i dont know where the article's from, but even if it was a semi-credible to credible source, i think its more than likely they went on the internet and looked at the list of songs not on the album, and put them there, as opposed to fact checking with the band themselves. i dont think it could be any clearer that they're the same song. i mean its got a word for word lyric in it. i still think this song is case closed

i saw the scientist video. the emotion in the words and music just took me. it was like nothing i had felt before in music. really the music im into hits me emotionally on some level. whether its talking to me when im not feeling awesome or when i feeling great. ive always seen coldplay as a band for the thoughtful, and really thats why i like them. also as ive gotten to know them better you can't help but root for them. there isn't an ego among them. i mean even when you're pissed they made another not serious music video (is that only me?) you can't help but think, "wow these guys are too cool." just the personalities and sense of humors just kind of make you realize these aren't just great musicians or a great band, but great people. i could get by without the latter, but it makes liking them so much easier.

this thread is perfect. i dont usually get annoyed if someone just types cold play or one of the many versions we've obviously seen lol, but if someone proclaims to like or love the band, and they do that...well thats a whole different story. it annoys me so much. if you like a band...you better know how to spell its name.

This is a strange request, so bear with me. First off I'd like to say, while I've been loving this band since 2002, its only since like 2006 that I've been the diehard fan. Listening to the interviews, picking up tidbits of information, etc. Now I think we can all agree that the band (and I say band meaning mostly Chris in this case) have some great quotes. Whether its hilarious or simply poignant, I was thinking that here we could compile them or someone could lead me in the direction of a page that has a sizeable amount of quotes from them. So basically this can be a list of some great quotes by the band. You guys can sumbit them, and I'll come back and post them here so that we don't get repeats. I don't know if anyone really wants to do this, but Chris is friggen hilarious, and I'd just like to see how many great quotes we could get. The List "Ahhhh fuck. I messed up" Every time Chris messes up in a song live. "Oh shit. I fucked that one up" Every time Chris messes up and doesn't feel like using "fuck".

yeah i ordered my two t-shirts three weeks ago now...still havent gotten them. i got the poster i ordered though. im really hoping they get here soon. i called, they said theyre on back order, and they couldnt even give me a date i might recieve them.

i dont see why it wouldnt be true. what im worried about is how bad it will be. i say this because the song lends itself to this kind of epic theatrical video, and you know coldplay wouldnt do that because the fear of being too pretentious. sure no one likes someone who takes themselves to seriously, but come on.

i go with viva because even though in rainbows was the album that introduced me to radiohead, im just a little more devoted to the coldplay sound. personally i love in rainbows, i listened to it a ton when i first got it. then after going away from it for a while, i found songs that i once thought were "meh" were awesome. i love radiohead a lot, but even though there's a lot of talk about how radioheads records are supposed to be listened to a-z, i can rarely do more than listen to my favorites. i love a lot of their experimental stuff, but some of it is just too distant. i also dont know how much i agree with what someone said about thom yorke's lyrics. i think generally theyre pretty great, but i think he's a wee bit pretentious, no? thats something i find hard to get over, and i say that liking his stuff a lot. vlv i could sit down and listen to every song. theyre like colors that explode into life before you. in each and every song i can find myself connecting to something in the lyrics or find a riff that just hits me. coldplay was the first band that got me into good music. so i may have a bias, but when i compare both records, i see a number of songs on in rainbows that dont get it done for me. there's hardly a song on vlv that doesnt hit me in some form or another. radiohead may be more musically skilled, but within the distortions and the falsetto of thom there's a large amount of greatness assumed. i think about radiohead like this - oasis is a kid that says, "hey i'm fucking awesome". Radiohead is the kid who sits away from everyone else, and people think theyre shy, but they really just think theyre better. i cant get past this when i must compare even though i think both bands are brilliant.

Lol well I have seen a handful of their concerts, one live lol, and a number on dvd, and they didn't have with or without you. The current U2, or at least post ATYCLB would play Joshua Tree songs because it was in the same musical vein, but in the 90's they frequently didn't play the song. Who knows what will happen if their next album is as innovate as they suggest.

While I cannot speak to The Rolling Stones setlist, I know that U2 does concerts all the time without playing some of the older hits. They have such a catolog of hits and songs though that they can get away with it. For Coldplay I think the same pretty much applies. Just because it was there first hit doesnt mean they should be a slave to it. Sometimes a song needs to be retired live, so that they can make a big deal when they bring it back revamped! I've never seen them live, and sure I may want to see Yellow, but its no necessity. You go for the band much more than the songs in my opinion, you wouldnt be there if you only liked Yellow.

"and the tears come steaming down your face when you lose something you cant replace when you love someone but it goes to waste could it be worse" this is weird because its from one of my favorite songs by them, but it didnt really cut it for me until something happend in my life. im not one of those people whose necessarily like, "coldplay is singing this for me" lol, but it certainly hit me pretty close to home. "and you know for you i bleed myself dry" the first time i heard those words the kind of devotion i imagined was unparalled. if i ever really like someone thats kind of how i feel and i dont know, the words just hit me. then i shall say that the whole green eyes song is just lyrical brilliance and despite its simplicity its still brilliance. seriously though, i havent even tapped the surface of all the amazing lyrics, this is probably the thing you could ask, even harder than favorite song.

it scares me to think they won't be around in another ten years. i really hope thats not going to be the case. based on what phil has said it seems like the band has an exit strategy...hopefully the fans adorn them with enough love that they don't want to leave or they just want to keep playing. ive never liked a band and had them retire or go away, and i really hope it never happens. but in ten years...i think they'll still be making music. they'll have released three more normal albums and two live albums that will be absolutely classic. they'll definitely be the biggest band in the world as U2 will likely be done or over (NO THAT COULD BE THE BAND I SEE GO...NOOOOOO). each record will come in with a newer more innovative sound (without going off the deep end) that will start to show the self thought demi-god critics that Coldplay aren't so bad after all. if that was the case...id be pretty damn pysched.

...a little weird, no? only because its courtney love and i was under the impression that she was the extremely kind of "messed up" one. didnt seem like the type to hang out with them. who knows, who cares.

well i bought some stuff from the online shop, and apparently its on backorder so im not going to get it for a while :( all im thinking is that this might extend to that and id have to get a refund...i better not! i dont know which one's he's talking about being bad, but the one's i got looked awesome, so im hoping they keep making them so i get my order.

that was a pretty awesome interview. seriously though Chris is probably the nicest guy in showbiz. i mean just hooking someone up with tickets. that is way too cool. but....EP IN MARCH!!!! I realized after hearing it that it doesn't mean nearly as much as I thought. That's a good eight months away. Then again I got college now, so maybe that time will fly. It didn't sound like bs to me if only because it wasn't like he was really being pressed for anything. I also don't think an EP would be big enough news to the mainstream public for him to lie about it. Another album would be huge news. So yeah, hopefully its a legit EP, like maybe five or six songs...but probably not. So yeah...b-sides anyone?

Is coldplay the best rock band of this decade? I say this obviously biased, but I don't see how anyone could debate this. No band has reached more people and countries and been as succesful in this decade than Coldplay. Certainly critics wouldn't vote them the best, but I don't think you can deny what they've done. What Other Bands have been good this decade? There's tons of bands that have been great. U2, Radiohead, Keane, Snow Patrol and many others. Has coldplay changed music in ths decade? There's no doubt that so many bands have either tried the Coldplay sound or are at least in someway influenced by it. Even if they aren't, more people are apt to listen to some similar bands due to Coldplay's influence on them. Seriously, would bands like The Fray have so many top 100 singles without Coldplay...I think not. Have they surpassed the bands that influenced them such as u2 and radiohead and a-ha? I'm not sure this is really a great question. The word choice of "surpass" doesn't seem that logical. I think with great bands like the one's you named the best thing is to be mentioned in there company, and for people to not be like, "wait what?????". And I think Coldplay has accomplished that with flying colors. They're dominating an era of music. When people look back Coldplay will define the new millenium sound.

yeah i was listening to this last night in my dads car...its a pretty sweet idea i think it basically cements the whole "biggest band in the world" thing really. i mean, what other bands can you imagine getting a treatment like this. probably the beatles, the rolling stones, u2 and...Coldplay. i'm not saying biggest band means anything...just saying

yeah they really have screwed up the singles this album...i mean i wouldnt call it a screw up, but rather that instead of making a violet hill video they could have spent that time on a Viva la Vida one as thats in there minds the first single...or is it? lol they've done a bad job of explaining everything, and even in interviews they seem confused

got to agree i dont think this will be anything more than original and radio edit... i dont think it would make sense for it to be acoustic lovers in japan because that's likely to be a single, so if they did a 2 song CD for that they'd want to use album and acoustic but who knows, hopefully its a new song

There's a nostalgic value to The Scientist that no other Coldplay song has for me. It's what made me love the band. Therefore it's probably my favorite. c. Favorite Coldplay video? It's funny because it seems like this is becoming a theme for me, but I don't think any thing beats The Scientist. Most treasured Coldplay item in your collection? I'm not really sure, I think its my cracked AROBTTH CD. It cracked before I knew what Coldplay meant to me, and I regret it. Okay, so I'm one of those people who have yet to listen to this album on a song by song basis, and what I mean by that is I don't pick out favorites or anything like that. I listen to the whole album in sequence. I'm always going to do that with this album just because I love the way it goes, but I've found the album version of Lovers in Japan just seems so ordinary to me. At first listen it might have been my favorite song, but right now it seems so bland in comparison to everything else. I still love the acoustic version, but the album version has lost its charm with more listens. Anyone else feel this way about this song?
