Favourite Drums
the funny thing is that Ringo didnt drum on a lot of the beatles stuff. sometimes it was just john and paul in the studio so since paul was a perfectly adequate drummer he would do the drums. poor ringo lol

Should I go?
as long as you don't mind spending $700 on the event then yeah go ahead (all costs included). i'm going but i'm going cos i like about 20 bands on the lineup so its quite worth it for me. and how old are you? if you're under 18 i think you need to take a parent or something which would really suck cos the festival is 4 days partying and dragging a parent around for all that time would suck. but yeah if the money isnt an issue. go for it. and i dont think any of us should get too far ahead of yourselves.getting tickets to this event aren't always surety.

i think the guys on fasterlouder are having a pretty fair discussion on the ticket prices. if you compare splendour to other massive festivals it's actually not that expensive and you can't exactly be happy about coldplay and kanye and then complain about the price because they would be a big part of the reason why it's so expensive. i'm not happy about it either but going to splendour this year makes sense to me because a bulk of the lineup is bands i like but won't be willing to pay 60 bucks to see at a sideshow.

30 Day Song Challenge - DAY 01-DAY 30
some very good choices here particularly Monster and Killing the Name of. both of those would be up there for me alongside this. video hits always do a special on splendour. would be rather nice to meet Fuzzy, shes cute but they would probably want to ask about coldplay and i would be like "uhhh can we talk about kanye instead?"

not quite. headliners are splendour typically do an 80min set maybe a tad longer. which i guess isn't that much shorter than a normal cp concert.

i'm very curious to see what they decide to play at splendour. if they want to please the predominantly triple j crowd it will have to be nothing past 2002 material. if they do they're normal show i guess it will be a mix of hits plus the odd new song.

i raised this point on fasterlouder as well albeit arguing a different point. you look at those 3 headliners. they would be good enough to top any bill in the world. but in the northern hemisphere you'll find acts like that playing festivals that have over 60 000 people there every day. but at splendour you get those massive headliners (and an overall lineup that isnt far off) with only 30 000 people there. this means that people are more willing to spend the big bucks which then enable the organisers to throw the big money at the big names. hence you have yourself one very very good festival. here is who i wanna see at splendour. i've put a (0) next to the ones i really really wanna see. COLDPLAY (0) KANYE WEST (0) REGINA SPEKTOR MOGWAI GLASVEGAS (0) THE GRATES (0) MODEST MOUSE THE MIDDLE EAST (0) KAISER CHIEFS (0) JAMES BLAKE (0) KELE ELBOW (0) ESKIMO JOE CHILDREN COLLIDE (0) CUT COPY THE PANICS (0) FRIENDLY FIRES (0) THE VACCINES BOY AND BEAR (0) GOTYE CLOUD CONTROL (0) SPARKADIA (0) THE JEZEBELS LEADER CHEETAH THE HOLIDAYS (0) GUINEAFOWL

i'll be very surprised if they announce an act as big as beady eye in the second announcement. if they do you won't be hearing any complaints from me.

[31-July-2011] Coldplay @ Splendour In The Grass festival, Australia
my chances of going have gone from about 10% last night to about 40% now. won't be booking flights until i have full confirmation from friends. really hoping coldplay doesnt clash with any of my other favourite acts on the line up (which for the record nothing compared to last years) and as disgusted as i am with the ticket prices i think i'll end up getting the camping ticket because its only $120 extra which is less than what 4 nights accommodation and travel to the site will cost me.
