  1. Tomorrow's match will demand a new spelling of epic. Never been this excited about a soccer match, which means a lot. I've been rearranging the US starting lineup on post-its at work and watching corny ussoccer.com segments about Hahnemann flying toy planes and Dempsey coming up empty on fishing trips.
  2. Yeah, absolutely no faith in France making the 2nd round, I'm even reconsidering my prediction of them beating South Africa.
  3. sorry, no doubt you're gonna take a point from it anyway. This shouldn't be a free kick.
  4. translation: Red Card. FUCK!!
  5. man, I finally get to a working computer. Exciting draw for SA, amazing shot too. I didn't know but they said the host nation has never lost an opening match. I didn't get a good look at the reversed mexico goal but the commentator was livid so I figured they were robbed at the time, but considered it fair when SA was denied a PK later on. The current match has been disappointing so far. Right off the back, players lack confidence in their abilities and start diving and embellishing all over the place. France is lackluster as ever while Uruguay's a bit desperate to get lucky with a longball. I definitely overanticipated the amount of goals to see. I heard France hasn't scored a goal in game 1 for the last several world cup's.
  6. lol, didn't notice at first.

  8. As bad as france has played lately, their roster is so stacked that as soon as they tape a couple loose parts together they could potentially dominate. Its pretty amazing that a team with those players can run off and do something like losing to china, but they've been so consistently poor that I don't have any faith in them against uruguay.
  9. I think the person who posted the magnificent video might've screwed it up, as it speeds up at random intervals.
  10. South Africa 0 - 3 Mexico Uruguay 2 - 1 France
  11. really not sure what to think of the u2 live/african choir mixes they keep playing during world cup preview shows on espn. so far only the adjectives bizarre and random have come to mind. 12. they had a great bit on espn comparing maradona and messi all the way down to their identical handballs. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrifqshUtPk&feature=related]YouTube- messi hand ball[/ame]
  13. fired up or not, I just can't see mexico losing that game.
  14. I'm too lazy to find that comment, but while you're absolutely right, they probably meant that its one of the most competitive groups, in that, the two advancing teams are anything but obvious. Because South Africa is in this group, there's no obvious frontrunner, and the mean of the other three teams is considerably higher than most groups where the teams are more widely spaced. I'm sure France much rather have the US's spot in group C, where England is a shoo-in, but the other teams aren't much of a threat. And vice-versa. You'd be more comfortable with one much better opponent than two equal opponents in a group.
  15. Sounds good, how old is your sister?
  16. huh, that's odd. I'm sure with the above sim that experts decided the most likely turn of events and recorded plays accordingly instead of letting the actual video game decide.
  17. I believe an examination of the word "rarely" would be the key focal point of my response.
  18. this seems eerily likely (ignoring the part where Heskey scores a goal): [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-G8fCvqF2VA]YouTube- EA Match Sim: England vs USA[/ame]
  19. Hawks have been dominating play for the past ten minutes. Like one big endless powerplay.
  20. but he can't live with us either. A textbook example of the Bono paradox.
  21. anyone notice how bufflin never looks happy? He just scored and it's as if his dad just died.
