  1. I like all of them the same really. To me they have different sounds for as weird as that sounds. But I do like X&Y a lot suppose if i had to choose one that would be it dont understand why it gets slated so, it has some top songs on it, yes its a bit more popish but still a rock album so is good enough for me.
  2. Maybe The Scientist. If you think about it that has pretty good lyrics for the occasion, with the lines " Nobody said it was easy, its such a shame for us to part" all the people you wont see again when you leave. And maybe some people will miss school [ if they do goodness knows why] so going back to the start to relive the memories etc. Anyway could work as a sort of uplifting leaving song. Plus if its just you and a piano player it wont sound odd or wrong as The Scientist is a piano led song.
  3. Listen at 2:35 Chris says its phil
  4. Saw this interview a while back. Watch the clip Chris talks about the woman he insulted at one point. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAPwHyIMz-g
  5. No worries :)
  6. As its a digital piano it can be programmed to play different sounds if needed. As far as i know it can also play on its own, eg. when Chris gets up to spin the light it can be programmed to play by itself when the guitar riff comes in, when he has finished and touches the keys again the automatic play finishes and he takes over. Ive never had the chance to see one of these but that is what ive read which is very possible. i went to a place in London years ago and the Church organ could be programmed to play by itself and the organist showed us and it played perfectly by itself.
  7. Was just thinking of starting a thread like this. Well i dont control the radio at work so dont get a say in what station we listen to. ANyway here is the list these songs majorly annoy the hell out of me and feel likeblowing up the radio when they come on: American boy- by Estelle Mercy- Duffy [ its unreal how much i cant stand that song is the most tasteless song ive heard and how the hell it got to number one i dont know clearly the general public like rubbish]. Adele Florida- low feat tpain [ gay ] Hey there delilah- plain white tee's [ sounds like a cinema advert song how it got on to radio i have no idea ] Nine in the afternoon- panic at the disco There probaly loads more but cant think of them now. Anyway they are the gay sonmgs that annoy me

Personally i would, just find him when he is alone, get the confidence together and approach him, and just, say hi sorry if its a bit forward, ive seen you about [ or something like that ] and was wondering if we could hang out some time, maybe get to know each other? Yes it cuts the bs cheesy chat up lines and cuts to the chase. At least if you say that he knows your intentions and you can get straight on with the game without ponsing about with does he or doesnt he like me. If he says yes clearly he finds you nice, if a excuse comes up with a excuse you know and you tried. With a chat up line or something you could use it then be struck by awkward silence and not knowing what to say to each other next. If you use the method i tried have questions or talking points planned ahead so if he goes along with it you already have thought stuff up to kick the convo off. Only thing with the way i said was it takes courage to do it, but if you do it shows you have confidence which is a attraction to a lot. In any case good luck with it is much more easier said than done. Just give it a shot you never try you never know, whats there to loose?
  9. When you go to the same bar and request Yellow for weeks on end, till it comes to the stage where all you have to do is stand at the dj's box with out asking and Yellow comes on. Gosh that used to sound good coming out those speakers at full volume.
  10. Playing the instruments i think or hope. Certainly doesnt look to clever i have to say
  11. Thankyou so much for posting this. I had a feeling the video was going to be good as it is very very good. I get a very military feel from the video. The start is like a shot from a Clint Eastwood cowboy film with the shakey out of focus camera. When they first appear walking across the hill in the formation and Chris checks behind him, ask any serviceman they will tell you that is a typical patrol formation and to have a guy at the back checking the rear. The drums Will and Guy are banging are old military drums used in marching bands hundreds of years ago when soldiers used to march to battle. The part when they are all round the piano singing, it is in fast forward just like old footage from world war 1, so many films of soldiers gathered round a piano singing and dancing. And at the end when Chris is in the snow to me that looks like a wounded soldier trying to make it back and struggling. Maybe im looking into to much. And there clothes aswell very heavily military influenced, the epelets on the shoulders, Chris's trousers with the stripe down the side are very very 1700's military style. Say what you will but seems to me the video was planned to be hinting war or soldiers in some shape or form. Very well directed video and definetly interesting, I think Chris walking down a street singing was getting old, not that Fix you was bad is still one of my favourites.
  12. I got the same, no mention of the vid in the tv guide or anything, just got poxy sex and the city......o joy
  13. Dont Panic Trouble Yellow Shiver Politik In my place The Scientist Clocks Talk Fix you Speed of sound Warning Sign White Shadows/Violet Hill [ although may not be needed as its on the radio all the time now ] One I love God put a smile on your face Green eyes Best put on the hits/famous one's and some of the other album tracks [ the cathcy ones] Apart form the singles the album songs ive put on are the ones ive known people who dont mind Coldplay singing along to or like. So the famous songs and catchy album songs are best bet and then this person maybe want to explore more of thier music. Chances are most the famous songs he/she will recognise but forgot about, if you know what i mean.

Well said. Dont think you should leave. Your entitled to your own opinion. I dont mind there new stuff. Violet hill is good. viva la vida good but dont know if that will cut it as a single but time will tell [ the XFM text in opinions didnt sound to clever]. Think some people are to protective of Coldplay and dont like hearing bad things, some people need to learn that the world is like that some people are still going to hate Coldplay. this album isnt going to be magical one everyone on the earth is going to love like everyone thinks, the music is supposedly just going to appeal to other taste. In any case Ive found reading your posts interesting, its nice to hear both arguments instead of how wonderful coldplay all the time it gets a bit teadious. Im undecided on Viva la vida, i like violet hill, VLV good but not sure if its single material, but thats my opinion. But i will wait till the entire album until i make my mind up i can hardly judge by hearing 3 songs and a bit.
  15. I entered twice thinking Coldplay were making you work for it and that you had to open more of the album art work to show the picture behind and built up the % opended but clearly not. Still got a email through and have been entered, think they just mean if you attempt to enter more than once the second or third entries will be disqualfied and the first one will only be registered. Well thats what i hope anyway or i dont stand a chance.
  16. Two albums early ;) , but yeah is better. So far the best is Violet hill i think, lost sounds more like Coldplay. ASARY is very different and for that i really like it. Viva la vida is good but not my favourite. I do prefer the heavy sound of Violet Hill.
  17. I think maybe Violet hill maybe one for opening. In its sort of heavy opening sound like politik. They may well add on a sound set up like they did with yellow in 2003, spies etc. Would work well as a opening song, not so sure about closing. But still reckon it will sound good live. Hope we dont loose Fix you and some of the others that may get pushed to the back.
  18. Its a very different look. The last look all black did look very very smart but casual. This is different. Personally prefer the dress sense from Parachutes and Rush of blood when they would just walk onto stage in whatever they fancied without wearing costumes etc. But is clever how the jackets are sort of military based [ sort of 1700's style] which is fitting with the album cover and the medal ribbions Chris had on his shirt. But still they turned up for the radio one interview dressed as previous years so who knows. That maybe appealing now but id imagine after 6 months touring getting all that on for days on end with the sleeve ribbons etc playing about may get a bit annoying. Coldplay arent the band that spend hours in the dressing room prior to concert. Who knows they may keep the look up.
  19. Its not a bad song in my opinion but its not jaw droping amazing. First time i heard violet hill werent overly impressed but it has grown on me and like it now. I know they have moved on. viva la vida has a sort of dance beat to it. As good as these songs are I dont think they are going to be anthems of the past, like Yellow, clocks, in my place, speed of sound etc. Everyone I know who has listened to Violet hill has said its ok and thats it even some are Coldplay fans. I do worry Brian Eno has stepped in with lets pretend we are in the 80's again Coldplay.. oh okay mr Eno and this is the result. I aprreciate the change but even there dress clothing now is like a mix between the Kaiser Chiefs and the Feeling. These songs are good but seem to be missing the vibe the old songs had they dont have the feel good factor is i suppose i feel is missing. eg. yellow, clocks, in my place speed of sound, talk etc very catchy songs that always made me feel brilliant. And the more downbeat ones like The scientist and Fix you were beautiful and uplifting. Where as Violet hill which one is it, it doesnt feel magical like yellow nor is it uplifting so what is it apart from a good song? Anyway must be open minded the album has yet to be realesed.
  20. In short what the guy is saying is just because the new album has a long and unusual title people wont buy it and it wont sell. Okey dokey if he thinks so. The point in singles is to get the songs growing on people so they like what they hear and are curious what the rest of the album has to offer and then go buy it. No one is going to hear Violet hill or other comming singles and love them, go to buy the album then read the title and decide not to buy it just because the album title is odd. Is the person who wrote this a simpleton or something?

They look good. I hope i dont see a hint of skinny jeans and converse mixed with scruffy t-shirts and blazers. Please no theres enough of that going round. Anyway when they did the radio one interview the other day Chris was in his jacket and Johnny the same. The all black did look smarter I have to say.
  22. I like it because its different. It has a 80's sound to it which i like the bass line that comes up at 16-18 seconds and onwards is nice . If it were on the album i wouldnt be to impressed, but its not its a b-side there supposed to be a bit different, sort of experiments. Coldplay have said before on X&Y they are suckers for 80's guitar riffs and sounds which they showed a bit with X&Y. But i do like this is nice and smooth.
  23. Never mind. Thats only amazon. I think Coldplay are still in second place for most albums sold in one week in music history jopefully they can hold it. I like Amy Winehouse's music but dont like her attidude lets hope she starightens herself out and appreciates the support and success she has as some people would kill to be in her place. She has slagged Chris Martin off once or twice before, but lets face it he is far more of a musician than she is. Sorry but she has been given the chance of a life time and still gives woe is me im a drug addict but hopefully she sort herself out as her music is good.
  24. Found him on youtube a while ago. His playing is fantastic. Did post his version of Yellow on another thread but no one seemed to interested which is a shame, because unlike a lot of pants covers on youtube this stuff is brilliant.
  25. Glen replied to Black Rose's topic in The Lounge
London is a joke in itself. Fully of arrogant yuppies wrapped in there own self importance tearing around "town" in there stupidly priced under powered cars. Anyway another bent politician gone another one in I doubt very much this one will make any difference. Violet hill was very well timed bearing in mind some of the lyrics.
