yeah i will probably start again this Sunday with Sia. the LATW's in the last month or two have been pretty average. but the Sia one is worth keeping and they have Foals next week with Sufjan and Gaslight Anthem to follow. so it's a good time to start again initially i had an issue with coldplay headlining because i didn't one mega huge band then the rest just being your regular indie faves. but with kanye on the line up too it might help the balance a little. at the moment im trying not to get too carried away. and just to bring everyone back down to earth. the band we all really wanted to see, arcade fire isn't coming.

i think kanye is a prick but his music is brilliant so i still love him. same goes for thom yorke, he often comes across as being up himself but the man is a genius so i dont mind it as much. but then again i did just post in the mumford & sons thread that i was annoyed at marcus mumford for cheating on laura marling. so maybe their actions do affect me. of course if any of them went as far as chris brown and went around beating up women then i might think again. and i've never met any of my favourite musicians so i can't say much there.

if you had told me a year ago that the top two splendour rumours would be Kanye and Coldplay i would've laughed at you. probably still will. but that seems to be case at the moment. the folks over at fasterlouder seem pretty convinced that both coldplay and kanye will be gracing our shores come late july. i hope they make it clear on the 13th when they announce the line up whether these mega acts will be doing sideshows or not cos thats the fact on which i'll decide if i'll make the trip up or not.

the rumours of him headlining splendour in the grass (australia's biggest winter music festival) are growing by the minute. i think i might just have to empty the bank account and make the trip up north to see him.

yeah!! for ages! he was her drummer before M&S made it big. i guess marcus just thought he was too good for her.

yeah i was going to mention Elbow. they've been consistently brilliant for almost 10 years now.

well Jony what do we mean by at the moment? do we mean the quality of their latest music? how good their live shows are? Radiohead's latest album was no where near their best, u2 (they're not even british) and coldplays last two have been below par and oasis dont even exist. so i choose not to vote because Foals are the best british band at the moment. they had the best british album of 2010 and their live shows since then have been nothing short of awe-inspiring. incredible musicianship, great melodies, unique vocals and the group has perfect chemistry. "at the moment" the 4 you listed pale in comparison.

well the album has been out for 6 months now and i can pretty name every single show he has done in that time. he performed half a show at P4K's Offline Festival, SxSW, Lolla Chile and now next week will be at Coachella.

his Parades project is far far superior to his solo work. if he was smart he would try and get Parades international. i can really see the folks at P4K and NPR drooling all over Foreign Tapes.

i saw some great quality youtube footage and it looked like a lot of fun. i really wish he was touring a bit more for this album. what is he trying to achieve by hardly doing any shows.

i listened to it a good dozen times over a couple of months before it finally clicked! i think it has more to do with the fact that its really "my type of music" than anything else. i love a good guitar/drum combo.

4 of their last 5 albums havent been anything special. the fans have liked them but otherwise they haven't really made much of a ripple on the greater music scene. but i wouldnt call them mainstream mediocrity, just not very amazing music or at least paling in comparison to their masterpieces.

i've been a linkin park fan since 2001 but im pretty over them now. but i still love their first 2 albums coldplay i've been a fan of since 2004 but over them too and same deal with LP, love their first two. so that just leaves arctic monkeys since 2006

i think its just the musicianship on Foreign Tapes that blows me away. its so unbelievably brilliant but not self indulgent. probably the most unique album to come out last year also. my admiration of the year of music that was 2010 grows by the day. i can quite comfortably say my top 15 from 2010 would beat everything from 2009 and a great chunk of 2008. well i decided to go the drums anyways. just for the hell of it i guess. getting middle east tickets soon also.
