im not in love with the album as much as everyone else but i've heard all the tracks live and they all sound amazing on stage. so i can't wait see them live later this year.

don't quite agree with you on the intimate feeling. it was after all in front of 80 000 people. i think the Boston dvd is the closest they've gotten to that on recent dvds. but theres nothing like a home turf gig. really hope they one day release U2 3D on dvd with 3D capabilities.

you seriously like jesus came to...fair enough. i think its by far the worst thing they've ever written. i've listened again and i find that a lot of the stuff is very "middle of the road" if you know what i mean, not quite here not quite there.

yeah shes gone from the noah and the whale guy to mumford to mat horne now within about 18 months lol. and i've heard from a number of sources that he cheated on her. but i think they're vastly contrasting levels of success played a part in the break up. just from the way she was talking about him at the show i went to, i could tell that as much as they liked each other they differed in the way they viewed and felt about music.

maybe start listening to bands that don't have guy berryman in them. :P

ok after a couple of listens 1. way way way too long. you can't have such a down beat vibe and expect people to stay interested for over an hour. just doesn't work. the album stopped going anywhere after about track 10 which is where it should've ended. 2. the album is really lacking in wow moments which the EP has plenty off. 3. Land of the Bloody Unknown remains the stand out track for me. but overall im a little disappointed. looking at about 6.5/10 at the moment. but it does seem like a grower so that number will probably go up.

Live in Paris 87 is my fave U2 recording and of course i love the zoo tv dvd cos its recorded in sydney :D

This! bands need to realise when they've run out of good ideas and they're past their expiration date. or even if they do make new music, do it in a low key way, maybe just use it as an excuse to go on tour again. rather than pretending you're still at your peak and centering an entire world tour around a mediocre album. with the massive number of reunions in the last few years i dont think we can take any band seriously when they say they're calling it quits.

i thought Yours Truly was a fairly decent album but i listed them cos they're an incredible live act. for mine the battle is really between Foals and Elbow. elbow for the quality of their music but foals for their incredible live show. whether arctic monkeys can keep up with them is dependent on how this new album of theirs turns out.

i know this is opposite to what the thread is asking. but i was just listening to Our Love to Admire by Interpol and realised how incredibly and undeniably shit the cover is! #fact

just to set things straight i think the british scene has been incredible in the last 4 to 5years. just to list some of the better acts to breakthrough or release good music in that period.
