Begoña Arce Special London .- Music on matters dark colors. That is how Jonny Buckland, Coldplay guitarist, defines his new album, Viva Life or Death and All His Friends, which launched on June 16 worldwide. It explains, this is the very idea of death, as in the work of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, who inspired the title of the album. "Thinking that we must die, decides that what we must do is live. When we had the title, we knew we wanted more color in our music, something more visual. We wanted to express dark themes, but with much color, as Frida. She never painted in shades of gray, because they are depressing. Always clinging to life, "says Auckland in exclusive interview with People! in London. He added that the fourth album from the British banda, led by Chris Martin, is the most experimental of those who have done so far, partly thanks to the production of Brian Eno (Depeche Mode, U2), because in the 10 themes The disc mixes flamenco ( "Cemeteries of London"), African brushstrokes ( "Yes") and even body of sacred music ( "Lost!"). "It was very fun and interesting mix all kinds of influences with Brian. There were no borders whatsoever in what they hear. Now with the Internet, you can have instant access to everything, and it would be crazy not to be influenced by many things. But it was difficult to decide what to put songs on the disk, because we did not want to repeat, especially emotionally, "says the musician. "This is the record that makes me more nervous, because we have stopped using all the tricks before. We wanted to try different ways of making music and we have been liberated. " And while earlier members of Coldplay assured that their first three discs were a kind of trilogy, Buckland was hesitant at the idea that Viva Life ... is the beginning of a new era for the banda. "I suppose yes, but I'm not quite sure what kind of new era. We realized that when you finish recording. We had explored a path, and it was time to try other things. " To promote the album, the group threw hand of technological resources, giving the first single, "Violet Hill," through its website this week before putting it up for sale, along the theme "Viva la Vida", iTunes. But give the full record, as did Radiohead, appears to be another story. "The option of Radiohead, which everyone pays what it creates for the CD, perhaps we could consider it, but the record company will not say that (laughs). The idea strikes me as well. I think we are very interesting changes taking place in the music world, "believes. What is your position on the fact that people download music from the Internet without paying? It is something to what we can not do anything. I do not even have a copy of our record, so I can not lose. But there are many people who still tasting discs. It is true that with the Internet easier than ever hear, but I still like the album with concerts, and the great albums always will remain. Why the idea of offering free concerts in London (June 16), Barcelona (17) and New York (23) giving away tickets on its official website? For the same reason that we freely on the Internet "Violet Hill." We wanted to do something beyond the ordinary. As simple as that. We wanted to give it back. What are expectations of the new world tour, which will boot on June 29 in Philadelphia? A tour can be difficult, but it is also very funny. Our tour in South America the truly enjoy, as when we were in Mexico. Take five months in the recording studio, and the trip was for us as a holiday. We love to act in Mexico. Do expect to return to Country with the new tour? We are eager to return. Nothing is closed, and I can not compromise, but I think that again in less than a year. This was said When we met with Mexican farmers (2003) was an incredible experience. It was the first time that I could see the effect of an unfair market. Do not remain in contact with them, but we have participated in this campaign with Oxfam. " Jonny Buckland Did you know ..? -- The group released a video this week alternate 'Violet Hill', which are images of George W. Bush, Tony Blair, Clinton, Barack Obama, Fidel Castro and even Queen Elizabeth II dancing song. -- Today plays at the MTV Movie Awards. -- June 27 will play in the 'Today Show' at the Rockefeller Plaza in New York. -- Start European tour on September 1 in Strasbourg, France. -- The theme 'Viva Life' is first sales of Top Ten iTunes. -- 'Violet Hill' was downloaded by more than 2 million people during the week that was available for free on the net.

  18. I believe it's on some of the violet hill singles as well, as a b-side. =) which is released today. =) but I agree, it may be some time til we know whether it's real.
  19. Hey Chavi =) Yup, alright. Just posted it in a new thread. Hopefully someone will upload the rest of the pictures from the new magazine once it's out! =D More Chris pictures to look out for =D
  20. Posted this earlier on the gorgeous Chris thread :) Here it is,check it out! So.. looks like they've changed from their all-black jacket theme to something more funky? haha. Have to admit, Guy looks rather awesome with short hair. And do I see colours wrapped around their sleeve-area? Possibly something viva-related like what chris did with X&Y (The coloured tape around his fingers) From what I understand, there's more pictures to come in the new issue of NME today, so I think it'd be great if someone shared them too! =D
  21. Lol, I'm not sure if i'm posting this in the right place so feel free to direct it to the right thread if I made a mistake =P Found this picture of the band on NME's website. They really are wearing some funky clothes aren't they! haha Wondering what's up with the colours around their hands... I have a feeling it may be something viva-related! =) Chris looks good, as usual!
  22. EDIT: oops. Double post. Sorry. =(
  23. I think we should keep our eyes peeled over the next few days. I remember the song being listed as a bonus track on the Japan album release.. so it's definitely existant. It's been spotted on the other violet hill singles too so.. heh. Hopefully someone is able to get their hands on a copy of the single. Violet Hill is officially released today. =)
  24. Never judge a book by its cover.. well, in this case, never judge an album by its title! =D I think that doing so would be one of the greatest mistakes a person could ever do. Makes me a bit sick to see how some people are so quick to arrive at their own judgements on things that they are not even sure of. Oh well. I don't think he's heard the album yet, i mean the writer doesn't mention anything about the songs at all! not even Violet Hill! He's just basing his article on criticising the album title.
  25. cephaus replied to nmsv's topic in Violet Hill
Okay.. about the 'fog/god' line.. I thought I heard 'fraud'.. so it was like this: 'when the fraud/became god'. Makes much more sense. regarding the soldier bit, I'm very confident that it's 'I don't want to be a soldier/ Who the captain of some sinking ship would stow/far below' because it was ina news article... just my 2 cents though
