  1. the scientist in one of very few times watching vhi (i think, could have been mtv) a music video came on with a guy laying on a mattress in the middle of the street. everything went backwards well the music went forward. the video was fucking awesome, the song was fucking awesome...and it turned out the band was pretty fucking awesome too! id have found coldplay somehow, but im pretty damn pleased it was that song and video
  2. yeah this music video better be friggen grand, like best coldplay music video ever, because the story this song tells is to amazing for the video to be just the band sitting around and playing its got to be theatrical knowing coldplay...not going to happen
  3. i like all of the seconds, but reign of love is definitely my least favorite. csc is really a brilliant song. i do wish it could have been explored further like someone else said. that being said, its still great the way it is. its probably my favorite of the three. the escapist has been an up and down affair with me. i love how death and all his friends could be the ending of the album, and then the escapist comes in...which sometimes bothers me, and other times is great. sometimes i like the symmetry of ending the album how it began. other times i just wish daahf could be the end game because it puts a quasi exclamation point on the album. it at least sums it all up. whereas the escapist kind of drifts off into space. reign of love seems like it could have been a really good b-side, and i like the reference someone made to it being intermission. i think that would make more sense if the album was split that way, with life on one side and death on the other (like the title suggests), but it really all over the place - which works. the song is sweet and soft, but seems like it cant pull its weight next to the new sound. its good, but its not great.
  4. lol...i really hope that guys hate has been building for many years, and its just a culmination, because if he's written many long winded hate posts, he's got to much time
  5. Okay so there was some music playing throughout the whole interview, and I was wondering if it was Coldplay music or simply filler? Could it be the music from a song we haven't heard (postcards, prospekts march, etc)? The interview I'm refering to is available through a link on Coldplay's site.
  6. is there anyway someone could listen to this? idk if its naive to think you could record it lol
  7. Dude, saying something is gay (and i know you added 'ish' to soften it) is not exactly kind. I've let stuff like that slip from time to time, but its never something im proud of (definitely not something id include in a post too), and its certainly not kind. In regards to your opinions though: I don't understand how they have gotten artsy. I think they have progressed in their musical style, and in doing so they've broken out of that college type band. I think that, more than anything, is what people have to realize. Have you ever heard a band, especially one that started at such a young age, not change their sound. I mean seriously, no band is going to be the same when they're twenty to when they're thirty. They've changed and moved on personally and musically, and its fine if someone's musical taste doesn't change with the band, but don't think they should live in the past. There's only so many of the old tunes you can make. And even if they found a way to make new ones, they'd be old very fast. You also make very little sense. Artsy music in the most basic sense should be the least shallow. The music you referenced in others posts like miley cyrus, rihana, etc is probably the most shallow there is. Regardless, thats my opinion, and should certainly not hinder anyone elses ablility to enjoy it. I firmly believe music a window to the soul, and you listen to music that speaks to you. Taste has everything to do with it. I like this. You like that. I don't think its right for anyone to question what music means to them. Sure, I may hate the Pussycat Dolls...but maybe (somewhere...anywhere) someone finds it good?:\ I may be skeptical about the merits of their music, but surely someone enjoys it. Evidently Coldplay's old music was better for you. Well if you aren't digging the new Coldplay sound, listen to the old stuff, and find a new band that sounds the same.
  8. Okay, so obviously when an album comes out we're bound to compare this and compare that. We're going to want to pick favorites, and figure out whats gonna be on that dreaded Coldplay Greatest Hits in another ten years  (anyone seen Extras with Chris?) But for me, I cannot, based on the ridiculous amount of times I've listened to the album, and do not believe I will ever have a favorite song from this album...because they are all fucking amazing! Sure, I bet if I was forced, I could rank them, but you'd be forcing me to go to the hundredth decimal place to figure it out, maybe even thousandth. Chris's statement about this album being a bunch of colors, or the idea that its a story, and the fact that it is not very long, makes it impossible for me to ever skip or repeat a song. Every song has something magnificent in it, when they're doing standard Coldplay fair or when theyre breaking out into something different...nothing on this album is bad. So, does anyone else agree that they cannot pick favorites?
  9. i think a lot of us have come down with the single syndrome, where we pick the song that is the newest to us and like it more. im by no means saying death and all his friends isn't a fucking brilliant track, but from someone who knows what happens when a song is on to much (clocks...i almost hate it), i think thats part of the reason why everyone is digging daahf personally i got to agree with zemy, the songs are so different, theyre kind of incomparable. you can definitely say which is your favorite, but these songs aren't coming from the same tree, theyre from different planets, so musically its hard to say "this one is better because of x, y and z" for now i dont have a favorite with these two songs, or on the album everything is a different color, and i enjoy all of them
  10. i don't know how to really judge underrated, because i think really, amongst coldplay fans, we're going to find a lot of common ground. if we were looking at just generally though, considering more mainstream views, and mainstream views on this site i'll go through some songs i really have always liked that dont get mentioned much sparks green eyes (the song that confirmed this bands greatness for me - so simple yet profound) life is for living see you soon the scientist (i never hear anything about this song being one of their best, which is odd. its the song that made me love this band. its one of those popular songs that is almost just there, that it gets overlooked) i ran away warning sign the hardest part (catchiest song on x and y, i dont get its bad rep. i think of it like candy, its not good for you, but you love it anyway) swallowed in the sea (one of those songs you hope gets put on zach braffs next movie so it can get its proper respect) a ghost (i only recently heard it, and i wish it had a studio version, because its such a simple and delicate song, yet extroardinarily brilliant imo) strawberry swing (i think all the songs on this album have their backers, including ss, but i feel like this should be getting praise for being one of the best on the album. i feel its almost too perfect to do well on the radio, but i hope they release it as a summer single, because it so encapsulates that feeling of the perfect summer day.)
  11. i really dont get what is up with all these reviewers...what the hell are they really looking for?? i mean this is a great fucking album, regardless of band, but somehow everyone acts like coldplay is the second coming and that theyre not living up to expectations. i think movies being reviewed is a pretty good idea, because for the most part, a shit movie is a shit movie music however is a much more personal experience. i don't think reviewing music makes much sense at all, and i would say that even if every reviewer said this was the best album ever. i mean, music is a bloody sound that strikes your interest...it doesnt have to be deconstructed into something it is not. if you like something, like it. fuck the reviews, even if theyre good.
  12. fuck it, i'll wait till tomorrow...aka today. if i dont wake up, and this isnt figured out...well nothing will happen, but i'll be annoyed lol
  13. okay im actually getting mad antsy...does anyone know why i wouldnt have received an email notification yet? i am like 99% sure i pre-ordered, i have viva la vida as proof, so i dont know whats going on. i have no bones about staying up, but i kind of wanted to get it over with :( seriously though, i might friggen buy it right now if something doesnt happen real soon...that means i lose out on acoustic lovers in japan though, which is a fucking amazing song
  14. still hasnt worked for me, and i pre-ordered it...so im kind of pissed right now - hoping this gets resolved.
  15. thanks dude
  16. I feel bad for making this a whole thread, and really bad because it can probably be answered with one person. But does anyone know if the minute it is June 17th here in the States, will the album be downloaded for us from iTunes. I know this probably seems a bit impatient on my part, and seeing as I've listened to the album pointless. The reason is I didn't put any of the songs on my iPod, i just listened to them from iheartmusic.com, and I'm yearning to listen to them on my iPod. So if anyone does know the answer to this question based on their own experiences.
  17. ^ no you definitely cant bring one in. its got nothing to do with taking pictures, its got to do with it being a bomb or something retarded like that. believe me, i was just at a football/soccer game a few weeks ago in east rutherford, and i tried to bring the digital camera in, and they wouldnt let me - i had to go a quarter of a mile back to the car  i was going to try to go to the hartford concert...didnt work out. so im apart of the unfortunate many who won't be worrying about these things.
  18. i suppose that could be true - its perspective really. i dont know if i one hundred percent agree, but it could be argued as chris recorded with both jay-z and kanye west.
  19. i must have misinterpreted it differently as well. i thought they meant they had the line since the beginning of the band, and it wasnt until now they put it to use. ive also never heard this december song, so you may be right.
  20. lol another funny thread today. this guy is hilarious. i love how so many people get the wrong impressions about this band. they are quite honestly the least insufferable band out there today, and i say that wishing sometimes they could be more so lol. like theyre music videos can take something that seems very serious and make it hilarious. you get this video idea going in your head, and then they turn it into a joke. sure it sucks at first, but then you realize thats why you love this band...they dont take themselves at all seriously. i never paid much attention to the music industry and its inner workings and squabbles until recently, and i find it hilarious how many people within the industry hate or act like they hate each other. its just plain rotten:lol:
  21. hahaha...i love this thread. i laugh when i hear a lil wayne song. im not for rap/hip hop anyways, but i'll listen to some every now and then. your jay-z, kanye west and a few others. but lil wayne...i wouldnt say i hate him lol. my feeling is amused detachment.
  22. dude this is just the shit like how there are no new stories to be told, and everything is just rehashing or different way of telling the same story. thats all he's saying. obviously a band is not plagerizing, but you know bands are saying to a song theyre listening to, "oh i like that, we should do something like that" chris just jokes about it. instead of doing the nose in the air "we get our inspiration from" he says they plagerize everything. its his sense of humor. like someone said, no one really seems to understand this. also, there have been a few pissed off threads from this poster. you need to chill dude. who cares what your friends say about them, they don't understand. chill
  23. VLV - 10 (this album took absolutely no time to love, which is unusual for me) AROBTTH - 9.5 (some great songs, but I also think there's some that are just good) Parachutes - 9.5 (classic in every sense, much like arobtth, some great songs, but also some just good songs) X & Y - 7.5 (few good songs really, they seem forced, there are great songs on this, but for the first time the alright outweighed the good)
  24. i feel like you need to chill lol dont doubt everyone here doesnt want more coldplay, but enjoy what we have right now rediscover the old stuff listen to some other bands...:o and im definitely antsy for new stuff dude. the whole fact they say they have a lot of other good songs, famous old painters and the like, makes me think we wont have to wait long...fingers crossed. chris did say something about an album by the end of next year, so thats what, a year and a half. thats to long for me lol, but it also seemed like he may have been kidding about a new album completely. (can you ever really tell with him?). either way dude, we just got this great new album, and im not sure your logic about so few albums. better so few albums with so many good songs, then a bunch of albums with a few good songs per album. lots of bands churn out garbage. coldplay always delivers the goods. im willing to wait, although i wouldnt complain if we got any:D
  25. i think its called "be here now" :smartass2: or so i heard
