i guess the difference with coldplay is that they're hitting the festival circuit to promote their forthcoming album. both arcade fire and kanye have had albums out for a while.

if the new album is even half as good as Nevermind i will be over the moon lol.

arcade fire are basically doing nothing but festivals through the northern summer. doing a "festival" tour is quite the thing at the moment.

well it seems like i was quite wrong about Mr West not really touring for this album. he has a lot more shows lined up than i thought. here is what i've found so far March 20 - SXSW in Texas - done April 2 - Lollapalooza in Chile - done April 17 - Coachella in CA - confirmed May 20 - Mawazine in Morocco - confirmed by the festival's facebook page June 30 - Summerfest in WI, USA - lineup to be announced in the coming days July 1 - Essence in New Orleans - confirmed July 29 - Splendour in the Grass in Woodford, Aus - announcement expected tomorrow August 9 - Øyafestivalen in Oslo - confirmed August 11 - Way Out West in Sweden - confirmed August 12 - Flow in Helsinki - confirmed

Not cheap! it's the second most expensive festival in the world after Fuji Rock in Japan. if they do manage to secure coldplay and kanye or even just one of them, the prices will go up as both of them will demand high appearance fees (i know you guys probably like to think coldplay are humble and not greedy but when you're stadium trotters its hard not to be like that)

Yeah I have the self released 8 song record they had out in 2008. The first 5 songs were chosen for a reason, they were far better than the rest and the label wasn't ready to support a full album. Next big release for me is The Panics.

personally i hear more of a Cream feel but yeah on this album they really had a Beatles vibe going. listening to the Middle East album once more. one thing i must credit the band for and that is the fact that they've stayed true to their aussie roots. they could've easily made an album with an international appeal or geared more towards the north american market but instead they put on songs like land of the bloody unknown and sydney to newcastle that their aussie fans really connect with.

fair enough its a real tragedy what has become of the slane castle concert. since 2004 there has only been 2 real slane concerts, oasis and rolling stones. it will be good to see elbow and kings of leon play the venue this year and hopefully start a run of consistent events at the legendary site.

just out of curiousity. assuming the rumours are true. how many of you are actually willing to spend $400+ just to see coldplay at this festival? and ignore the 30 to 40 other awesome indie bands at the fest over the 3 days?
