  1. Ok, that photo came out oversized and I can't correct it.:embarrassed:
  2. Ooh! I just thought of another cool option for you. What about a Tele JD. They're out of production, but they're are tons on the secondary market. They're probably one of the cheapest real Teles you can by, and they were made in Japan (which are where a lot of the best fenders came from.) Plus you'd still have the cache of playing the same thing as JB.:) They have a following that says they're the best tele ever made.
  3. To be fair, some people do claim to go and then still be dissappointed, but I suspect a lot of them make up their minds to be disappointed no matter what.
  4. Even if they do only play the confirmed dates this year (which I agree seems the most likely scenario at this point), I'm not sure I'd consider the tour "winding down" with so many dates left to play.
  5. Are there venues there big enough to accommodate an A-list tour? That's the key stumbling block in most smaller markets.
  6. Their attendance in North America during Viva was off sharply from the rest of the world. (some of the 2009 shows dipped below 10,000). I recall reading a couple articles speculating that their 2009 North American shows were performing well below expectations. I do think they could play stadiums in most of the major NA markets though. They've already played (and sold out) stadium shows in Toronto and Los Angeles and played a few larger amphitheaters (like Alpine Valley) that accommodate crowds almost comparable to stadiums.
  7. Happy I could help. I know how frustrating it can be when you have gear questions.
  8. It's still 21 total songs, which is very much in line with the other shows.
  9. I wouldn't say it's wrong to be disappointed, but IMHO it is a bit unrealistic. Every Coldplay song is someone's favorite, and even if they played a mammoth 3+ hour set, they'd still leave someone's favorite(s) out. There's simply no way any band can play all the songs every single person in the audience wants.
  10. She replaced her old Twitter with the Matrushka one around the time her business really got on wheels, and now mostly posts about Matrushka related stuff.
  11. IDK, I think what we are talking about on the Guy thread is Guy related.:) Seriously though, if you're considering a Tele Deluxe and are not a fan of heavy guitars, I'd say it's imperative that you actually try out the one you're going to buy, because the weight is fairly variable and some are extremely heavy. I've heard nothing but good things about the vintage reissue thinlines (I think Jonny's red one is actually a prototype of those.)

Without saying I agree or disagree with that statement, do we really have to go there?

I didn't mean to offend you, honestly. I only meant that it's somewhat in question if the band ever intended to do a show there or not. I truly hope you do get a show eventually.:)

The show is Israel was never confirmed FWIW.
  15. I'm afraid I don't have examples. All I know is that back when I used to work concerts, those numbers were regarded as something of a joke by people who would've been in a position to know. I believe the bone of contention has to do with things like them using stated venue capacity vs. specific show capacity, not properly figuring in comps, and things like that.
  16. She still is, she posts a lot of pictures of Nico, and of her and Guy together occasionally (apparantly she still goes on tour with him sometimes.) Guy's house is also one of the showcase properties for Matrushka, you can see it on their website, it's the Belsize Park one.
  17. Personally, I'd say a thinline would be pretty suited to rhythm playing. The widerange pickups (which are shared among the thinline, deluxe and custom teles) have a deep warm sound, and a lot of rhythm players do like semi-hollows. Tele Deluxes and Customs also tend to be quite heavy (some approaching Les Paul weight) if that means anything to you. If you get a thinline, you can also go for one of the new vintage reissues where the pickups are re-wound to better match the 70's ones. Really though, a Tele custom might be your best bet as you'd have the versatility of having a single coil in the bridge. -ok I've been OT long enough now:embarrassed:-
  18. Will has said as much too. Will's the one with the most anonymity probably, there's less information about him out there than any of the others, though there are rumors he's actually living somewhere in Surrey (instead of London proper) these days. I really don't pay to much attention to personal details though unless they land right in front of me by accident.
  19. They have the Wide Range humbuckers, but they're solid bodied and have a strat style neck instead of a tele one. They're very popular among rhythm guitarists.
  20. I have a pretty good idea where Jonny lives based on what people have said, and it scares the hell out of me what an idiot could do with that knowledge given that it's so readily accessible. The exact addresses of Guy's old house (and the street location and exterior photos of his ex-wife's house) are all over the web, which scares me even more.
  21. It's not cool at all in my book, but it's out there these days, for better or worse.
  22. That was right around the peak of their commercial popularity though, so I can see how it'd be intense for them, especially after having spent much of their first decade as a band at a much more modest level of success. I honestly think I wouldn't want that regardless of how cool the other rock star stuff was. If anything, I'd want to be like one of the 3 non Chris members of Coldplay, famous (and rich), but really only in the context of the band.
  23. Chris' Teles are different, he favors the Tele Deluxes. He's been playing them on and off since the AROBTTH days. For this tour it's GPASUYF (and maybe DLIBYH)
  24. Yeah, it's kind of sad that even bands that want to be low key and not shut themselves off from the world really don't have that luxury a lot of the time, and yet if they gate off their houses and offices, and take steps to protect themselves, they get slammed for being elitists-you just can't win sometimes.:\ I'm sure Michael Stipe has more issues than most though as he's both a celebrity and has become something of an important figure in LGBT related issues, which attracts a whole other breed of people who would want to harm/harass him.
  25. He definitely looks like a proper lead guitarist these days.
