  1. On Jonny buckland's fansite. http://whataboutjonbuckland.tk/ It has a list and pictures of him and his guitars/effects etc. And you're right he also has a jaguar which he used to use for shiver and yellow. now I think he only ever uses it for the outro to the scientist(glastonbury).
  2. That would be sparks, we never change, murder and how you see the world.
  3. I've probably seen every decent coldplay video on you-tube. the best quality has to be the live 2003 vids...which gives you everything except everything's not lost(but there's audio of that on you-tube too) and one I love(but there's a video of that song from germany that's about as good). all the glastonbury's are brilliant too.
  4. lol. I took lessons when I was little but I'm technically self-taught and oblivious to this terminology. what type of songs would qualify as grade 4? or 5 or what not?
  5. ROTFL that is really hilarious.
  6. (actually that was pour me)
  7. Yeah, growing up and wishing you could stay in the "fun" teen or preteen years is similar to waking up early in the morning for work and wanting to go back to sleep. It is disconcerting sometimes, for example I recently turned 17 and the days of five years ago are still fresh in my mind. back then, very little is expected of you and so you are allowed the joy of impressing your parents with your various skills and talents. But now, looking at pictures of myself from my sisters wedding I see almost a full-grown man and I'm viewing myself a lot differently. I'm still so accustomed to the imagination and discovery of yesterday, and I still feel like a child when it comes to learning new and interesting things, but it's different when you take that mindset and place it in the head of this full-grown "man" that just so happens to be you. These years are priceless. I'm going off to college in a couple months and sometimes I'm almost hit by a mid-teen crisis...evaluating your numerous experiences as a teen and wondering if you will have any regrets after you get sucked into this window-less train of maturity. In recent months my growing age has definitely crossed my mind as feel like I'm just starting the anxious twilight that is the end of my days a child.
  8. okay, so would that also be in reference to dynamics? and the different sounds you get when you strike the key with different levels of force?
  9. very possible, after all, they've always has a "title-track" in their albums.
  10. proof. "...so blind I couldn't see..."
  11. I don't think a parachutes tab book was ever produced like the a rush of blood to the head, live 2003, X&Y and singles and b-sides books.
  12. Well here's the deal. Many people would consider coldplay's use of the computer love riff a "rip-off", I disagree. The term rip-off implies that they are maliciously stealing from kraftwerk without their consent. But instead of just taking the riff (with the hope of dancing around any copyright charges) Chris wrote a polite and humble letter to kraftwerk saying "hello, my name is Chris I play in a band named "Coldplay" and we were wondering..." yadda yadda yadda. Kraftwerk gave them permission and they went on to make a pretty good song with it. The way they went about it leans much closer to "homage" then "theft". they asked nicely and they were allowed to borrow it.
  13. LOL. I just saw the post about matthew bellamy. It's almost as if somebody started a gag sight where they supply long argumemtative rants (giving no clue about the person being ranted about) where you insert name here, copy, and paste on sites to try to make the residents really really angry...
  14. Umm...okay you could pretty much replace "martin" with any name" because not once did I see any mention of music or coldplay or anything else that would give the foggiest impression that it is the lead singer of coldplay (Chris Martin) that this person is talking about. I would have a million angry negative adjectives to describe the post if I was sure that they were talking about out "Chris Martin". But considering that this is that persons only post and that no clue about coldplay or even music was given in that lengthy enraged ramble I can only assume that he's talking about some politician with the same name who he's been bashing on random message boards across the internet and that when he came to this site, he somehow didn't even notice that this was a coldplay fansite. If this is actually some amusing coincidence, I'm all the more curious about the Chris Martin he's talking about, as not one shred of evidence, quotation or information backing his barrage of claims about this seemingly evil "Chris Martin" appear in his wild rant...whatever.
  15. Someone asked about "a message"? Well (shing)... http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/c/coldplay/a_message_ver3_tab.htm is the best tab I've seen online. I know there are a ton of wrong tabs out there...but I've been using this one because it just about matches (shing)... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uy3ijEzYNAs ...Chris's part in this coldplay acoustic session.
  16. This is living proof of how I cannot play by ear...starting in the second verse of "easy to please" a piano enters playing a simple but affective sequence(which I think makes the song) over and over. Has anybody figured that out? I've been toying around and as simple as seems I can't connect the dots. I have the singles and b-sides book, but that only gives the chords. It's only like 7 notes and I'm sure a couple of them are repeated...anyway I was wondering if anybody has figured it out. thanks.
  17. One of the reasons I love coldplay so much is it feels as if almost everyone of their songs could be a single...unlike some bands which have one or two awesome songles while the rest are weak and generic. I thought I'd plead for the case of "easy to please" for a moment before giving my list. The thing about "easy to please" is, yes, the lyrics stay the same, it's very slow and even indulgent...but I think it's an acquired appreciation as the more I listen to it, the denser I realize the song is. It wasn't until I payed full attention to my mp3 player that I realized the news channel(or whatever it is) that comes on at the end. That, and the reoccurring conversation from the beginning (that you can never quite make out the words to) I find very creative and original. They basically took a stripped down simple, boring acoustic song and pimped it out with all of these crazy yet subtle effects that make it an object of study even. Of course, you already know that and still dislike it. fair enough. I also find it difficult to listen to more than once in awhile. My list: 5. Murder (For the only b-side on GPASUYF they could've done better, nice(short) solo and all but it doesn't have a lot of appeal generally.) 4.A Whisper (Same reason they never played it live, it's just weak sauce. It served it's purpose which was a sudden, powerful transition from the softness of green eyes and warning sign. the chorus ain't bad, but the bass line gives you a headache after a while.) 3.Ode to deodorant. (Basically an excuse to try to think up one less song. It's bad, coldplay know's that, after all it was somewhat of a joke.) 2. 1.36 ( An effort at a new flavor that just came out dry. The ash guitarist is interesting but doesn't change anything.) 1.Proof (To me, it's a bad fix you with out the crescendo. The falsetto is abused, and the lyrics are terrible. The guitar at the end helps...but not enough. honourable mentions: Fix you (My brother hates this song and with all respect I can see why, lyrics could be better and Chris's voice can get annoying it's risky and very poppy. I think the guitar at the end brings it back to even...he disagrees. yellow: I like this song, but I understand how many say it's over-rated. It's a nice optimistic peak to the album but I wouldn't've picked it as a one hit wonder had I not heard it before hearing the album. in my place: The oddball of it's album. Poppy, repetitive doesn't really fit in with the rest...coldplay praises it highly for how it "kept them going through all the weird stuff..." but it is what it is.
  18. I'd like to know the color of the car...but I vote for the globe.
  19. I think nowadays he gets a litltle carried away with the falsetto. The high notes in square one are beautiful (when he's not dancing or rolling around on the ground), and he has a higher range than the vast majority of vocalists but throws it around too much. The chorus of White shadows, for instance, I think sounds a whole lot better in the album version where he talks in a medium-low tone. His voice in talk can also shoot up unnecessarily...I know I'm being super-picky, but those are some of my observations.
  20. Well if you click on "white shadows" on the discography, it'll say that it was anticipated to be the fourth single (better than "what if" or "the hardest part" in my opinion) but wasn't. The cover is fan-made.
  21. You mean play 32 notes at the exact same time? I don't see why you would need to.
  22. Yeah, improv seems to think it's a piece of crap, but it looks and seems like the same thing. Also, I feel pretty stupid asking this but...could some one inform me what 32-64 note polyphony means?
  23. Technically Coldplay has only made 3 albums (fourth one in mixing stage). They are Parachutes(2000), A Rush of Blood to the Head(2002), X&Y(2005). I've never heard of "without parachutes" but "castles" is a fan-made compilation of b-sides(songs accompanying singles on...well...singles) and "brothers & sisters" is/was coldplay's very first single. Try looking into the discography on the website for more info.
