has this been posted yet Earlier this year, Ed O’Brien mentioned that Radiohead would be touring Latin America this year, but unfortunately none of the countries ended up on the tour schedule. But hooray for 2009. With rumours of Chile and Brasil still floating around, first country to have confirmed Radiohead dates is Mexico. Radiohead will play at Foro Sol in Mexico City on the 15th, 16th and 17th of March. It’s expected that more dates will be announced shortly. its been the feature album on our local alt music station all week so ive heard pretty much the entire album. and even though i dont mind it its still pretty much same same. still will go check em out when they tour

love the cover of the new dvd/cd they always have great album art i guess it helps that mike has a major in visual arts. for a long long time (about 5yrs) LP were my fave band pretty much the soundtrack to me adolescence but minutes to midnight lost me and i dont see them winning me back. is it true that they could sell only about 50 000 of the 65 000 tickets on sale for the milton keynes show?

Happy Birthday In Rainbows :) this album changed my taste in music forever. i will never forget the first time i heard this album i have never before been blown away by an album the first time but this album did it. and since ive grown to love it more and more. its a true masterpiece!!

for all you aussie arcade fire fans out there. On Monday night at 10pm (AEST) ABC2 will be broadcasting a fair bit of the Arcade Fire show that took place earlier in the year. i have the audio of the full concert and it is easily the best concert i have heard all year so i cant wait to see it on tv. for those of you outside of australia i will record the show and put it on youtube as quickly as i can.

Tool - Aenima the epitomy of prog rock. maynard's voice is mind blowing as is Danny Carey's drumming. bands like Porcupine Tree and Dream Theater have been heavily influenced by these guys

thats a very awesome list of albums you have there but the last three dont quite match the criteria most would attribute to an "influential and impacting" album. i honestly cant think of any bands which have been directly influenced by BHAR or the fratellis album. maybe in 10yrs time these albums might have an impact but they still fall under the category of being inspired by older records more than influencing future ones. nonetheless a great list!!! thanks to everyone who has contributed.

i would hardly call coldplays last two albums alternative. but thats just my view. classifying music is very subjective. i'm not sure if u can edit polls or not but it would be cool if you changed "pop rock" to "rock" because for those of us who enjoy bands like Pearl Jam Led Zeppelin Pink Floyd Guns n Roses etc would never call them pop rock and bands like Black Sabbath and Deep Purple can hardly be called heavy metal, at least by 21st century standards

^^ my favourite list of albums so far nice work chillinrevev. and i agree that they have been influenced by some of the records mentioned rather than be an influence for others acts at least not to the same extent as Oasis or radiohead. i guess only time will tell if coldplay have any impact at all. in my opinion the only act i can see having influence over bands that will unearth over the next decade are the White Stripes with their unique almost garage rock like minimalistic sounds and Jack Whites awe-inspiring vocals and guitar work

one that i cant decide on Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory

just finished listening to Sigur Ros's brilliant performance at Splendour in the Grass 2008 which was recorded by an Australian radio station in early August in front of a huge crowd. the gig will be replayed this sunday at 5pm AEST. i'll have the links to the broadcast up some time this week otherwise you can just download my recording of the gig next week. it wasnt the best concert i've heard this year but was nonetheless brilliant.

i would also put In Rainbows there, but not because of the amzing music that album boasted but the impact it had on the music industry. the whole pay-what-you-want "stunt" and the webcasts and all that other stuff completely turned the music world on its head and now every band is obliged to release its music in creative ways. if i would to describe the full impact of the album i would be here for days but we havent seen the "world of music" shift like this since nirvana's Nevermind. mind you i am not claiming that radiohead has saved the record label industry (if anything they left it in a worse state) but they have changed the way big bands behave. another album to throw into the mix Chemical Brothers- Surrender

for me Hot Fuss was one of those albums where u get to track 7 or 8 without even realising it. but i do agree it does die out a bit towards the end. thats what separates a great album from a classic

Radiohead would have to be my favourite band to listen to at around 1am or 2am. i honestly cannot remember the last time i listened to one of their albums during the daytime, it just dosnt seem right.

The new album has become on the most critically acclaimed album of the year on Metacritic with a score of 91/100. for those of you not familiar with the site they compile reviews from magazines websites and newspapers from all over the world and give the album an average score. a rating of over 75 is very very good and only a handful of albums get it. anything over 80 is brilliant and 85 is quite rare. so a rating of 91 puts the album in an elite group. NB. In rainbows only got 88 but had a greater number of reviewers

which 10 albums would u say have had the biggest impact on the music world. please do not base your response on albums sales or on how much you like them. consider which albums were the most original ground breaking and influential in its time and whether it continue to remain relevant in todays music world. NO compilations NO live albums here are some suggestions The Beatles - White Album Led Zeppelin - II & IV and Physicall Graffiti Pink Floyd- Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall The Who- Tommy Jimi Hendrix Experience- Electric Ladyland Elton John- Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and many many more thats only 60s and 70s

chili peppers have extended their hiatus to two years now meaning that john will be working on solo stuff til the end of next year. i hope he visits australia for some shows!!

^^ i just dont quite understand why these old classic bands bother making new music when they could do a huge world tour and maintain their reputation without releasing any new music. The Eagles toured for 15years with no album to support and made millions. Reunion doesnt have to equal new album. look at the Police and Van Halen (who may or may not make a new album)
