I really doubt any Strawberry Swing mix. Coldplay's website is very clear about Lost+ and Lovers in Japan (Osaka Remix) being remixes of the songs. I think if it were Strawberry Swing they'd do the same thing.

well im happy people understood what i meant. i guess i think its the most likely option, because I don't see why they would have an alternative version of strawberry swing for any type of release when it wasnt going to be a single (not that I'm happy they didn't make it one). i do hope its a reprise of LIT2 because the symmetry of both the album and ep would be just incredible. i LOVE coldplay, but that would just increase my respect for their creativity.

This was quite a complex thought for a thread heading, so I apologize if it was lost in translation. Basically I wondered, based on the clip we got of Life In Technicolor ii, if the song Now My Feet Won't Touch The Ground is an ending of sorts akin to the The Escapist. There was speculation it might be a different mix of Stawberry Swing, but the fact that the lyric is included in LIT2 makes me wonder if it is in fact the symmetrical conclusion of the EP Prospekts March. Basically VLV is a symmetrical album because its opening and closing song are built from the same formula. I was simply wondering if it would be the same with Prospekts March.

new album is great. a few really superb songs. i wasnt sure after hearing take back the city, but now that ive heard the whole album im really pleased. crack the shutters, the planets bend between us and a few others are my favorites. engines uses a lot of guitar from a eyes open album song.

I think its because they swear in the video clips.

My exact feeling after the first few listens to be honest. This album is not as easily accesible as their past I don't think. It took me awhile to get anything out of it. And now that I have...wow.

I wish there was more discussion going on here, so I didn't feel like I was dominating a thread. I've come to a personal conclusion that this album is going to mean a lot to some people, and mean nothing at all to others. The music and lyrics are growers. You aren't sure what is really be said. But after many many many listens, I've found that this album says A WHOLE LOT. I don't think I've ever seen an album so fascinated with the big things. This album is for the informed listener. Someone looking to get more than basic pleasure out of music. I think this album might get some critical acclaim or shame. Basically it depends on whether the critics will feel that Keane is in a position to comment on a lot of larger than life ideas. If they feel Keane should be allowed, then this is going to be a big time album. I will not agree with anyone saying this album is lyrically poor. It's one of the most thought provoking things I've listened to in a very long time. If you want to listen to a lot of songs about a broken heart than Hopes and Fears is a good bet. But for those who are looking for an album about the human no longer content to take things at face value, well this album is for you.

I have a feeling this album is going to be Keane's least appreciated, but possibly best album. Basically I've been listening to it non-stop, and yesterday I had that moment I get every now and then when I just become completely absorbed in the music. I really do think this album is amazing. It's a grower for sure. I think lyrically they're attacking some big big big big things. Like stuff most people would never really think about. It seems like a drug induced rant in some ways. There are a lot of themes that become clear because how often they pop up in different songs. Keane has always had a thing about roads as a metaphor, and this album is no different. But there are a lot of strong lyrical moments in here that I think most people would throw away as just being garbage. I don't do drugs so I don't really know if what I'm saying is correct, but you really do get the impression that these guys just got together and lamented the world for what it was, and wrote an album about it. Good stuff in my opinion.

yeah im hoping this is a grower, because at this point i feel like there are five really good songs, and everything else is either bad or fringe. im thinking some of the demos might get more play time for me

I have to say I liked some of the leaked versions better than the album versions. I think there was just a rawer feeling to them. They were edgy, not like normal Keane. But I thought it was a good change. This seems like they felt they had to bring some songs down. I LOVE play along, might be my favorite at this point. That being said I loved all the leaked songs a lot. This album seems to be pretty great at this moment. Keane always requires a lot of listens though. I always go through different favorites with them.

So yeah I pre-ordered the album on iTunes, and let me just say that its about 99% chance I don't cancel it. This album is a huge disappointment at the moment. I'm really trying to get myself to like certain songs, but I just can't. I like a few songs, but its not worth it to purchase the whole album, especially when there's no continuity. And I add: In finally finishing the whole album, I can say that I really really do not like this album. I am a solid fan of Oasis. I can usually find good stuff on all their albums. I guess I thought that buying a whole album was a good idea...I was wrong.

See I'm one whose kind of liking Coldplay expanding their horizons, and I think Eno really helped them do that. Would I mind if he did the next album? No, but I don't think even he'll want to. I think Markus, like someone said, would be good, but I don't really want to take steps back. I obviously love the older Coldplay stuff, its what made me love them. But that doesn't mean I want them to be static. Eno would be fine, but I think he'll be busy. Whoever it is, I want progress, not recession.

i think that in all honesty coldplay fever reached its zenith so early for this album that follow up singles won't do nearly as well in terms of mass popularity. i dont know if the band will go that hard after this song doing well - my meaning being that without a bump from themselves the song will be lost to a small mainstream following for a few weeks and then fizzle. if they go after it hard i could see it doing well, but i dont see that.

i think my main criticisms was that x & y was coldplay being coldplay and not being a band. i think they were recycling ideas that were coldplay but weren't extending upon themselves. i obviously like songs on the album. it was the first album i could anticipate coming out because i got a rush of blood to the head after it came out without knowing anything about the band. i also think the over produced criticism is the most relevant. i think some bands can get away with such things as its up their alley, but I don't think coldplay is one of those bands. i think they point subpar songs on the album because the band couldnt decide properly. i know this will happen on any album, but they talk about it so much for x & y i imagine it was increased. see people say this album lacked soul and heart. i think because chris martin's writing the lyrics the lyrics will always have that in some manner, but i think the music lost its soul and heart. very few songs properly encapsulated the emotional context. i think what if is one of those songs. it has lyrical potential but no music to make it great. x & y for me really has few songs i come back to. i think all albums you like initially prove they are good albums, but i think what proves an album to be great is how much you come back to it. for me its almost not happening. i have to get myself to listen to it in all honesty. it seems almost boring to me, like someone said. its an album slightly devoid of life. and just to let everyone know who thinks im just bashing, fix you, the hardest part (yes i know) and swallowed in the sea are some of my favorite coldplay songs.

well politik is way too high in my estimation. i am really kind of surprised that it worked out this way. i think obviously its not surprising that songs like viva la vida, clocks, the main singles basically did well - but i am really happy with this list for the most part. i think my respect for this forums members, which has always been extremely high, has just increased - if that even be possible. good list and good idea

that is...AMAZING wow im gone for a few days, i come back and all this news we've been hearing thinking its complete speculation turns out to be true. thats fucking great. i mean i really didnt think when chris said this shit it was going to happen, but now...wow...WOW....WOW!!!!!!!! lol but seriously an ep and a full album. that is absolutely epic. amazing. marvelous. and the ep in mere weeks and an album next year. that is really fantastic. im seriously gushing lol.

Oh geez thanks for the links. Does anyone have these for download? And wow for Love is the End. Keane brings back the emotionally charged with this and The Lovers are Losing.

I think Coldplay kind of breathes emotion really. I think each album has their own kind of emotion. There's obviously love felt in every album, but I'm not sure I could pick one as the most emotional. Parachutes with songs like Shiver, Yellow and Sparks is definitely showing the love. AROBTTH I think has some songs that are so emotionally charged that they make up for an album that really, for all it's brilliance and the one that made Coldplay huge, has not all that much emotion. X & Y, despite it being my least favorite album, might just be the most emotional in all directions. There's the indecision of Talk and What If. The love felt in Fix You, A Message and Swallowed in the Sea. I'm surprised VLV has gotten no nods here because I think it's highly emotionally charged, but just not so much in the way of love. This kind of fascination and dwelling on death is extremely emotional. Lost comes off as more a pop single on the album version, but when you hear the acoustic (its piano so i guess they call those acoustic now) you really see the emotional value in it. 42, although it goes for catchy ballad when he says, "You thought you might be a ghost. You didn't get to heaven but you made it close," and obviously when he says, "Those who are dead are not dead, they're just living in my head." So I think points could be made most well for X & Y and Parachutes, but I think VLV has this underlying emotion and fear that isn't as stated as brutally honest in all the songs so people don't see it as well. I mean Cemeteries of London talks about God as do a lot of songs - and thats a very emotional thing. I'd give X & Y the vote with Parachutes a close second, but for me X & Y was the most forced album they've done and I think VLV deserves at least an honorable mention for emotional album.

i got the same let it slide impression as you. i skip that song everytime on utis. but really i love the lovers are losing. i think its a great song and im happy they didnt go to far away from utis. i liked the new sound of spiralling, but i think the best way to make a good album is to strike at least a 80-20 split for new and old just so that fans dont feel completely alienated. i like both songs so far...as for the other song on the radio show...meh idk

im not the biggest verve fan, im into a handful of songs. i like valium skies though on the new album, and im wondering if i should buy the whole thing. i'll probably check out the songs on youtube or something before i really decide.
