  1. Based on their previous touring pattern, I'd say fairly low. They did the UK arena tour (short though it was) and considering the planned stadium tour is massive even for a band of coldplay's size, I doubt they'd do another round of UK gigs this tour.
  2. For the record, I never called JB a player, I was quoting a really old article about the band wherein he was refered to as such.:P EDIT: here is the quotation: "Jonny was one for the ladies in those days, and I remember he had two girlfriends on the go in Iceland at the same time"
  3. It's been released to radio in the U.S. in the Triple A and Alternative Radio formats only. It's doing fairly well on Triple A, which is not really surprising as this has always been Coldplay's strongest U.S. format.
  4. It's not from a performance of I'm a believer, as there's no keyboard. I think Australia is a good bet, as there were a lot of especially good (clear, close) tour photos published from that leg of the tour. If you have enough time on your hands, you may be able to locaste the correct date by scanning through the live section of the gallery.
  5. Guy (and to keep the thread slightly on topic WILL) both had steadies from the earliest days of the band. Guy's the player now though, what with his 19 year old model and all.
  6. If all the rumors and gossip that have been bandied about over the years are true, it was Jonny who was the player of the band in the early days.:wink3:
  7. Where they are is damn good for 18 weeks out. Albums sell long after they're at the top of the charts. AROBTTH has sold almost 1 million copies in the U.S. alone in the last couple years and that's well after it's had any commercial impact. MX is at the part of it's lifespan where it should be starting to slide off the charts, but as long as the band tour it, it should keep doing alright.
  8. I think Chloe was there with Jonny also, but they were kind of hard to see on the recording. Curiously, Guy seemed to leave his new girlfriend hanging, she just kind of stands the bewildered.
  9. Not paying for tickets on the secondary market is the best thing anyone can do. These scams exist (as does all touting) because there is a big market for touted tickets. As the documentary said, there are even some people who view these sights as a way to get prime tickets with less hassle. As long as the market is so large, there will always be people willing to cater to it.
  10. Having a law and enforcing it are two different things. After all, these scams are, in essence, work arounds for the anti-touting laws already in place in most countries.
  11. The Bowl is about 16000 capacity, which is comprable to most arena venues, and they are playing it 3 nights. Anyway, it tends to draw a lot of artists who could sell out bigger venues for some reason. I am a bit confused why Coldplay seems to have some sort of aversion to the Staples Center (probably the best metro LA indoor venue for them) Also, they toured with Fiona Apple during Twisted Logic, who in my mind is of a comprable stature to Robyn. Coldplay are big enough now where their tour is massive enough to have "name" artists as openers.
  12. If I'm not mistaken, the Pierces also opened up for them on a few dates last year. It seems like they're the "safety" support act, called on to fill small gaps in the schedule. Can't decide if I like them or not, they have a weird flower power vibe going on. 40 years ago, they probably would've been massive, but IMHO they sound a bit stuck in time.
  13. Except that all but the biggest bands don't have the cache to flout promotors (and with the amount of promotion needed for major tours these days, even then it's questionable.) LiveNation controls, either through ownership or management, around half of all U.S. Concert venues, more in major markets and with larger sized venues. They're not going to let bands undercut their percentage of the resale market.
  14. Numerous bands have tried, usually without much success, to work around these types of scams. Even the biggest bands need the assistance of a promotor to tour effectively, amd with the promotion side of the touring bussiness becoming ever more consolidated into a few mega entities (LiveNation etc.), everyone's more or less at their mercy.
  15. This is news? I don't know anything about how ticket sales go in the U.K. or elsewhere, but here in the U.S., it's been common knowledge that large companies like LiveNation and Ticketmaster have been doing this for years. The key phrase is "legal touts" meaning that they're perfectly legal and not technically touts under the law. Sucks, but the issue is too big and complex to be resovled anytime soon. :\
  16. Two things: A. It's a non promoted radio only single only released in one format and B. At this point in the album campaign, it would be highly unusual for any new single to break out. MX as an album has already made it's slpash, all that's really left to this cycle is to tour.
  17. I know. Nothing wrong with it, just makes me look a bit more like a middle aged accountant than I'd like to envision myself.:(
  18. What's looped during The Scientist? There's no strings in that, are there?
  19. Wow, I must not have seen pictures of Marr lately, didn't know he was hairless. Makes me feel less self concious about my thinning hair.
  20. Just JB and the Edge by my reckoning.
  21. Before the Grammys there was a photo of the seating plan, and she was right next to the seats marked out for the band, so she was definately there. I think Chris is a bit more relaxed about the whole thing these days, he seems much more willing to mention her in interviews and stuff anyway. Perhaps she wasn't at the brits because she was working on a project somewhere else or something.
  22. It kind of is about those things man. Since the crux of your arguement is that Chris is now a worse writer because he's too rich and/or famous, surely you can see where people corrolate those things with "selling out", even if you didn't intend it in that manner. Likewise, for something to be worse compared to previous work by the same person, it would somehow have to be substantively different, either in directon or style.
  23. They're there because they were hits. Full Stop. I understand a lot of people here consider them weaker tracks compared to less well known songs, but they're key tracks in the band's catalog and will mostly likely be played at every gig the band do until the end of time, for better or worse.
  24. Is it just me, or did his wife look exceptionally tiny on the Brits clip. She doesn't seem to be that short in photos of her.
