Kings of Leon
sorry double post. most of the time i have something constructive to say when i accidently double post. with KoL........hmm... did you know that in 2008 Only By The Night sold 300 000 copies in Australia yet only 150 000 in their home country the US. The States have a population 15 times that of australia.

THE CHASER Mocks Sick, Dying, Terminally Ill Kids
if the show just wasnt funny then thats ok. but the fact that its not funny AND offensive really annoys me. whats worse is that they stole the sketch off http://www.onionnews.com. ITS NOT EVEN ORIGINAL cmon boys............

Vampire Weekend
you quite obviously weren't in byron bay last august when these guys brought 20 000 people into a frenzy for 40mins. i won't even start on the brilliance of their debut release. as much as it pains me to say this. i kind of agree with you that their second album won't be great. i loved the debut but listening to it i kinda got the impression that this is as good as they will get. hope they prove me wrong.

THE CHASER Mocks Sick, Dying, Terminally Ill Kids
i've been a very big fan of the Chaser for a long time, since the CNNNN days through to Chaser Decides. but this new project War on Everything is very low brow humour. its built on crude black comedy which is rarely ever funny. the skits are usually stupid and senseless. i watched the first episode of this second series of the Chaser and laughed maybe twice in 25mins it went for. i woke up this morning to the news of this pathetic stunt and i dont think i'll be downloading anymore episodes of this show. the boys have lost a very very big fan.

MGMT
^^ yeah i agree with you the animated bit was a little silly. but thats MGMT for you. hope they bring out new material towards the end of the year. remembering that oracular spectacular effectively came out in late 2007 so it has almost been 2years.

MGMT
wow it had never struck me that Kids didnt have a video. i still dont understand why youtube dont let you watch some videos if you're in certain countries. stupidest thing ever!! IMO Kids is one of the best pop songs i have ever heard EVER. that video isnt exactly the best but wonderful nonetheless. i really liked it how they depicted the idea of how ' to a baby/kid everyone in the world is monster except their mum'

U2 Should Follow Coldplay's Lead
i really hope you realise that U2 and coldplay are not the only two bands in the world. and that u2 arent the only band to ever release live dvd's. also that a cd of 9 live tracks doesnt constitute a "live album". each band should stick to their strengths. U2 put on a great stage show, a spectacle of sorts and that will not convert well on a cd regardless of whether its free or retail price. the only thing that makes coldplay a half decent live act is chris martin's showmanship and charisma particularly his banter between songs (not so much during songs) and there was little or none of that on leftrightleftrightleft. what they did with the Live 2003 dvd was perfect, a couple of arena shows combined, tour diary and an accompanying cd with a few tracks. another reason why coldplay should not bother following U2. coldplay crowds are well.......boring. you watch almost any U2 arena/stadium show and there are people jumping up and down in the pit like theres no tomorrow, you just dont get that with coldplay making for some very dull viewing regardless of how good the band is. if CP are to make a live dvd i really hope they record it in an arena not a massive football stadium, their songs lose feeling in those venues. and lets face it, they're not muse. under a blood red sky never repeated? you must be kidding right!! i admit its a spectacular performance (i prefer Paris 1987) but you should really get your hands on some other concerts - Led Zeppelin @ Madison Square Gardens 1973 - The Who Live @ Leeds - INXS @ Wembley 1991 - Queen @ Milton Keynes - Placebo @ Bercy 2003 - Radiohead @ Rock Am Ring 2001 (something about this show i can't get enough of) - Arcade Fire @ Glastonbury 2007 - Pink Floyd @ Pompeii 1973 - RHCP @ Rock In Rio III 2001 ( a little bias here) - Muse @ Glastonbury 2004 this rant has gone for long enough and i havent even started on the death of the live album or pearl jam's outrageous releases in 2000. but i hope i have made the point that U2 does not need to release a 'free' album nor does coldplay HAVE TO bring out a dvd of a live show. i would rather they be creative in what goes on a potential dvd.

Pearl Jam
thank you very much saves me having to look for it!!

Battles
^^ thats how i felt with the raconteurs latest album. they spent an equal amount of time on it as their debut but unlike that record you could actually hear that they had rushed it.

TV on the Radio
apologies for the massive arse delay. here is the Triple J recording of TV on the Radio in Sydney in late January 2009. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8LA01CYA i should warn everyone that the first 20mins is terrible quality but the remaining 40 is near perfect. the recording starts after about 5mins. i'm not too familiar with the band so i dont know what the setlist is. part of the reason i waited a little to upload the concert is because i was waiting for triple j to broadcast part of the concert on tv. it finally happened so here is a youtube clip of Dancing Choose. Battles
^^ different bands work in different ways. for example led zeppelin wrote and recorded most of their epic albums in under a month. similarly i dont believe jack white has ever spent more than a few weeks in the studio with any of his 9 albums. portishead took over a decade to make the Third haha.

post non-coldplay songs that make you cry
^^ do you mean stacks or re stacks ;)
-
Battles
they seem like the sort of band who spend ages in the studio trying to make the perfect album. so wouldn't be surprised if we dont get anything from them for another year or so. i would like to see them work with Brian Eno, that will produce some interesting work.

Grizzly Bear...
upto listen No.10 now. loving it more and more with every listen. Kid A took me at least 15 listens before i got my head around it. but i can very much see why people might dislike this album. it does have some very dull moments and tends to fall into voids now and then. and the vocalist doesnt change his tone all that much through the record. as much as i love it, i dont see it being near No.1 in my 2009 list.
