  1. was their entire rock in rio gig telecast? where is the rest of the footage? they seem to really be in form at this show. touring this sparsely seems to suit most bands
  2. VLV was brilliantly done almost perfect!!
  3. some more recordings of the gig have popped up on youtube include plug in baby time is running out and the one above. - time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ec4KB1XcXQU- plug
  4. i personally agree with Kaos none of them possess any freakish talent but just because will is no john bonham, or jonny is no slash and guy is no flea and even chris isnt exactly freddie mercury on stage doesnt meen that their music isnt high quality and somewhat complex. its what a band creates as a group that matters. best example...U2 you would struggle find any of them in the top 100 for their respective instruments (maybe edge might creep in) but nonetheless they are one of the most respected successful bands in history. and i also agree that it is their (chris's) songwriting that attracts me to coldplay.
  5. very smart way of covering up the leak. shame that it will be 3am aus time.
  6. johnny should honestly ditch his electric guitar he is way way way better on acoustic and slide. the old coldplay is BACK!!! no more stadium rock shit
  7. will their wembley stadium gig be broadcast live on bbc radio 1? if so which gig will it be the first or second one?
  8. MMMassive Coldplay Special - Friday June 6 12pm Triple M's Myf Warhurst recently flew to London for Australia's only interview with bandleader Chris Martin. She also got the first glimpse of the band's new London studio, The Bakery. In a huge treat for fans, we'll be premiering the band's exclusive interview and new songs on the radio on June 6 with lots of extra Coldplay goodies online. More previews to come shortly. See Myf's Coldplay photo albumColdplay's career in photos Video preview - the secret of songwriting and 'Violet Hill' revealed! New album Viva La Vida out June 14 "This album was fuelled by a desire to move from black and white into colour," says frontman Chris Martin about album #4 and the follow-up to 2005's X&Y. "I think it's our boldest and most confident record," says bassist Guy Berryman. "We're much more open to new ideas and influences and less afraid to experiment." Preceded by the luscious single 'Violet Hill', Viva La Vida...' sees Coldplay pushing themselves into new territory. Produced by legend Brian Eno and Markus Dravs, their fourth album was largely recorded in their new studio, The Bakery (literally a renovated old London bakery) where the band would rehearsed day in and day out. "I wanted this record to prove us worthy of the position we've been given," says Martin. "Whatever anyone makes of the record, when we play live, we're gonna be on fire." Trace the band's amazing trajectory from modest fresh faces to global superstars. Plus it's a great chance to see Chris' curly hair back in the day.
  9. i've posted a bit of a summary to all the reactions to this performance on my blog site http://whispersofascientist.blogspot.com/
  10. lets just blame it on the fires at universal studios, maybe chris had some embers stuck in his throat
  11. following this thread through has been very interesting. i can't remember who said this but it changed my view on this..............AT THE END OF THE DAY ITS ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC.....to me at least. but then again i dont think i will be all that pleased if they did an all seater show here in sydney
  12. not at all. i may not like the style of football you guys play but not many countries create the same atmosphere that english fans do. but lets not get sidetracked. i told a few hardcore coldplays fans/mates about this whole seating fiasco and they all gasped in shock!! but one of them who dosnt exactly like them said that he wasnt surprised at all, they are very much a soft pop rock band with laid back relaxing music maybe that is the sort of atmosphere the band wants at their shows as opposed to a crazy heavy rock like feel.
  13. but there is a difference between standing at a gig with no designated seating and standing at a shows surrounded by designated seats.
  14. look i've been following english football for many years and i know for a fact that you lot know how to riot and you seem to specialise in throwing furniture in particular chairs. so i say study up on the old football riot videos take some notes, ask your old man how he used to do it. then rock up to the gig and make sure there isnt a single effing seat left on the floor by the time the boys hit the stage. because i know for a fact that if this happened in sydney there would be trouble! i wish you luck
  15. so will there be individual seats set up for each and every person? wouldnt that massively cut back on the number of tickets they can sell to each gig. and isnt it slightly dangerous to have temporary seating at a rock gig (i use that term loosely). i would love to see a crowd rebel and throws all the seats away and mosh like theres no tomorow. matchbox 20 did the exact same thing last time they toured down here in sydney and they struggled to sell out even one small show.
  16. which shows have been sold out?
  17. just made another posting to the site. this time i have added on a little bit of description of the venues at which Coldplay will be playing during the europpean tour.
  18. the ting tings are bloody annoying. great dj was ok but its not my name would have to be the single worst song of the year the first 30 seconds arent too bad after that its just painful. but my local radio station is featuring their new album so my opinion might change
  19. thank you very much for voting on the blog (i hope you stay true to your word and continue to read it) basically right now im trying to compress and summarise all the news and events that pop up on here. save people from having to sort through this jungle of a forum (stil very cool). at the moment i'm just keeping things simple on there as my exams are only a matters of days away. but after that i'll try and make it as informative as possible. by the way airieslady im very glad you still enjoy silverchair, sadly they couldn't maintain their popularity in the states but we still love them down here in aus. i've been thinking about making another blog near the end of the year about all my favourite bands (there are dozens of them) but first i need to accumulate a bit of a following through my coldplay blog. note that i have added another post today
  20. ive posted more links to songs on the blog. i will be making some major changes b4 the tour begins
  21. thank god its arena's not football stadiums. the venue mentioned seemes pretty cool and fairly small.
  22. whoops i just put this one on the main news page i'm sure the moderators will patch things up for us hehe
  23. Coldplay's free Barcelona concert confirmed Band's Web site will offer ticket details By Lars Brandle, Billboard May 21, 2008, 01:46 PM LONDON -- Coldplay's anticipated free Barcelona concert will be held June 17 at the Espacio Movistar venue, the British band's record label EMI confirmed Wednesday. The Spanish gig, which was initially leaked by frontman Chris Martin during a radio broadcast last month, will be book-ended by previously announced free dates at London's Brixton Academy on June 16, and N.Y.'s Madison Square Garden on June 23. Details on the distribution of tickets for the Barcelona concert will be revealed on the group's official Web site. The three free gigs are driving a novel promotion campaign for Coldplay's new album "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends," due June 12 internationally and June 17 in the U.S. As the part of the campaign, the band instigated a weeklong MP3-giveaway of opening track "Violet Hill," which generated more than 2 million downloads, the label says. Despite huge demand for the freebie download, the single holds at No. 8 on the current Official U.K. Singles Chart, the same position as it's opening sales
  24. thanks for the greetings people. really heart warming. BUT. what i would i love more than anything is for people to check out my coldplay blog especially once the boys start touring because thats when it will be in full swing have a good day my friends
  25. hey people i'm deaths_friend (i know that sounds soo sadistic) and i'm a massive coldplay fan. as you can most probably tell from my post count i've been here for a while. i actually used to hate the band with a passion when they first came out then i heard chris martin and johnny do "the scientist" at the Sydney Opera house studios and fell in love with the band. i havent seen them perform live but will do anything to get to their shows this time around. my fave album is rush of blood and my fave song is "yellow". and i love their live 2003 dvd mainly because it was made in sydney!! please check out my blog. its made for their upcoming world tour. you can find a link to it is in my signature. even if u dont like it please add a comment any constructive criticism is appreciated.
